Tambuti Lodge has 8 clean whitewashed en-suite chalets perched above the Okavango River 50m from the floodplain and a traditional African restaurant. Never flooded and easy access, conveniently located on a small road leading down to the river from the center of Rundu town. The ideal stop before heading to the deeper Kavango and Caprivi.

For 52 Euro per house/night with breakfast simply perfect. The garden is like a botanical garden-so pretty, well taken care of. Spent an hour taking pics. Staff extremely friendly. Nice pool. Loved the flowers, trees, birds, view of the river with the border of Angola. Simply amazing! Breakfast could be faster-took 30mins for the omelette to be prepared, but rest all fine. Strongly recommend this paradise for a reasonable price. Was the cheapest night of the entire 2-week trip, and certainly one of the best. Try the mangos!!!!! Or the crocodile steak?

The lodge is beautiful and the staff friendly. But there were a number of setbacks. We had the family room, with a beautiful large bathroom with a roll top bath in the middle. So I was looking forward to a nice luxurious bath. But unfortunately, the water was cold and such a beautiful luxurious bathroom is of little use (showering the next morning was also cold). The heating setting of the air conditioning also did not work. They also advertise their restaurant with local dishes. Unfortunately, they had almost nothing of our choice in stock and we ended up not having a very special meal. The breakfast was better.

We spent 5 nights at Tambuti during December 2019 (including Christmas day). Lots of pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was great although the menu is a little limited for a 5 night stay. Drinks are very cheap compared to other lodges in the area. The lodge is beautiful with a lush garden filled with fruit trees, flowers, herbs & chilies. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The pool was also spotless and the water not too cold at all. The lodge is also very easy to locate and get to, no offroad (gravel) driving needed
A few minor cons: The only soap available in the bathrooms are a generic liquid pink soap that does not smell very refreshing. I recommend taking your own with and not relying on the lodge to provide soap and shampoo. Lots of mosquitoes. My recommendation to the lodge would be to plant more lemongrass and basil in the garden and especially around the deck. This will help a little. Same breakfast every morning. Although the breakfast is very tasty, it is a very limited buffet. You thus end up having the same thing every morning. The options also got less as the days went by. The owners' dogs roamed freely between the guests and this created some discomfort for various guests. The dogs were very lively and jumped up against people and also bit holes into their clothes and jumped onto the beds in your room and tables in the dining area.
One big con: The lodge is located right above the town beach. This area belongs to the town council and parties are regularly held here. During our stay there was a permanent marque tent pitched here with a bar, fridges and DJ system. Every day the music would start mid morning (10:00/11:00, sometimes earlier) and not stop until the early hours of the next morning (03:00/04:00). Two mornings the music was still at full blast at 07:00 then we had breakfast. The party goers also leave all their empty bottles and cans on the beach and this is then your view while enjoying breakfast. We were in room 6 at the back of the lodge (garden view not river view) and when we had the aircon at full blast and all windows closed we could hardly hear the music and this helped. My recommendation to the lodge would be to install more water features (water falls and fountains) across the lodge grounds as this will create white noise and a little distractions from the load music. I think also installing speakers that play nice background music at the deck and the pool will also help a little.

We would highly recommend a stay at Tambuti Lodge if travelling through the area. Don't expect Clubmed standards, that is not Africa. The staff here are amongst the friendliest we have come across and they try hard to please. The accommodation has all the necessities and are kept to a good standard of cleanliness. The breakfast and evening meals are excellent, and contain a good proportion of local touches and foods, so that you know you are in Africa, not in the USA or Germany.
There is a track along the river for the bird watchers or fitness lovers, and a pool for those that just want to laze the day away. We will stay again one day when we find our way back to Namibia. Highly recommended.

Small, fine accommodation. Green stopover in the middle of Rundu. Beautiful well-kept garden area. Pool also available. The bungalos were very spacious with freestanding tub in addition to the shower. Breakfast and dinner were also great. Only the surroundings are not so beautiful at present, as construction is currently underway on the riverbank.

We were supposed to stay two nights and just stayed one. The rooms are dirty and broken. There is mold everywhere, the walls are so thin that you can here everything and its so loud. There are no proper curtains so its really bright in the room at night. The service is not interested in being helpful or friendly.

Tambuti is amazing place to be. Beautiful location close to Kavango river, appetizing food menu with variety of local dishes. We also love the rooms.
The place is peaceful and safe. I love the breakfast area where one is overlooking the river. Everything about this place is just awesome ❤️

This is a nice place but the service was unacceptable. There was a Festival nearby and the sound in the room was like your bed is on the middle of the festival. Very loud - not possible to sleep or even watch TV - far too loud. They didn’t offer any other room or alternative. Festival was till 2am in the night. Impossible to sleep or relax. I’ll recommend Kaisosi River Lodge which is a quite and cosy place nearby (we escaped there due to awful). The staff in duty and the manager are not offered any solution or flexibility.
DONT GO HERE!!! It’s a rip-off.

Good morning Thorsten, we are very shocked to your claims here!!! Firstly the event you are talking about is not part of tambuti lodge, this is an event organize by the local authority during December festivals, the loud music came from the festival NOT FROM TAMBUTI LODGE, please don't confuse the public here. Secondly when you decided to check out due to the noise, you were informed that the manager was not around on the 26 December but will be in office on 27 December 2022 to be able to assist you. You were assisted after the manager was back in office and you were fully refunded the amount you paid for accommodation. Thirdly your un appreciation of getting your money back is very disappointing, you fail to thank the lodge for paying you back your money for something the lodge did not do at all, but you decide to write a very bad note for us. Next time you point a finger at us, consider the kind we have done to you and family. lastly the event ends on the 7 January 2023, so its not something permanent. Point of correction the staff and manager did offer a solution of refund you, your money back, now who is a liar here? Mind your language we don't rip-off people!!!

We stayed at Tambuti Lodge on our way back from honeymoon. We had to have our Covid 19 tests done before we could catch our flight home and the owner of the Lodge was a great help in organising transport for us and even dropping us off at the airport.
The chalets are clean and spacious, but the bathroom was definitely the star of the show. It was luxurious with a cast iron bath situated in the middle of the room! The staff was friendly and helpful.
We ate at the restaurant both evenings we were there and the Fish and Eland steak were memorable dishes.... we even tried Mopani worms!
Thank you for a great end to a memorable trip!

Namibia's roads are in an extremely good condition. The lodge is not far of the main road and really lush with beautifull rooms. Very close to nature and literally on the river. The roads in Botswana is also good if you are aiming there but in Zambia it is truly pathetic and almost undrivable.
There are more places to choose from in the Rundu area.
