This is our 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel, and every year it gets better. The owners have put a lot into modernising and improving the rooms and pool bar area. We stayed in a 'superior room' which means you get a double bed and two singe beds separated by sliding doors to create a second room. Lovely updated shower room with fab rainfall shower. The hotel cleaners were fantastic and friendly - they went in everyday, washed up cups, changed towels/bedding. etc. Staff at reception were helpful - Air Con is 10 euros per day and safety deposit box in room cost 40 euros for 2 weeks. Pool bar and staff were amazing as always, especially Helen who works super hard during the day and very helpful at the buffet breakfast (which was also lovely with a great selection of food). Dennis and Maria have done a brilliant job at this hotel. The pool is lovely to have swim in and there were many sunbeds all around the pool. Lovely location, very central to the strip and is a short walk away from the beach. Can't wait to return for our 4th time!!

We have just returned from an 11-night stay at this hotel and in general found it to be acceptable. Our room was comfortable but very dated and needed a little TLC in areas. The cleaning of the room was also a bit hit and miss most days with the dressing tables and bedside cabinets were hardly ever wiped and the table on the balcony had a wine stain on it from us for a few days so big improvements could be made.
One day after a lovely long day on the beach covered in sun cream, we returned to our room to find no hot water or cold water. We queried this and it seemed every room was in the same situation. We were told by the "bar man" they were aware of this and all would be sorted out in 10 minutes. 2 hours later it was! It seems they had run out of water and the tanks had run dry as they have water delivered due to it not being connected to the mains supply. Anyway, after a later evening than planned all got sorted in the end.
Good points about this hotel is the location, set in the beautiful Zante countryside in a nice quiet location and 5 minutes' walk to the busy strip if that's your cup of tea. Supermarkets are nearby too and around the back of the hotel on a country lane is D&Bs BBQ Restaurant, a hidden gem that shouldn't be missed! Read my review on here! Beautiful beaches are a 10-minute walk away, either Kalamaki beach or our favourite beach Crystal beach where we saw baby turtles hatch.

Reading reviews on here before our visit people mentioned the breakfast was basic?! What more could they do? The breakfast was perfect and would set anyone up for the day. It had a good choice of fruit, breads, ham, cheese, Greek delights such as cheese pies, pancakes and frittata's. A good selection of yoghurts, jams and marmalades and honey, boiled, scrambled and fried eggs. If you're a British Banger type person like me the sausages maybe a let down, although I do love Greek sausages. Brilliant breakfast and a great choice in my eyes, hot or cold food!
Lunch at the hotel was fabulous too. We stayed at the hotel one day due to poor weather and the salads we had were amazing and very tasty!
Finally, all the staff we dealt with were lovely and very chatty from the lady on reception to the bar man and maintenance man. All very pleasant and very helpful.
Overall, a great stay and if the rooms were tidied up a bit and the cleaning improved slightly this hotel would have got a 5 from me. Would I visit again? Yes I would! One great holiday! Many thanks!

Thank you very much for your lovely review. Especially important for us are your recommendations as through your suggestions we try to become better every year. To avoid misunderstanding, I have to mention that the decoration and the furniture in some of our rooms is of classic style not old. It was a pleasure meeting you thank you very much again.

We have just returned home from a lovely stay. We were there on a B&B basis so don't expect cooking facilities in the room, you get a kettle and a fridge with limited capacity.

The rooms are fine, our bathroom had even refurbished but the room itself was slightly old fashioned but it wasn't an issue. The Air con worked fine and is 10 euros a day which is money well spent.

The staff really make the place, nothing is too much trouble and they're always there if you need anything. As in other reviews you'll see Helen gets special praise and it's well deserved. She's great crack and is always smiling.
Her daughter works with her during the breakfast and lunchtime shift and she does a great job with a smile on her face.
The pool area is kept immaculate and is great for cooling off.
Kalamaki beach doesn't look great I photos but it's an absolute unspoilt oasis. Crystal clear water and fantastic for little ones as it's shallow for 30-40 meters making paddling about ideal.

The strip in Kalamaki has everything you'll need, a good blend of bars and restaurants to suits everyone's taste. The spot isn't tacky at all, ive always opted for the Balerics in the past but the Greek Islands and the Greeks arw another level. They actually seem to like us Brits, and have a lovely calm attitude which translates onto the entire feel of the holiday.

We hired a car for a couple of days to explore in the middle of our stay which really made it for us as we like to explore.

The breakfast I may add was great. A bit random at times for those who like to stick to traditional English breakfast but I loved it.
A wide range of cooked food, fresh fruit and breads, nobody should struggle for choice.

Interestingly everyone we spoke to was a return visit to the hotel which speak volumes, and it had a lovely blend of nationalities not just loud Brits getting hammered by the pool.
The Ionion Blue has created a lovely atmosphere amd is ideally placed 5 mins from both the main strip and the beach.

Thanks to all the staff for making out holiday a wonderful week

I would not recommend this place to anybody. I will not be back. My girlfriend and I recently visited and although the room was cleaned everyday , we noticed items went missing consistently. We thought it was a coincidence and took no notice when it happened on the Monday, maybe the item might turn up- which was a very sentimental ring my girlfriend had left on the bedside table. Wednesday expensive makeup items my girlfriend had 4 left on the counter which we both clearly remember seeing and were not touched, having returned from a day out we saw our beds were made and the makeup was gone all except 1. We got extremely suspicious at this stage and stopped leaving items out as we suspected the maid was robbing our items.
Upon saying this complaint to reception, who were absolutely no help at all, we were told “check again” and no help was given. When i spoke to the manager at the bar, 2 other families who were staying at the time overheard my complaint and both said they have noticed items missing from their rooms aswell. This can’t all be a coincidence-the ring and other items gone forever, keep clear of this place at all costs would not trust it. Absolutely dreadful

Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Ionian Blue Hotel

Lovely warm welcome from Tetta on Reception nothing was too much trouble for her she helped us out with all our requirements.

The Hotel is lovely and clean and decorated to a very high standard.

The rooms are large with a fridge and air con, our room was kept lovely and clean with towels and fresh bedding the maid was always willing to help us

We stayed in room 410 on the top floor lovey pool view.

There is a lovely pool area plenty of sun beds and the surrounding garden are very well maintained.

The All-inclusive breakfast is a credit to the Hotel plenty of choice for everyone from continental to Hot dishes freshly cooked.

The pool bar is a lovely place to relax and have a cold Beer or Bar snacks, Demetria And Dennis are always on hand to serve you during the day nothing is too much trouble.

Marsel the bar man is a great guy and will help you with any questions you have.

The Ionian Blue Hotel is a 10 Minute walk to the Beach and a 5 minute walk to the main strip lovely hotel set in lovely surrounding only 10 minutes from the airport.

Back from another 2 week stay at this lovely hotel, Thank you Dennis and Maria,
Also Helen who runs the bar and snack kitchen during the day and the pool guy forgot his name, all the staff are so friendly and have always helped with any problems. They now offer all inclusive breakfast , with plenty of choice from hot or cold selection, unlimited tea/coffee/ juice from 8 until 10 am. We had one evening with no water for a while but it's just unfortunate that the water lorry was late,( you can't blame the owners when it's out of their control, ) most of zante run from water tanks not mains. We had 2 rooms 2 floor room was brilliant with a proper divide between both sides, 2 television's that work independently when the sliding doors are closed, perfect for a bit of privacy, walk in wet room, tea making facility and a good size fridge for keeping your drinks in.
The second room was on the 3rd floor with a full bath and shower, again same fridge etc. Rooms were kept clean and towels changed regularly as well as the beds. We will be returning next year in September to see you all again , wouldn't stay anywhere else, perfect for the beach 5 mins down the dirt track opposite the hotel, 5 mins to kalamaki high street where there are loads of bars and restaurants, but if you don't fancy the walk ionio blue do fantastic lunches as well as evening meals until 9pm , every restaurant charge about the same prices just give a little variation on menus ,
Thanks again and see you all again next year x

Still here now,5 days into our week away in kalamaki. Here with my 9 month old daughter and my parents. Kalamaki is somewhere my parents have been visiting foralmost 30 years and I have been a lot of times myself, never have we stayed somewhere so modern and clean! The rooms are immaculate and cleaned/sheets & towels changed daily. The maids are lovely as are reception, snack bar and poolside maintenance staff, they can’t do enough to help. The pool area is nice and easily accessible, breakfast seems nice although we haven’t eaten as we always go to the same bar down the road for breakfast when we visit kalamaki. You cannot get better location than this hotel, 2 minute walk from kalamaki strip and 5 mins from the beach. Iguana bar is a 30 second walk and is the best bar around for English breakfast, cocktails, football/sports and also have a rooftop terrace now which is beautiful. The best part about this hotel is the rooms, they are so modern and much better than any hotel I’ve stayed in before. The only thing I would say is a slight negative is if you’re travelling with a really young child like myself (baby or toddler) the shower isn’t very accommodating so would buy an inflatable or something to make sure baby is more secure. Other than that the shower is amazing for adults!! Great hotel would stay again 100%

This is our 4th time at the ionian blue and I honestly love every bit of it. We haven't been here for a couple of years due to covid but I must say the renovations in the rooms are fantastic. I emailed the hotel a week before we arrived asking if possible to have a ground floor room with 2 single beds for the kids (no bunk bed as the kids aren't used to these) and a pool view. I recieved a reply within 20 minutes that they will do their best to accommodate my requests.

On arrival Maria was very welcoming and friendly we knew about the room tax and air con charge as we had researched this before departure so had the money ready. Air con works perfect and the rooms are fab very spacious and a separating sliding door thankfully they were able to accommodate all of our requests as per my email which was a welcome surprise as they were so booked up but still very accommodating.

After a day we needed a walking aid for one of our party and I asked Tetta at reception if she may know of somewhere we can get one. Immediately tetta offered me one that was her own to use for the duration of our stay I offered to pay but this was refused. A couple of days later I asked Tetta if there may be a dark towel available as I didn't want to be staining their white ones and with children this can be unavoidable. Unfortunately the hotel only had white but Tetta on reception brought one in for us the next day again I assume this was her own. I cannot explain how lovely Tetta is she is so friendly and no request is a problem honestly a wonderful person who goes above and beyond to assist you.

Breakfast is layed out lovely with lots of variety on offer you are advised on check in of breakfast times between 8 and 10 so we knew to be down in time to feed the kids and ourselves. Sometimes you can look forward to a tasty sweet treat from Tetta as she has just finished baking school and makes some yummy treats 😋

Helen in the breakfast hall and bar is also very friendly and a lovely person and she remembered us from out last visit. A good variety on the menu for lunch (baked potatoes are amazing)This is a very family friendly hotel they are very good with children and make the kids feel included.

I would highly reccomend the ionian blue hotel for all ages if your looking for a nice friendly and welcoming hotel this is the place. Within a nice walking distance to town and the beach. If you do your research before reaching your destination there will be no surprises with additional charges etc. Everyone we have spoke to loves the hotel and the staff ... I cant fault them at all.... we will be back next year please god xxx we still have another week here to enjoy untill we return home so will look forward to some more sun swimming and ouzo before then!!!

When we arrived at the hotel and saw our room I was disappointed at first. The room was dark with old fashioned dark furniture and the shower was pretty dire. This said the bedroom was very spacious with lots of drawers, cupboards and wardrobe. The bed although firm was actually very comfortable and the room and bathroom were spotless and cleaned every day and towels replaced daily. The balcony overlooked the pretty pool area and gardens. 10€ per day for air con I thought a bit steep. I had looked on trip advisor before I booked and someone suggested the rooms on upper levels were better so we were on the 3rd floor thankfully as the rooms at ground level were in the shade and looked terrible dark. The hotel is in a perfect situation half way between the fabulous beach and the strip we’re all the tavernas are. The staff are lovely and friendly especially Helen in the restaurant and Tetta on reception. My advise to anyone would be pay the extra for a refurbished room on a high level.

Stayed with my adult daughter in July.

The hotel is perfectly placed, just a short walk from the beach, and lots of tavernas to eat at.
Kalimaki beach is stunning, the sea is so clear.

We had room 314, which was beautifully appointed.
The bathroom had a walk-in shower, which was superb.
Our twin beds were really comfortable, the room was spotlessly clean.
We had a fridge, kettle, and a TV.
The balcony overlooks the pool and play park, and is well equipped with a table, chairs, and a clothes drier rack. (Ideal for towels and swimwear overnight)

The staff at the hotel are really helpful and friendly. It feels a very safe place to stay.

We hired a safety deposit for 20 euros, and paid for air conditioning, as it was a particularly hot time. (10 euros a day)

The breakfast is very plentiful, and varies daily with different options available.
The hotel bar has lots of cocktails available, plus all the usual drinks.
Competitively priced too.

We would recommend this hotel it ticks every box - the lovely staff at the Ionian Blue, and the resort of Kalimaki are lovely.
