Check in was good and quick, I hadn’t realised that air con was extra so paid for that along with the tourist tax.
We were in room 111. Unfortunately this is where I felt disappointed. The room was tiny and the shower was a joke. The shower was tiny and the doors didn’t close properly so flooded the bathroom, also the shower had a tap sticking out halfway up one wall and a shelf sticking out halfway up the other. It was a nightmare. Also they are solar heated so don’t expect a hot shower on a morning until the sun has warmed the water. I’ve never avoided having a shower so much ever. I had to turn the water off to wash my hair and body. The door frame around the bathroom door was covered in something awful. The doors of the wardrobe were a mess and the balcony light never got switched on so I couldn’t read my book on the balcony which is part of my holiday. Several lights didn’t work in the room as well as one bedside light switch falling off.
Breakfast is a highlight of my holidays normally but I’ve never felt so disappointed. The plates are side plates and you can’t fit 2 pieces of toast side by side, along with the cereal bowls being tiny. Everyday there are 2 warm items which ranged from pizza to sausages. Basically I had toast and a croissant every morning which was a disappointment. Also you have to collect your own cutlery and put your dishes away.
We got up at 7am to go on a trip and noticed all of the loungers had towels on even though there were signs saying it wasn’t allowed. I hate the stress of this and it doesn’t make for a relaxing holiday for me. Instead we went to the beach and paid 20 euro there.
We spoke to many guests who return year after year. It seems they get the good rooms and service while others are forgotten about.
At 50 years old we were the youngest I saw there yet we were given a room on the ground floor with a ramp to it, meanwhile we saw people in their 80s struggling upstairs, it didn’t make sense to put the youngest guests in the most accessible room.
Kalamaki is ok, but basically a purpose built street if restaurants. We got the bus into Zante town and that was so much nicer and more authentic. We walked the beach to Lagañas and that area was wild, and for the young crowd.
Overall it was ok but because of the breakfast and shower I wouldn’t return to this hotel.
The breakfast is really poor very little choice, continental style, the word I would give this is cheap. Tui rep did nothing to help with our situation. Zante is the worst Island that we have stayed on, run down no promenade nowhere to walk just a strip of over priced restaurants on a very dangerous road with very few pavements and boy racers speeding. This is the worst holiday that we have been on and looking at the other reviews from people coming back every year they are probably favoured with the better rooms.

The room was modern looking with not a lot of space, there weren't enough drawers to put your clothes mainly shelves, the bathroom was a wet room and modern in style and of a decent size, the room had a mini fridge which you could only fit one large bottle of water in with a carton of milk. there was a kettle, a couple of cups and plastic glasses and 2 teaspoons. no other cutlery. The balcony was a good size and it was great sat there watching the planes coming in to land as we were just off the flight path, you could nearly see the pilots in the plane. The beds were hard and towards the end of our stay started getting aches and pains. A basic average room.
Breakfast was ok not a huge amount of choice and some mornings you had a choice of eggs cooked in 2 different was such as fried and an omelette, along side boiled eggs the usual continental assortment and a couple of cereals. there was one coffee machine and one juice machine and a small rotating toaster. The breakfast was slightly challenging at times as there was not a lot of room to move, and with queues for the machines it could be quite annoying.
The gardeners worked hard on maintaining the gardens which were a work of art, the hotel on a whole was aimed towards the older generation as there was no entertainment, no kids pool and a very chilled place to be, which we enjoyed very much.
The entertainment in the hotel across the way could be quite loud on the evenings.
The pool and surroundings are great and the bar is a great place to relax and enjoy the wide range of drinks available. A bottle of Mythos for €3 and a glass of wine for €2.50 you really can't go wrong. Breakfast is continental and a good selection available to suit all requirements.
Delight Bar at the top of the road is great for both food and drink and the staff were so friendly. We also did the Greek night at The Family Restaurant which was really enjoyable, Olive Tree is another for a lovely meal though we found the staff not as engaging as everywhere else however the dining our highlight had to be at Pandesia Restaurant where Lorenzo (aka The Godfather) and his team make it such an amazing experience.
We also did the midnight cruise through Nefis Travel who have always been our go to your company as everything is so well organised.
We had a truly wonderful time here and the week absolutely flew by. We hope to get back one day soon and would highly recommend Louros Beach Hotel and Kalamaki for a truly Greek holiday experience.
"Hotel is really close to the airport so no need to worry about how long the transfer will be."Read full review
