My hosts, Pema and Tenzing are quiet welcoming and helpful and provided useful insights and tips. I'll definitely recommend this place. Food is good and the collection of plants in their patio is excellent. The fish tank is quiet innovative.

I loved that place. The manager, Ms Pema, is a real gem - always helpful and friendly; other staff was fast and efficient, too. The rooms are rather basic and unheated, but otherwise they have all the necessary amenities. I liked the food (both breakfast and dinner). The location is very convenient both for the main pedestrian area and the palace on the ridge. Oh, and it has a pleasant garden on the slope.

For a budget place, mintokling really does the trick! Pema and Tenzing are very welcoming and very helpful. They gave me a lot of useful suggestions and tips for traveling sikkim and were prompt with any room needs. Was also very quiet amidst the hustle and bustle of Gangtok, which was good. Made it easier to sleepy. Definitely recommend this place to those seeking a homestay like feel in a city!

Although the rooms here are a little basic, for those travelling on a budget or wanting some character to their stay the Mintokling has some real positives to offer. The owner/staff are tremendously helpful and were only too willing to find ways of making our short stay more pleasant. Wi-fi is very good, the food puts some more expensive hotels in the region to shame, and the garden is lovely. As I say, rooms are old fashioned and basic, lacking things like clothes hangers. The shower was frighteningly hot and needed care. Furnishings are worn. But for a short stay this mattered less than the lengthy menu of freshly cooked dishes available, several of which made good use of local ingredients and fresh vegetables. We were not fortunate enough to see the mountains, due to cloud and we noticed more noise than other reviewers, although I agree that if the dogs stop barking outside it can be blissfully quiet. You do hear other guests, perhaps rather too vividly. But overall we thought this was an ok place to stay, worth three stars but tipped over the four star boundary by the food.

This wonderful hotel is run by Dr. Pulgar’s daughter Pema and her brother Tenzing. They ensure that their guests are comfortable. The rooms are large and welcoming and the breakfast that is included in the fare, is more than adequate. A homely and lovely place to stay in Gangtok and it is quite close to M.G road. It has a lovely garden also.

Very kind and interesting people running this place. It is a few minutes walk downhill to MG Marg, close to the White House Flower Show and Palace. Generally en suite B&B style rather than hotel. Very good breakfast and a la carte dinner. Wifi everywhere in principle but a bit flaky away from reception area on our stay. Spacious comfortable room, shower with immersion heater so you have to be efficient and plan ahead. Nice small garden area, suggest chatting with the gentleman that feeds the fish. Quiet at night, very little dog barking problem considering the location.

I traveled solo and stayed in Mintokling guest house. It can say that it is a safe for female travelers. The rooms are clean and cozy. The MG road is walk-able distance from here and the flower exhibit is also near to this place. You will have a view of the Kanchendzonga from the window. The room service is quick and good. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Gangtok.

Stayed for 2 nights with my family in last week of January'2019. Hotel is at walking distance from MG road, provided you are ready for a steep uphill stairs walk while returning to guest house. Pema ji explained local arrangements nicely and service by Montu was exceptional with courteous behaviour. Wooden stairs make a lot of sound when anyone is stepping on them and can be heard from the room very clearly. That is one point, which might affect the peace of the room if guest house is fully occupied. Food quality is very good. Overall pleasant experience and would surely recommend for stay.

Mintokling has everything that you can ask for - cozy, neat, hygienic rooms, breathtaking view of the snow-clad Kanchendzonga from the room, easy access to the happening MG marg esp if you take the steps, proximity to the taxi stands, warm food at your beckoning, amazing help in the form of Minto, and great hospitality by Pema. Pema and her staff are very thoughtful and I can quote many examples of that. The day we reached after flight delays and a day long journey, hot water and warm food was ready as soon as we reached! We also happened to be stuck for an entire night in the snowstorm near Nathu La which made news as the army had to rescue us. When we reached next day, despite it beyond our check out time, Pema had arranged for our room with hot water ready and did nor charge us for it!! The next time I am in Gangtok, I am going to Mintokling again. It feels like home away from home. Though we travelled as couple, it is perfect for solo travellers and families alike.
