Stayed here for 2 nights for a nearby family christening. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation; our large spacious bedroom was light and airy with 4 opening windows, and had loads of cupboards and wardrobe space with hangers. There were cups and saucers, not big chunky mugs, glasses (not plastic!) and plenty of tea, coffee sachets, and. complimentary biscuits and sweeteners and a spotless kettle which was easy to fill from the bathroom sink. The en-suite was clean and had decent towels with good quality shower cream and didn’t have an annoying extractor fan which went on for ages.

Food in the adjoining reception\pub area was reasonable with lots of choice. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

Considering the low price, it’s a definite bargain. We’ve stayed at more expensive hotels with only basic facilities which don’t match up to the Boundary..

We would not hesitate to recommend this place, and would readily go back; it’s situated in a beautiful part of the country, perfect for visiting some of the nearby attractions, of which there are many.

We booked to stay here as it was close to Family we were visiting and it was the cheapest. Going with the cheapest is sometimes a bit of a gamble, but we were pleasantly surprised. The Room was huge, much bigger than anything we've stayed in before. It was relatively clean and tidy (although the radiators need a good clean!) and throughout our stay it was nice and quiet. We were told during our stay that the rooms had been recently refurbished. I would suggest that someone needs to do a snagging list as there were quite a few things unfinished.
We had Breakfast every morning, which was a bit of a rough and ready affair, but tasty and plentiful.
We had an evening meal twice and this was unfortunately where we were let down. On the first evening, we had to wait over 30mins for food & when it did arrive it was wrong. Also, it was clear one of the meals had been cooked well before the others as it was bone dry. We came back the 2nd night and ordered Pizza and Chips. This took over 40mins to arrive!! For the rest of our stay we ate our evening meals elsewhere.
The Staff were incredibly helpful and polite. Despite the issues, we are looking to return to the area later on in the year and would stay here again.

We were meeting friends from down south and from up north, so felt that this venue would be nice and central. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and how nicely it was fitted out with all necessities.
Alas, we had looked forward to an evening meal in the bar but a member of staff came to inform us that the kitchen was flooded and there would be no meals served that night. It seems that this is a recurring problem and so we were a bit put out about it but what can you do?!! The staff were lovely and informed us where there were other places to eat and made a booking for us at a sister marstons hotel. Our journey on a dark night with heavy rain was not pleasant and marred an otherwise pleasant stay. Breakfast was good.

This is our 4th visit in 4 months and on previous visits there has been some noise as the hotel is next to a pub that does weddings etc. Generally this calms down by about midnight, last night was horrific, guests were constantly coming and going throughout the night with loud voices, shouting laughing, it appeared a room was being used for an all night party with an obvious smell of something more than tabacco. Our room was off the ground floor main lobby which seemed to be a meeting place for party goers standing just outside to smoke. The hotel has no night security or staff so this all went unchallenged. There was no let up as I clock watched 3....4....5am all come round with a group still standing outside at 5.45 laughing and carrying on. The hotel has very little in terms of sound proofing and the central heating pump bangs away constantly and you can hear every toilet flush and door close. On previous visits we have put up with these minor disturbances as for the price we weren’t expecting Hilton standards but last night was just Horrific. Please look at my other reviews I’m not a trip advisor moaner, my average scores are probably 4-5 but if you and your family want a good nights sleep don’t be lured by the price, you don’t even get what you pay for. As I am tired, ratty, irritable and generally fed up please see a couple of pics which I wouldn’t normally bother posting and certainly the lock being on the wrong side of the door I would find quite funny but it just about sums it up!

Our experience was awful!

We were told we were able to eat at the pub next door and then offered food menus before we checked in. After checking in and taking our stuff to the room, we went back down to the pub to be told they were not serving any food for the next few days so we had to then travel further (after travelling hours to get there) to find somewhere to eat.

In the room, we were promised bottled water, wifi and an iron which we had none of. When speaking to the staff about this issue, we were told we could purchase some bottled water there which was not right. There was barely anyone else in the hotel yet there was constant banging throughout the day and the night meaning it was nearly impossible to sleep. We cancelled our second night and spoke to the staff in the pub at reception about getting a refund or some money back at least and they were nothing but dismissive and rude and we were told that they could do nothing about it and return no money even though the website we booked through said we could cancel and only have to pay the first nights cost. The staff were completely unbothered about our experience and became even ruder after we had complained.

The next morning, we went down to breakfast (which we were told was a complimentary full english and continental breakfast with our room costs) to be told that we had to pay £6 each and they only had a couple continental items left and were not doing any hot foot at all.

We checked the booking websites policy again and spoke to the hotel staff again about getting the money refunded and they were rude once again and said that they couldn't do anything until the booking website had spoken to them and we still have not received any money back or any information about what is going on.

It was an overall horrible experience and we would not go back again. We do not recommend at all.

I have stayed in many hotels in the UK and around the world and can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere as bad as this. Started at check in with 'What time would you like breakfast?' '7am please.' 'We don't start until 8am' As I had to be in work for 8:30 this wasn't acceptable. No apology, no offer to provide me with a cold breakfast or a bag to take away.
Next the room. Peeling paint around the window with lots of evidence of damp and a rotting window frame. Loose wallpaper in several parts of the room. A lovely big desk on which to work in the evening, except that the nearest plug socket was on the opposite side of the room so you couldn't use your laptop and charge it at the same time. Despite several claims of extra cleaning due to Covid, there was clear evidence on the dressing table of the previous occupier with stains and 'foreign material' on the work surface. There was also discarded clothing left in the room from a previous resident. There was a constant noise of water/pumps which was not quiet and continued all night. Fortunately I always travel with earplugs so I had a half decent night. Room 1 if anyone is interested.
Using the internet for business reasons I always use a VPN when using a public connection. I have had my VPN blocked in 3 places around the world; China, Dubai and in this hotel. I know it wasn't a fault with the VPN as it was ok when connecting using 4G. Why was the VPN blocked? How secure was my data? If you are concerned about your data then I suggest you don't connect to their internet just to be on the safe side. This is not the norm in Marston's hotels as I have stayed in several and never had a problem with my VPN.
Despite multiple emails to the hotel I have not received a receipt for payment nor even a reply to my request.
Altogether a totally unsatisfactory experience and one I will not be repeating. I have stayed in several excellent hotels in the area. Also not at all representative of the other Marston's Inns I have stayed in.
And why didn't I mention these issues at the time? Have a wander into the pub and meet the 'friendly staff and clientele'

I have been coming here with my family regularly for a number of years now, as we live nearby and it is one of the closest pubs that serves food. When I first started coming here, the staff were a pleasant enough bunch, the food was decent and the drink prices were acceptable. I would have probably rated it at a 3 star back then.

Since then, managers have come and gone, the staff seem to change week to week, the pub has been refurbished, replacing a carvery deck with a pizza counter which is hardly ever open. The price of a pint is now at least £4.50, this is not London. When you do eventually get served (sometimes there is a queue of people spilling outside the door, and often there is just one person behind the bar), you have to ask if they are serving food, as recently I went up to order and I was told they were not serving food for a while because the football team were coming in, that’s why there are loads of tables reserved on a Sunday afternoon. A new menu has just come out, we were interested to see what has been added, and behold, the menu has been scaled back to about a third of what was on the previous menu. This is the sort of thing you would do during COVID, not after. Meals often come with items missing too, they don’t explain they have ran out, you have to ask them.

This is so much better than the Premier Inn on the other side of the M1. Big comfortable rooms, quiet location, big car park, and a small block of hotel rooms independent from but close to the pub up a small incline.
I had a friendly welcome on checking in, and the breakfast was cooked to order.
There isn't a huge choice at breakfast but it is functional (coffee is instant with a jug of milk and a pump flask of hot water) with cereals and pastries if you want a continental start to the day.
The pub and the rooms were clean and tidy, and you could easily have an evening meal at the pub with a standard Marston's menu and ordering to the table via an app.
Don't be put off by the main photo on their website - the place isn't painted blue all over the outside, and is actually a really decent local pub in a quiet residential area.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if breaking my journey along the M1.

We spent a family weekend on 23rd July, I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. The Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, (thank you Mrs Boundary ??)

The Rooms were large and clean, the food was of great quality and value.

Booking in was simple and the location was ideal for trips out.

They were offering vouchers for 30% off a main meal so, as we had never been before, we thought we would try it. However we won't be going again. Had to wait for our meals so we expected it to be hot. Not the case - was warm but definitely not hot. Chips were quite hard, fish was overcooked, steak was very chewy. Would not recommend and won't be going back.

what disabled facility's does this hotel have
Answer from Mary N

Access to the hotel is up some stairs as the building is on raised ground behind the pub. There are ground floor rooms but I'm not sure how easy the initial access to the building would be. It's a slightly awkward walk from the reception to the hotel building. There is disabled parking but you would need to phone about the access.

Head for South Normanton, stay on the main road at the second roundabout turn left you will see a sign with a bed and knife & fork, not sure if it says Broadmeadows , down there untill you get to a small roundabout ,turn left , it's about 500 yds on the left.
