We took a gamble on booking for Greece during Corona virus and all the European travel restrictions. We still have 2 days left as I write this and the gamble has definitely paid off. The hotel is relatively small but perfectly formed. We're staying full board with 2 young boys and there has always been plenty of great food on offer. Breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant on the roof with beautiful views of the sea. Lunch is served at the pool bar, when you're able to order anything from the menu. Dinner is served around the pool. The family room (number 227 - a pool view) has a double and bunk beds and is modern, clean and spacious enough. The shower is possibly the best I've ever used abroad. The pool is perfectly large enough for the size of the hotel and there is a small splash pool for very young kids. Always enough sunbeds (cushions are 2€ and definitely make a difference). The bar drinks are very reasonably priced and the bar staff are massively polite, hardworking and friendly (as are all the staff throughout the hotel). The location is great - 5 minute walk from the water sports and a couple of minutes walk from good bars (Beer Academy and World Tour Golf recommend for kids). Will definitely return.

Like so many others we are repeat guests to The Contessa Hotel over several years.
Our visit this September was as wonderful as ever with all the necessary Covid-19 protocols in place to ensure we enjoyed our holiday safely.
Daytimes by the pool are really relaxing and the rooms are well appointed with many being recently refurbished and most having great pool or coastal landscape views. Evening meals are served el fresco by the pool and the hotel is in close walking proximity to the many shops, bars, clubs and tavernas that Argassi has to offer.
The team work hard to ensure all needs are catered for and always ensure service with a friendly smile. In every way The Contessa is ideal and our wonderful home from home.

Visited mid August. Hotel was very clean, saw the pool area cleaned every morning. Staff round the pool & in the restaurant were extremely friendly. Pool bar was reasonably priced with a large selection of drinks. Room was clearly one of the older ones and did not look like the more modern ones in the pictures. Shower was very small and the shower head was broken off the wall. Annoyingly had to pay for air conditioning (which we did not see advertised) - 50 euros for 7 nights which we felt was extortionate. You also had to pay for the safe and fridge but we did not bother after the air con. The breakfast was very good and had lots of option (both hot and cold). Staff made a lot of effort to keep things COVID safe (we never once saw the bar staff remove their mask throughout the day and evening). Good location. Overall I would recommend this hotel but feel aircon should be included in the overall price. rather than an extra.

We stayed here in the second week of September and had a great holiday despite a couple of gripes with the hotel. Upon arrival we were told that our booking had been cancelled, despite the fact that I had had confirmation via email a couple of days previously. This was pretty stressful having just arrived and took quite a while to sort out with no apology and not very good customer service. The superior sea view room we stayed in however, was great, with a super comfortable bed, modern and smart furnishings and a nice big balcony. The bathroom was fine, a bit dated and with very low lighting but did the job. However, being right underneath the breakfast terrace, we were disturbed every morning by the scraping of people's chairs at breakfast. The sea view from the breakfast terrace is very nice, but the breakfast itself is not great. There were some nice things like pastries and fresh fruit, but in general the quality is very low, with cheap machine coffee, cardboard type bread, the cheapest possible cereal and 'juice' which tastes like diluted sugar syrup. The pool area etc. is nice, but slightly ruined by very loud blaring rock music being played throughout the day. Upon checkout we were able to pay extra to keep our room until our flight which was at 7pm which was very helpful and meant we could spend the day on the beach before travelling. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would probably try somewhere else next time.

First of all lots of mixed reviews on here, I do believe it all goes down to personal preference.
My opinion on this lovely run hotel:

From the steps at the front & throughout the hotel is exceptionally spotless.
Welcome by Lydia was very warm& polite, went through all we needed to know like times of breakfast, dinner & pool bar times.
Then offered an upgrade on our room, to which was allowed to view each one to choose, yes it at a cost but in my opinion was well worth the money (pool view). We also added air conditioning, fridge & safe.

Room was spacious & spotless with a twin bed that was joined together, on request was split within the hour. Shower/toilet was very luxury for me 😊. Rooms cleaned on a daily basis. Thanks to the cleaning lady as I don't have the tidiest son lol.
Meals:
Breakfast is everything you could ask for, Breads, jams fruit, yogurts, continental style, cooked bacon sausage eggs, hash. Tea coffee machine, & finally the toaster..
Dinner, now this is greek food you won't see chips here lol ( go to pool bar & pay)
Lots of different greek dishes to choose from all cook by the no1 chef Fontas.. Two theme nights around the pool zakynthos & barbecue night. Pool is larger with plenty of sunbeds, option to purchase a foam mattress at €2 & spotless clean at all times.
Pool bar has a wide choice of meals & are served throughout the day
All cooked by the lovely Ellie..
Got to mention the funny & professional bar staff too big shout out to Marios, Spyros & Panos you all do amazing job keeping everything running smoothly..
Also like to say big thank you to the reception Ellie, Lydia, & night Christos for everything you do to keep us smiling & the support you gave me through a difficult time 💙.
Best well needed holiday all made by this very well run family hotel
Well done 👏 💙💙

First of all if you are flying with Tui, they do not accept cash only credit card but also they do not accept American Express or Revolut pre paid cards.
Lets get the elephant in the room out of the way first EXTRAS that you may need to pay for. Although Tui do point out some of these extra charges are to be paid locally it does not tell you the magnitude of these costs which can add £100 per week to your stay.

The Hotel was lovely and clean albeit our garden room needs a bit of TLC at the close of the season, shower door not closing properly and loose light fitting.

Anela on the front desk was very helpful in addressing our room needs and discussing room options.Panos was very efficient and friendly at the pool bar and inthe restaurant in the evening serving drinks.

Fontas served us up different food every night and there was always something to choose. The Barbecue night and Greek night food was also very nice. Hopefully we didnt put people off their meals with our attempts at Greek dancing that we were roped into. The ladies did a great job at breakfast too.

The drinks prices at the pool were ok and we did not feel ripped off for water prices but the 2 euro each charge for matress was irksome so most days we went to the beach and found a bar with free sundbeds like Remezzo or Skyfall. I think more people would be inclined to stay around the pool and buy drinks and lunch if these matress charges were not applied.

We spent most nights in the Beer Academy to watch the football matches and the beer prices 3 euro and cocktails 5 euro.Lots of places started to close after the first week of October.

Taxi Price to Zante town was 8 euro or you can get the little train for 6 euro return. Peters Tours is excellent for tours and impartial advice, Three day car hire
120 Euro or 50 Euro per day.

At the airport going home a top tip is to get your water and drinks in Duty free after you go through security but before passport control. It will cost 75
cents for water in duty free or 5 euros after passport control.

Drawing money at cash machines , they charged us 8% per transaction so be aware. Maybe worth trying a few different banks to check the rate. The one we tried was Ibank (eyebank).

All things considered we would return to this hotel again BUT Tui need to be more transparent with additional costs because if you book direct with hotel
Aircon and Fridge costs are inclusive.

Nice hotel with a lot of potential.

We arrived sunday afternoon and were immediately offered an upgrade from our Garden view room to a pool view room €10 a day. The new room was directly outside reception with no very little view of the pool.

Then the hidden charges started to appear, €70+ for the Air-con €70+ for the safe €15 for the Fridge and then this is the one that got me €2 a day each to have the mattress on your sunbed.

We went to breakfast on the first morning, standard breakfast abroad pastries, cereal Continental and English although the sausages were small fat frankfurters.

A dinner menu is placed on reception each morning, its consists of Greek food which okay you are in greece but for the fussier eaters an international option would be good.

They do two theme nights a BBQ night which smelt delicious when cooking but not so much when eating.

We didn’t attend the Zakynthian night.

The pool area is very nice and the pool bar is great, the pool is a little chilly in late September but we braved it.

The rooms where small but clean and modern.

If we were to return to this hotel we would prefer a B&B option.

Dear Hardie64, Thank you for choosing oour hotel and for taking time to rate our hotel regarding your stay. It is with great pleasure reading that you found the cleanliness, the pool and the staff there oustanding. Regarding the use of AC, safe and fridge as you were informed was not included in the package you were offered from the company you have booked, in order to make the package cheaper and then give the chance to their guests to add anything extra they wish. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about that apart from advise you to book with us the next time in order to have everything included and not to have "hidden costs". As for the sunbeds around the pool they are free, there is a small extra charge only if you would like a mattress for greater comfort. As for the rooms as you were informed on arrival time, upon availability we show you the different types of rooms in order to choose by yourselves which one would you like to prepare for you. Regarding the meals, as we serve people with different nationalities we try to provide a big variety of food that consists of both international and greek cuisine. We really wish to see you again at Contessa Hotel. You are always welcome in our hotel. Kind Regards, A. Shuku Contessa Team.

From the moment we arrived all the people working in each and every role at Contessina hotel did everything they could to make our stay in the hotel supremely enjoyable.

The trailing garden plants are beautiful and soften the striking modern structure of the hotel. The design of the interior is tranquil in a calming palette. All the furniture throughout the hotel is very stylish and comfortable and compliments the hotel.

The hotel is spotless and the staff ensure every detail meet a very high standard.

My personal favourite things: the omelette every morning from the delightful young chef, the super clean pool, the roof top restaurant and really all the staff, every single person from the manager to the receptionist, cleaner, bell boy, waiter/waitresses could not have been more attentive and friendly.

A supremely stylish hotel with exceptional staff.
Throughly recommend.

We stayed at the Contessa Hotel for 2 weeks at the end of August this year. It is in a great location slightly uphill but good central location for all the restaurants, bars, beach etc.

The whole experience was fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and can’t do enough for you.

The room was very comfortable, modern, and clean. We on the second floor with a garden view at the back which was nice an quiet with great views.

The pool/bar staff were brilliant getting you sorted with sunbeds and mattresses (which you must pay extra for €2 each/day), bringing drinks to you etc. Food at the pool bar was very good and great value.

The reception staff were great getting any issues sorted out. Rooms were cleaned everyday to a very high standard.

The breakfast was very good, great selection varied slightly each day. The views from the roof top restaurant were amazing.

Overall excellent, very clean, friendly efficient staff, great value, we will definitely be back.

We booked through Tui but having checked trip advisor expected, and planned for, the extra charges. The location of the hotel is perfect. So close to everything you need but without noise being a problem. Our room, on the 3rd floor with a mountain view was great. We were half board. The breakfast choice was great, topped up regularly and plentiful. Our experience of the evening meal was very positive. Plenty of choice and so good to have a taste of Greece on offer every night with rarely a chip in sight. The weekly bbq is great and taken by the pool which is lovely. Greek night provides even more chance to sample local produce cooked well. If you get to try the orange cake you must, it's just stunning. We did eat out a couple of times simply because we fancied trying different places. Lunch snacks are available around the pool. The pitta and dips is great, try it. However, none of this would be possible without the great staff who clearly have so much pride in this lovely hotel. From the cleaners who clean everything from the sunbeds to the rooms to the restaurant and pool bar staff who kept us fed and watered everyone works so hard to keep The Contessa in spotless condition. Panos, Anna and Fondas were the standout people for us with their friendly and warm approach even when incredibly busy. They always had time to make us feel special and well looked after. Marios and Spiros were very friendly and always had a smile. We will definitely return.

Hi Michelle, There is a ramp to take you up to reception and there are ramps within the hotel to get to rooms. There is also a lift to get to basement and upper floors including restaurant. Do bear in mind that this hotel is near the top of a hill and the last 100 yds to it are fairly steep. Ok for a motorised wheelchair or mobility scooter but may be awkward or tiring pushing a non motorised chair up and down the hill, thats just my opinion. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel but found having to pay 2 euro per day for sunbed matress, 8 euro per day for aircon and also a charge for fridge and safe a bit irksome.

From the Contessa you have to walk about 200yds to the main strip then turn left and walk another 100yds and take a right turn down to the Small sandy beach near the Old Bridge. Not the best location for beaches, Tslivi is close to argassi with a long sandy beach but the best in my opiinion is at Alykanas. We normallchill out at the Beach bars with sunbeds i.e Remezzo or Skyfall where the sunbeds and pool are free but they do expect you to buy drinks or food there.

Hi. To be honest i cannot remember but if you look at photo 27 in the photos gallery in the hotel review you will see a sloping handrail that to me would indicate there is. This is at the Pool Bar end of the pool. My wife said the pool was very cold in October. I cannot post the link to the page due to TA rules
