Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice hotel in a old castle in front of a golf course. Sun rising on hole 18th. Peaceful and quiet moment for golfer and even for peoples non practicing such crazy sport. The restaurant is very good, with excellent service and peoples taking care of you.

From the outside it looks a little impressive. Once inside, reality hits. We were on a Viking River Cruise with a extension to the Loire Valley. This was not where we were scheduled to stay. If you are elderly or have any physical issues going up stairs with no handrails, stay away from this place. No A/C, just a floor fan. You have to step up into the bathtub which has no anti slip strips. Very dangerous. When you get out, you step down about 6 to 8 inches with no handrails. I’m 6’2” in fair shape and had to be very careful getting in and out. On our 2nd morning, their coffee machine stopped working. The staff seemed lost and out of sorts. The golf course looked nice, pro shop was below average. I would not stay here again.

Dear Madam, We're sorry to hear about your disappointment. There isn't any air conditioning you're right. Usually we do keep a good temperature in a castle but you stayed with us during a weekend of a very unusual hot weather... A fan in each room is the least we can do and the housekeepers are very careful in keeping the shutters down but there isn't much more we can do to keep it any cooler I'm afraid. Regarding the bathtub and you're struggle with it, we will do something about it, do not hesitate to let us know prior to your arrival, we have some bedrooms with showers instead. Regarding the coffee machin, the problem was fixed fairly quick during breakfast time and the waitress did her best to keep her calm but she was worried that's right. We're sorry not having able to please you more.

A friend of mine won a competition & part of the prize was to stay in this chateau which was absolutely beautiful, The room was a great size (room 107 Twin). We also had a delicious meal here on one of the nights menu was very limited but still enjoyed what we ordered. The breakfast was buffet style & there was a good selection available.

I stayed at the Chateau des Sept Tours for a friend's wedding, so everyone staying there was there for the wedding as well, so I cannot speak to how it operates under normal circumstances, but they were lovely and extremely accommodating to us. It is within 45 mins of numerous chateaus that are wonderful to tour. Our room was in one of the towers; it and the bathroom were large and nicely decorated. There is a beam in the shower that made it a little hard to maneuver, but it is part of the charm - the stairs we went up to get to our room had been there since the 1400s-and the beam is clearly part of the original structure. We only ate breakfast there, which had plenty of options for everyone, including gluten-free bread for toast, and the eggs were delicious. It is not easy to get decaf coffee/espresso, but I managed - fortunately, they were easy-going about us helping ourselves. Also, there is no elevator, so we had to carry our bags up, but again, this is an old chateau, not a modern, luxury resort, and I liked that about it!

We stayed here on a 3 day stopover returning home from our holiday. We played golf and found the course suitable. A flat course but some interesting holes around the lake. The pool is adequate with sun beds that be placed under the trees. There is no air conditioning and so the rooms in the heat of 35 degrees wasn’t pleasant but we accept these were unusual weather conditions- that said one fan was not enough. Staff were good and because of the amazing food in the restaurant we enjoyed our stay

I had high expectations for this property - the photos online looked gorgeous, the reviews seemed good and making a reservation (7+ months in advance of our arrival) was simple. Even as we drove up the long driveway and came upon the beautiful castle, I had high hopes. All were dashed the moment we walked in. The lobby was messy and cluttered. The woman at the desk seemed surprised to hear we had a reservation and quickly informed us that it was too late to get anything to eat (despite seeing several tables of people still in the restaurant when we drove up). We were given the key to our room and both my husband and I were appalled. The room reminded me of my dorm room 25+ years ago, while studying abroad (complete with a floor fan, IKEA lamp and awkwardly hung framed poster) – and that is being generous. A single (maybe a small double) headboard leaned up against one wall (in front of / blocking a built-in bookcase); two twin mattresses were shoved together, essentially on a box-spring on the floor; a single plain, white duvet (i.e., no sheets) and two pillows were thrown on the bed. The closet wasn't deep enough to hang clothes, so we couldn't close its doors. The window had no curtains (but drape tie-backs hung haphazardly off the wall, broken). The bathroom was functional, but WORN. The nicest thing I can say is that the drab, industrial carpet looked relatively new. At first I thought we'd been given the worst room in the place (even though we reserved the mid-tier “superior” room over the “traditional” option), but as we spent time there, I realized the whole place was a dump - peeling paint, dingy walls, broken fixtures, random furniture stuck here-and-there (e.g. a huge couch blocked the area where they had tourist brochures set up, and sat there for the entire three days we were there, untouched … same thing with a mess of tools and construction material in the front lobby). Now, if we had been sold a 2-star hotel (and were paying 2-star prices), fine - I wouldn't complain because it was serviceable and relatively clean. But I don’t appreciate being deceived, and that is precisely how we felt. To say this is a 4-star resort with “traditionally styled rooms with high ceilings, draperies, damask bedspreads” and home to a “gourmet restaurant and brasserie” (which was more like a bus station bar stuck inside an abandon golf pro shop) is simply laughable. I read it was refurbished in 1991 and it shows – it has literally not been touched since (don’t let the photos online fool you). If you can get a room for 100€ or less, go for it – and set your expectations accordingly. Otherwise, look elsewhere. (Also do yourself a favor … don’t just look at the ratings like I did, but actually read the reviews people have written—many gave it 3 or even 4 stars, but the review itself was dismal.)

Dear Madam, dear Sir, We thank you for sharing your opinion on our hotel and we are deeply sorry to read that you did not appreciate your stay. Unfortunately, we are afraid that there has been a misunderstanding as we are not a four-star hotel, and never pretended to be one (we remind you that the ratings given by guests according to their opinion cannot be considred as an official rating). We wish we could have discussed these problems during your stay, as we would have been happy to help with these issues and we would have done our best to find solutions in order to make your stay more comfortable. We stay at your disposal for any further discussion, Best regards, C. Devoucoux / Head Receptionist

We stayed here for a special birthday celebration in December 2017. It was a deal by secret escapes. It was amazing! Fabulous dinner and breakfast. The food was superb. Excellent customer service. The manager was so professional. The room was amazing. Really felt we were in a chateau and not a hotel. My only criticism was the the bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress collapsed in the middle. Apart from that a very special stay in a fantastic chateau.

Beautiful setting for a long weekend on the Loire. The customer service was excellent and everyone spoke very good English. They were all very helpful - even running out to the car to bring us an umbrella when it was raining! Delicious breakfasts too with very good cheeses 🧀

I must admit that after I booked we were hesitant about our visit, having discovered a couple of reviews which were uncomplimentary - however on reflection I suspect they were grumpy travellers having a nag - we had a great 2 nights. We booked a half board stay, and it was perfect! It's so easy to pick holes and before I get on to the positives my only suggestion is for the hotel to update carpets in the rooms; we were in 205: a minor issue. The restaurant was superb! The food was first class. The bar and restaurant created just the right atmosphere for a very pleasant dining experience. You don't need to play golf to make the best of staying at this chateau - its close to the Loire and all it has to offer - but if you do play golf, 9 or even 18 holes after a visit to the "chateaus", followed by a beer or 2 is the perfect end to a day before preparing to the joys of the restaurant. Highly recommended.
