I loved this place! Even though it is next to the motorway, it really does feel you are isolated from the world, in a rainforest next to the beach. The hotel is basically 10 cottages (some bigger than others) distributed around a track with beautiful trees, lamps and a pond. I stayed in the Hideout cottage which had a veranda... More

We stayed here for two nights in the quirky 'star gazer' accommodation. We have found this difficult to review, so have opted for pros and cons: Pros A range of unique accommodation in native forest The star gazer room is set away from other accommodation so is truly peaceful The room has a double bed, bedding and a hot water... Our cottage, Hideaway, was in a lovely secluded spot with lots of quiet and privacy. But the cottage is in serious need of updates - quite run down and dilapidated. It just didn't feel clean. The bathroom sink had annoying separate hot and cold water taps very wide apart and poorly placed. And the toilet, sink and shower were all... More

Te Nikau is a glorious private hideaway in Native bush. The setting really is magical. House and facilities beautiful. Loved the way the large wooden barn doors opened up the living space to the outdoors. Deck stretches out into trees and put to lovely outdoor spa. Very romantic setting. Awesome facilities The only negative is bed was very hard -... More

We were on a three week holiday, with twelve days devoted to the top of the South Island: TranzAlpine from Christchurch to Greymouth then up to Motueka, Nelson, Picton and back via Kaikoura to Akaroa. I booked in at Te Nikau for one night, thinking that would be plenty. I wish I had planned for two nights maybe three. There... More

A beautiful location in the forest with access to the sea a couple of kilometres north of Punakaiki. You may wonder w here you are going as you drive them narrow track to reception but once you arrive you will be greeted warmly, possibly by two large cats. The rooms are clean and beautifully kept spread at random around reception... More

We stayed here with our grandson for a night while doing a roadie around the South Island. We wished we had more than one night as it was an ideal location to do lots of walks and see local attractions without having to drive too far. We will be back and hopefully within six months. Our accommodation was Tui House,... More

We stayed at their first property (house) which is the Te Nikau. We had the entire house for ourselves (6 of us). It had 3 rooms, one of which is the attic room with low head room. It was a fantastic experience to stay in house in a middle of the woods. The beach is around 10 minutes walk, good... More

It is much better than the yha I stayed before. Manager is super nice and they provide free pickup and drop off service from pancake rock. The lodge is very warm and comfortable. The decoration is excellent! If I have time, I will definitely stay for a week just enjoy the surrounding and the lodge.
