Great reception in a beautiful place ! Ribadesella is a super little town with two centers, the one in front of the sea and the other one more "chic" vacation station .
The hotel is just by the sea and the sight to the Atlantic Ocean is breathtaking. We were hosted in one of the front room and were aloud to fell asleep at the sound of the waves .. Spring prices for the double room also very nice . I highly advice to visit and stay in this hotel . Breakfast was fine and everything was done by the young lady that received us for us to fell at home

Ny husband and I spent rwo days at this hotel. I payed a little extra to get a room with views to the beach. They have us the top floor with wonderful views. It was relaxing, just what we needed with very relaxing beds, small fridge and direct access to the beach. The breakfast was also spectacular. I totally recommend this hotel if you are looking for relax, great views and close to the beatufiful town of Ribadesella.

Really friendly family run hotel.
The rear of the hotel faces the beautiful beach of Ribadasella with great walks around the bay.

It’s a short walk across a bridge to the main town with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Having stayed here several times before, I would highly recommend it and if I were in the area again I would always stay here.

We paid extra for a sea room as shown in the pictures on Booking.com. The actual room we got was much worse than those shown, dark and miserable. When we asked to be moved the staff were offhand. After 2 days they moved us but we spent 2 days of a 4 day holiday in an dark pokey room nothing like the one advertised. The whole hotel was somewhat dated, dark and unattractive. The resort is suburban, mundane & the people unfriendly and unsmiling. We will not return

Response from RICARDO G, Gerente at Hotel Ribadesella Playa
Responded 8 Oct 2016
It is nice to see your opinion here too. Thank you for discribing the hotel of horrors. We can not have your opinion in mind cause you said.. 1- hotel somewhat dated- when it is completely renovated (rooms, entrance, reception, hall, living-room, breakfast room, lights, toilets) 2- dark- when all rooms are exterior 3- Unnatractive- A former palace converted a 3 stars hotel facing the sea. 4- people unfriendly and unsmiling- when you were impolite and unwilling to say "good mornig" in 4 days. And I would like to share with you, your husband review in the hotel: "This hotel is well aspected, the staff friendly, the rooms clean. I will certainly recommend to friends. " And we regret to inform you that your husband said before you leave that he will be back again next year. Please try to enjoy your life and be happy.

Three of us stayed for a couple of days in this nice hotel in the charming resort of Ribadesella in magnificent eastern Asturuas. Used it as a base for the Picos de Europa - on the beach in the morning - a hour later among snow-capped peaks.
Friendly helpful staff, great location-a very pleasant experience.

We found Ribadesella and this hotel entirely by chance when looking for somewhere fairly close to Santander, (75 miles), to stay before catching the ferry to UK.

Ribadesella is a charming little holiday town on an estuary and The Ribadesella Player Hotel is located right on the stunning beach. This little hotel was built as a small seaside house for Spanish royalty many years ago. The building was totally renovated in 1988 and is in beautiful condition. The owner is fully involved and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and speak good English. The room was lovely with everything spotless and beautiful, with a double aspect window.

Breakfast was well above normal standards for Spain and included cooked eggs, bacon etc, as well as all the normal Continental offerings.

Value for money this hotel is exceptional and we will definitely fit this hotel in when visiting Northern Spain again.

What a super hotel in a lovely town!! Ribadesella is one of the few towns we have visited in Spain that has been saved from over development and retains many of its old buildings. It's a little gem of a quiet seaside town, offering both a nice beach for swimming and a town for shops and eating. The hotel has a great location right on the beach. Our room was spotless and the view overlooking the bay was fantastic. Very friendly staff - would come again. Loved it!!

Wonderful position straight on to the promenade/beach. Very welcoming and comfortable, spacious rooms with only the sound of the sea (crashing waves) to listen to! Not far to walk into the resort itself but couldn't be handier for the beach. The whole area was very clean, swimming felt safe with plenty of lifeguard activity to reasure you.

The staff were warm and welcoming and could speak English which is unusual for this area. The room was lovely and clean and we had a view of the beach which was a surprise bonus.
You can eat as much as you want for breakfast, all lovely fresh food and lots to choose from.
The room was cleaned every day with fresh supplies for the shower etc if needed.
They don't seem to have kettles in the rooms in Spain, so make sure that you bring your travel one if like me you are a tea drinker. I just went out and bought one cheaply enough.
Fabulous beach outside the hotel for swimmers and surfers. Lots of fishing if you want it or kayaking on the river Sella. Also on the Camino de Santiago trail if you can't get into the hostel next door.
