Great expirience. Incredible domestic organic food and wine. More over, very hospitable and interesting owner Davor. The place includes swimming pool where you can relax after lunch or dinner. Don't miss this.

A real highlight of our trip to Bosnia. Davor was a fantastic host. Kind enough to pick us up and drop us off from Neum as we were travelling without a car and made us feel very welcome in his home. His homemade food and wine was incredible. We were so relaxed after one night we didn't know what to do with ourselves! We stayed two nights but would have absolutely stayed longer if we were able to. We will certainly be returning one day. The opportunity to enjoy real peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings is not to be missed.

This place is an completely different experience than restaurants and Inns only 10 miles away on the coast of Croatia or Neum.

Dont expect any commercial building, payment card terminals, front desk with PC, printed menus or brewery logos. It is only a small farmhouse in the middle of a sleepy hollow, and Davor personally hosts his guests, talks to them in many languages (bravo!) and cooks them his meals. Great, non-commercial atmosphere and Hercegovian cousine, which is so different from the unified menus that You can find from Umag down to Cavtat. The house is nicely maintained and clean.

Overall, I enjoyed it very much and had a feeling of touch of a real countryside living in Bosnia and Hercegovina.

My tip: call Davor in advance, so that he can get ready - most meals take time to prepare, this is not a usual inn! It is defnitely worth visiting.

Agroturism Matusko iis only a 9KM drive from the beach resort of Neum, and yet in that short distance you leave behind the bustle of the hotels and highway (the main highway between Split and Dubrovnik) and enter an area where the sounds of car horns are replaced by the occasional sounds of bells dangling from the necks of sheep being herded down country roads. You are suddenly taken back in time to a traditional way of life that people who stick to the usual tourist routes in the area seldom get to see - the real Herzegovina, a beautiful and rocky country that is also a rich agricultural area, especially famous for its wine grapes. For me, it was a real treat - a time to lay back, relax, and soak in the peaceful rural ambiance. It also provided a nice change of place from the nice but hectic and touristy worlds of Sarajevo's Baščaršija or Mostar and Dubrovnik's old towns.

The inn itself is a lovely spot down a quiet side road. It has a pleasant outdoor covered dining area, furnished with very nice rustic furniture covered in local embroidered runners. For cooler weather, there is also a very woody and attractive and traditionally styled indoor tavern room filled with various tools and items representing traditional Herzegovina life. Outside the patio area is a small lawn surrounded by a garden, in which Davor grows many of his own vegetables, and a fenced natural area enclosing some local animals (miniature donkeys, tortoises, and chickens), all of which Davor personally shows you and encourages you to see and pet. If I had been travelling with children, I am sure they'd have been quite excited by that! As it was, I did the kid things instead and enjoyed it.

The food Davor prepared was a wonderful traditional local meal of lamb and veal with delicious potatoes (just like my grandfather used to make). He also showed how it is all done using the traditional local baking bells called sač. Preceding the meal, were home-made cheeses, prosciutto and "salada paradis" (tomato salad) - all wonderful. Davor also makes his own wine, and it was excellent and plentiful, helping to make me all the more relaxed (and probably too talkative). The following morning, after some good Bosnian (Turkish) style coffee, Davor even showed how to bake bread using the sač, which was quite interesting (not to mention delicious). I filmed the whole process.

There are generally two rooms available, set up for small groups (three in one and four in the other). The rooms are simple but very clean, quite and comfortable. They have air conditioning, wi-fi, modern bathrooms (with properly working drains!), and luckily for me and all my gadgets in need or charging, lots of electrical outlets! Well, there is. The rooms were thus in keeping with what one would expect of a rural inn geared toward modern tourists.

Agroturism Matusko is off the beaten track enough to make you feel as if you are in another world, but close enough to Neum to make it convenient for travel to Mostar, Split, Dubrovnik, Trebinje, or Montenegro. It is definitely worth the short drive off the main highway for an overnight stay or just for a lunch or dinner whether you are travelling alone, in a group or with children. It is a worthwhile, trip-rounding, experience.

This is a country farm with animals, vegetables and wine. If you want an authentic local experience you can do no better. Davor (the owner) will show you his wine making setup and you will drink as much of it as you want. The visiting women might even be moved to step into the vats (not encouraged) He will cook you a traditional meal of fresh meat with potatoes made in the traditional way, on a hearth heated with coals and in a pan covered with coals. He made bread for us on this hearth and of all the great quantities of bread we ate on the trip, it was the best. Even though this scenic farm is off the beaten track (there really are few tracks in this part of the country) and he has to drive a ways to get his basic supplies, he keeps the place clean and inviting. He will meet your needs and satisfy your desire to have a unique experience. The cock crows and the donkey brays. The night sky is splashed with the Milky Way. Something not to be seen at a five star hotel. Neum, a coastal town, is very close and where locals go to relax on the beach. You don't have to stay on the farm unless you want to.

It is easy to whiz through Neum as you to-and-fro to Dubrovnik but, with this place just around 10mins from Neum, you are missing out on something very different. We stopped off for two nights as we travelled north from Dubrovnik, on the basis of the great reviews, and were not disappointed.
The rooms are basic but you are here for great local food and amazing homemade wine on a long verandah. Four of us (2 adults / 2 kids) had two breakfasts, two lunches, and two evening meals for around 100 Euros and every meal was specially prepared for us. Simple food, no menu, but it was fresh, locally sourced and hugely tasty, and there was alway the chance to negotiate the meal depending on what was in the kitchen.
The pool is fantastic, sunbeds and sunshades, and you are accompanied by Nera the dog, donkeys, chickens, geese, and rabbits which run around the garden when the sun sets.
David is the owner and he is fantastic, you can pop down to the coast if you wish, but we simply went for eat, pool, eat, pool, eat, sleep, repeat, and would wholly recommend it.

I've been there on the way to Split from Dubrovnik. The foods the owener makes are absolutely AMAZING. I ordered the Lamb meat but he made fire by charcoals and picked up vegetables from his garden. ( the veges and eggs are organic and natural) the way he cooks these foods is not easy, taking time and very very special. i decided to stay here because i wanted to try more foods. every foods i've tried there was unforgettable in my life. the room was very clean, pool was very very nice. definitely i highly recommend to visit there if you crossed the Neum!!

Neum is not the most exciting coastal town to visit and its gastro offer is quite limited, but that has just changed after discovering the Agroturism Matusko.

The place is about 10 KM north of Neum, but the road is well marked and good. Matusko is just 1 km off the road Neum – Capljina. It is the definitely worth the short drive from Neum, or making a stop if traveling via Svitava.

We arrived a bit late and were so hungry that we left the tour of the place for the next visit. Davor is a kind and wonderful host who brought amazing food to our table within minutes and left us speechless. I don’t know what was better, the fresh home grown tomatoes, cheese, homemade bread or veal and potatoes baked under the metal bell called sac. All ingredients were organic which contributed to the delicious taste of food. Davor also produces his own wine and grappa.

For a meal like we had, and the wonderful, relaxed atmosphere, price is definitely not important, but it is good to mention that prices are very reasonable.

I am very much looking forward to another opportunity to visit Matusko and enjoy in the delicious and wonderful meal prepared by Davor.

P.s. This place makes Neum so much more attractive!

If you are travelling up the coast between Dubrovnik and Split, you should make an 8 km sidetrip out of Neum and spend the night at Agrotourism Matuska. The accommodations are simple and comfortable but there is atmosphere to spare. If you like nature and animals, you will like it here. For an additional charge, the host Davor will cook a delicious meal for you using traditional techniques on a charcoal heated hearth; and you really should watch the process. He served it with an excellent cabernet sauvignon he had produced, as well as a charcuterie plate with prosciutto, smoked beef and a cheese that were all home made. A real treat in a handsome dining room that was formerly a stable!

Agrotourism Matusko was probably one of the most authentic travel experiences I've ever had. Davor was such a gracious host, and welcomed us with a tour and introducing us to all his animals. We even got to meet the most recent addition to the group - a three week old baby donkey!
The meal was out of this world. Delicious cheese, ham, and bread to start (and honestly, I would've been content just to eat that...it was amazing!). The real standout was the main course though - the juiciest, most tender lamb and veal I have ever tasted and farm grown potatoes - all prepared simply ("under the bell"), but fantastically.

I loved that Davor was able to sit with us and chat about his life in Bosnia and answer any questions we had about his farm or just the area in general. He was such a kind man and his presence really made our experience that much better.

If you are planning to visit southern Croatia or Bosnia, I would highly recommend a stay at the B&B, or at the very least, a meal. You will be so glad that you did!
