Myself and my family consisting of my missus and my two teenaged boys decided to spend the New Year's Eve 2024, at Scapes Hotel in Genting Highlands, after seeing the information about the hotel on agoda. Accordingly, we arrived on 31st Dec 2023 late afternoon at the hotel. The hotel is located not on the top of the hill but rather just a bit above the valley. Premium outlets and the Chinese temple (Chin Swee Cave temple) are nearby, but one needs to go up the winding road to reach them. Our Parking was at the hotel basement and the Check-in itself was swift. The room we were booked in was a "Deluxe Double", meant for 4 adults. The room itself was small, but the two king sized beds in the room, were large enough to accommodate us comfortably. All the standard service items were present in the room. The main issue with the room was the toilet and its door. The bathroom sink drained very slowly and so did the bathroom drain. However, the water was hot in the shower. A nasty surprise further awaited us. To our shock, when my younger son tried to close the bathroom door, the sliding door came off its moorings completely and fell. Luckily for us, it fell away from him, sparing him injury. We called up the reception immediately and they sent in a "technical person" who just placed the sliding door back on its railings. He then remarked that this sort of incidents happen very regularly - from various bathrooms across different hotel rooms! Apparently, it had been happening, ever since the hotel opened but nothing has been changed by the hotel management. For the rest of the time were in the room, we remained cautious of this door, never attempting to close it completely. The night was comfortable enough and we all slept well. Breakfast next morning at the "Lemon 3" restaurant was a bit of a letdown. As we were all strict vegetarians, we had tried speaking to the kitchen staff on the previous evening after checking in, requesting for some vege food, due to our own restrictions. But, the chef the previous evening had simply turned our request down. The lady at the counter asked us to have the available bread or toast for breakfast!! (While traveling in Malaysia, restaurant staff at hotels, even large ones are often insensitive to the needs of their visitors and often respond in a rather crude manner and make no attempt to understand vegetarians). However, chefs at even medium sized hotels in Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka etc are well tuned to the varied food choices of their visitors. So, come morning of the 1st of January 2024, we walked warily into the restaurant and encountered a new chef. I spoke to this person; though initially unwilling, he ultimately agreed to our request and prepared some 'meehoon'. The dish was tepid and lacked any taste whatsoever, so both my sons kept off it. We make did with the available pasties and croissants and some plain rice with daal. I must also mention regarding the approach road to the Scapes hotel. It is located about 1.6 kms away from the main road to Genting. The approach road to the hotel is narrow and filled with potholes. There was a heavy rush following check-out at noon and it took us 45 minutes to negotiate this short stretch of road, as it has only one lane either way. A lot of construction activity is on at this place (Swissotels and Novotel seem to be building hotels here too); so one should expect a poor approach road and the ambience to be disturbed by the construction activity for the next 1-2 years, at least. To my mind allowing such mindless construction activity cutting away the green forests and exchanging it with a concrete jungle seems to defeat the very purpose of coming away from the city for some solitude in the hills. Finally, would we revisit the place? My family did not wish to - for our next visit, for all the reasons mentioned above.

This is ridiculous.. Foreigner with valid working visa (who pay yearly tax like locals) need to pay tourism tax. Well, the tax is not expensive, but after couple mins argument, the staff still dont understand what im talking abt and ask for 10rm tourism tax. Please train ur staff properly. I've been staying at other hotel without tourism tax because of my valid working visa. So, i would say this is the first and last time i'll be staying in this hotel.

Nice hotel with spacious room but need more careful about bed linens . It’s seem like duvet cover not change as they just tightly tuck the duvet cover under the mattress to ensure no crumple . Actually we can see from the smell and lines also we can see from the torch light . Room still found a lot of dust from all the corner and window area . We did call front office to ask Housekeeping to change the cover BUT sadly no response. Shower room a lot grouting and the the glass tinted obviously can see the shadow from the bed area if we on the bathroom light 😂. Breakfast so so only and the coffee house staff very helpful and friendly.

The not so good: Checking in and out was very troublesome as the counter is always in a mess and not organised The most friendly staff would be the parking security guard Parking is provided free for guest There was a bra left in the room by previous guest The good: Cold air conditioning Hot shower Working wifi Few plug points still working Verdict: would rather stay in First World Hotel next time due to its convenience and location

This is one of those hotels that are part of a complex, with residential tower and a hotel. You enter through a shared access with the same security guardhouse. The hotel has its own basement carpark and parking is free. Location of the hotel is at Midhill, which is near Gohtong Jaya, and the road is quite far in. You would need a car if you wanted to stay here, otherwise it would be inconvenient. Currently, there is a Sales Gallery next to the hotel and construction sites and workers quarter adjacent the hotel. This area was originally virgin jungle but now is undergoing massive development with land being cleared and high-rise towers being constructed. Construction lorries go in and out on the small road, and if you are stuck behind one, you will have to go slow. Check-in was slow, everybody was queing to check-in at 3pm, and only 2 counters were open. There is a swimming pool and gymnasium on the same floor as the reception and one coffee house. The coffee house you had to book a time for the complimentary breakfast buffet, either 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30. This is due to pandemic restrictions. The restaurant was busy at 9:30 and we had to wait for a table to become available. The buffet had limited choice. The room that we got was on the 7th floor and faced outwards. There is a view to Gohtong Jaya, and all the construction sites around the area. The room was disappointing, and didn't seem cleaned properly. The bathroom floor was wet and there was even hair on the floor. One of the pillows had a small blood stain. Although a newish hotel, the sliding door of the wardrobe was already broken. Although there was centralised air-conditioning, the room still felt stuffy, as there was no fan, and the air-cond blower did not seem to be functioning. The room windows could not be fully opened, as there was a window restraint. But you wouldn't want to open the window, as there was noise from people ramming their motorbikes or cars down the highway, even though the road up and down Genting was quite a distance away. The room walls seemed paper thin, at night you could hear noise either from the adjacent rooms or the corridor, as people came back from their excursions. Wouldn't stay here again, if I'm honest.

Stayed at Scapes for 3D2N. The room is big and comfortable. The parking area is big and parking is free. The breakfast on the 1st Day have to make reservation because of social distancing or what i don't know. Other facilities i not using like swimming pool or gym but i the swimming pool is share with the residences. The lift is convenient because from cark park you can direct to the room. Only the location because you have to go deeper to find the hotel. I will come again if i come to Genting.

Stayed in scapes for three days and two nights. A very beautiful location. Everything was smooth right from the beginning. Clean room, bathroom, swimming pool and gym. Breakfast was fantastic. I accidently left my belongings during check out. Mr suresh (hotel manager) took all the trouble and efforts to courier to me. Mr suresh did not accept my payment for the courier charges as well. Very good service provided by staffs of Scapes hotel especially mr suresh. Great hospitality. For all my subsequent trips to Genting, there is no doubt that scapes will be my only choice.
