This resort is extremely expensive, However, the location is the best to enjoy the creek overnight. The dinner and breakfast buffet are grand. As the information on the creek is rather limited, this hotel seems to be the only option. The ryokans at the valley should be more actively advertised. The meal options should be known to the visitors, too.

Myself and friends visited the resort for dinner. It was my first time and I was amazed at the beauty of the place. Seriously, we gasped at the grounds. Dinner was delicious and affordable. I paid $35 which was reasonable for the food and experience.

Try to arrive before the sun goes down. The grounds are breath taking. The trees, rocks, water, landscaping...amazing. We didn't spend the night at the resort but experienced a once in a lifetime meal for a whopping $37. Super cheap. We all enjoyed "people watching" because the guests of the hotels wore pajamas and some of the children and ladies... More

Starting with a greeting from banner-waving staff and a pint-sized pony-and-cart stationed at the front door, Aomoriya is a friendly place! Service was friendly and good throughout, and staff members spoke just enough English. The property occupies a lovely parklike setting next to a good-sized pond, which is worth strolling around. The hotel buildings themselves are plain on the outside,... More

I know this resort as Komaki, I believe the name was recently changed. My husband and I highly recommend this resort, specifically the beautiful onsen! If you want to visit the onsen without staying overnight, simply pay ¥1500 (about $15). Towels (one large and one small) are provided, as are shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and hair dryers. Typically the only... More

We visit the hustle bustle of Tokyo, the Kansai, and the Kanto Plain about once a year. After a week or so down south in our usual haunts, we headed north to make our first ever visit to the northern island of Hokkaido. Aomori made a good waypoint stop, and in hindsight we were glad we stopped there because the... More

This is a great hotel all-around. It is a modern Japanese hotel with Tatami style rooms (actual mattress available for visitors, a plus!) and elegant refurbished rooms. There are also many great qualities of the hotel itself. However, the most impressive feature is the Onsen mineral baths. The main room is Spartan, covered entirely in wood except for the stone... I've been there several times since 2007. Every time I am quite satisfied with it. Intentionally there reminded the atmosphere of old nostalgic Japanese Onsen accommodations. Some may not like this saying it is not sophisticated, not like a real Hoshino Resort one. But from my eyes it is good ambience to make customers fell warm. Bathroom is built with... More

We arrived in Mizawa by mistake and our taxi driver found us this fantastic hotel for one night. Food was excellent for a late dinner as well as for breakfast. “We were in room 5006 in the main building, a traditional Japanese inn style room. The main part of the room had tatami mat floors, and there were separate small toilet, sink, and bath areas. The bath was the traditional short deep style. Near the room's window was a small wooden floor area with a love seat and chairs. The room was plenty spacious for the two of us. It had a safe and refrigerator. They also left very nice traditional Japanese sweets for us each day (which could of course, be purchased in the gift shop). We had a good view towards the forest and garden that surrounds the lake. One critique for all traditional Japanese style rooms, there are usually no dressers or places intended to put your luggage. So, you set your suitcase on the floor near a wall and live out of it. Not the end of the world, but improvements are possible.”
