Stayed at the GF Fanabe for 8 nights All Inclusive 15 - 23rd September right before it closed due to lack of guests because of the coronavirus restrictions. Well what a fabulous hotel. All the staff are so polite and hard working and doing a fantastic job of keeping us safe during this pandemic. I have to go out my way to mention the Animation team of Jens and Kata who were so amazing and friendly and always had a smile behind their mask. Jens in particular went out of his way to spend time with my 11 year old daughter who felt a bit lost due to the lack of english speaking kids staying at the hotel and even taught her how to play pool. A great asset to their team. Food was good. Plenty of choice. My daughter loved the hotdogs and fries at the pool snack bar. We sat at a table and very quickly the bar waiter would come over and take our food/ drinks order and bring it over to us. Same service also at the bar at the front of the hotel with table service and no queuing.Tables were always disinfected after anyone left ready for the next guest to use. Same in the dining hall. Tables cleaned and chairs sprayed to make sure we were safe. Dining hall was self service but there was hand sanitiser to use before you picked up any utensils. There was a great selection of drinks at all the bars and there is a QR code to scan at them all and the menu would be there on your phone which also told you if it was included in your All inclusive. You received a 40% Discount off the price of brand name drinks etc if your staying All Inclusive. The cocktails were nice although they definitely tasted much stronger in the front bar at night lol. Entertainment was quite good some nights. Usually a singer would start at the front at 8.30 till 11.30 but some nights there would be an added act from 9.30 till 10.30 (Robbie Williams tribute, circus act, magic act etc) Sometimes that would be in the pool bar area. The roof terrace was adult only and had the most amazing mountain,resort and sea views. There was also a bar up there as well and felt very relaxing. All in all this was a fantastic hotel and would highly recommend to everyone.

The hotel check in was quick and I asked not to be near the restaurant, due to reading previous reviews on here saying about the noise early in the morning. I could not believe when we were woken up at 450am by what I can only describe as a very loud drilling sound, but it turned out it was the bins being emptied, was not just the noise of the bins but the dust cart was making the hight pitched beeping noises when reversing. l went down to reception to complain and was told by one of the staff that it happens out side her apartment as well, which was not helpful, however one of her colleagues took over and agreed to move us to another side of the hotel. As they informed us this is a daily occurrences. I would advise if you are given a room over looking the alley on the left hand side of the hotel as you look from the front, that you move as the bins are emptied every day.

The main pool is heated and so is the other one on ground level.

The rooms are very dated and need repairs as holes in tiles. The beds are quite comfortable.

There are fridges and a safe in the room and toiletries are provided no tea and coffee facilities in your room. Towels for the pool are provided too.

The food in the hotel is ok, It does feel like it is done on a budget though as it is not on par with other hotels we have stayed with in the local area previously.

Would we stay at this hotel again I am afraid not, as I personally think there are a lot better hotels to stay in locally.

When we arrived the outside of hotel looked a bit concrete city, not very eye catching but as soon as we walked in, what a difference, reception and bar/lounge area was lovely, everywhere spotless, rooms really spacious and balconies big enough, ours overlooked the swimming pool although didn’t get the sun on balcony.

Breakfast lovely with more choices than I have ever seen in all the hotels I’ve stayed in, I have to agree with other reviews regarding people saving sun beds, they were out putting towels on beds at 6am onwards as we saw from our balcony and staff didn’t stop this. Saying this there was plenty of sun beds so wasn’t an issue but could be at busier times, we used the adults only roof top which was great although can’t pick WiFi up very well.

The main highlight for us was the show the Hotel put on New Year Eve, absolutely brilliant but again bit of a catch having to purchase a bottle of Cava so you could get a table as we don’t drink it, we did so we could get a table and gave the bottle to the lady who cleaned our room daily as a thanks.
We would return as staff were friendly and Hotel great especially location

This is the 5th visit to the GF Fanabe for myself and my now 14 year old son and I was a bit worried that it may not be as good due to the Covid Restrictions but i neednt have worried it was the same great hotel as always just with the right balance of safety measures in place

Check - in
Check in was fast and efficient. On arrival we were asked to show our NHS Vaccine Certificate and PCR Certificate for my son and then given the key to our requested ground floor room.

Pool Area/Bar
This year was better than normal because it was quieter so no issue getting a sunbed. If you put towels on your sunbed before 10am and left them the security guard came round and took them off which was good.

There was no pool snack bar this year due to covid restrictions instead you went to the bar and ordered which worked ok but have to admit we did miss just being able to nip in and take a roll or croissant. I also felt this put pressure on the bar staff at times as it could get quite busy.

Restaurant
The restaurant was run well and was still help yourself buffet. At check-in you were asked to give the time slot you preferred for dinner just to help with the flow of traffic, this could be changed at any time. Breakfast and Lunch were come when you like. As always there was a great selection for all meal times and everything is cooked fresh. I felt this year they could have done with more staff in the restaurant but it was fine.

Annimation Team
For me this is what makes this hotel. All the team are fab and work so hard to ensure you have a great time but for me Chris and Jens stand out and are a credit to the hotel. Chris is mostly responsible for the Kids activities with Jens being responsbile for the adults. Both are fab at what they do and have the right balance encouraging kids and adults to join in without being too forceful. This year my son participated in the adult activities (as did i for the first time) and what a laugh we had with Jens and would probably go as far as to say he helped make our holiday this year. Both Chris and Jens make a point of, at the very least, saying hi to everyone and making sure you are enjoying yourself. In my option without them the hotel, for me, would lose a little something.

Entertainment
I always feel the entertainment is ok and passes the night, the more you drink the better they get lol. There is always a singer of some sort out front and different shows at the pool bar. This year there wasnt as many shows as ususal with 2 nights a week being movie nights. The best show for me has got to be Miss Christina Dream which was fab drag act with a really powerful message at the end....got me quite emotional!

Overall
As always we had a great holiday at the GF Fanabe and this is down purely to all the staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure nothing is too much trouble. Everyone works tirelessly to ensure your holiday is all it should be and that is why I will be returning again next year!

We had a lovley relaxing holiday here. Ignore the bad reviews about the staff. The staff couldn't do enough and were ever so friendly!
We went all inclusive, yes the premium spirits cost more but it was 40% off the original price to reflect the all inclusive and it was all on the online menu for you to see. There was also plenty of choice and the all inclusive cocktails were delicious.
The food was great and a really good choice. Breakfast there was always plenty of choice although I did end up eating lots of pancakes but that's because they were so delicious and freshly cooked.There was always a fresh cooked counter that would vary from different meats, fajitas, stir fried vegetables. They really tried to cater for everyone. They even included vegan options and labeled the foods for people with allergies.
They asked for times to be booked but this could be done on the app, we deviated from this without any issues but I assume its so they don't get a huge rush due to covid, it made us feel very safe.
We had no trouble in getting sun loungers and the life guards were near all the pools watching which was very reassuring.
Yes the pool doesn't open til 10am but can't say that made any difference at all, could well be that is when the life guards come on duty, who knows but it really wasn't a big deal and it was still open at 8pm at night.
It was a spotlessly clean hotel and we felt very safe with staff reminding people regularly how to wear masks properly.
I would definitely come back here, we had a great time. We ate at the hotel most evenings and didn't get bored at all, plenty of variety and we enjoyed the evening entertainment which would vary from acrobats to a magic show.
The beach is a 10 minute walk( and I walk pretty slow). It's on a bit of a hill but nothing drastic at all. There are plenty of shops and restaurants on the sea front. There is also a shop in the hotel and one a 2 minute walk away over the road.
A lovely hotel with amazing staff, cannot complain especially at the price of a week all inclusive.

Stayed for a week beginning of December. We Emailed the hotel twice asking for a room on the top floor with a sea / pool view but unfortunately didnt get one. Understandably this isnt always possible but when the hotel Emails u back stating they would try but theyre at full capacity, then when u arrive, u find this isnt the case. Many rooms on our floor were empty, along with others on the top floor. We went Bed & Breakfast & glad we did, although the breakfast choice was very good, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, bread etc, unfortunately ALL the hot food (or meant to be hot food) eg: sausages, bacon, beans, hash browns, scrambled egg & mushrooms were cold every morning despite being on hotplates. The only decent hot breakfast food available were the freshly made omelettes. This made us glad we didnt go All Inc as other guests who were All Inc told us that the lunch & dinner were also lukewarm/cold.

The hotel itself is very nice & very clean & the staff were all friendly. We used the rooftop area & pools every day rather than the main pool due to half of the pool & sunbed area being in the shade all day. Room was cleaned, towels replaced & beds were made every day, but we did notice that the bed sheets were not changed at all during our weeks stay, we noticed slight marks on the sheets when we arrived (nothing major) but this is how we knew they hadnt been changed, not what youd expect from a 4* hotel. Despite this, the cleaners were always friendly & always said hello.

As Covid is still around, the hotel was very good with coping with it, masks were always worn by both staff & guests & everyone stuck to it, there was also plenty of hand sanitiser all around the hotel wherever u needed it & high praise to them for that.

I dont usually do reviews but felt this one had to be done just to help the hotel management aware of these small negatives & make them better. I noticed the hotel does respond to some reviews so if you do respond to this one, please look into & rectify the hot food situation & keep it hot not cold. Would we stay here again?? No, we wouldnt, more because of the let down with the food situation than anything else. Considering we paid for Bed & Breakfast Board only, we felt let down with continuous daily cold english full breakfasts so didnt consider the stay value for money. Such a shame for a nice looking & clean hotel. Despite these niggles we did have a great holiday.

We are sorry you were not happy with the position of your room; we do try to honour our guest's special requests as much as possible but it is, unfortunately, not always possible. Regarding the buffet, we comply with all health and safety procedure, which includes checking the temperature of our dishes at every meal service. We regret that the food was not served as hot as you would have preferred; we will ensure our staff are aware of this feedback so that extra care can be taken to ensure we do not fall down in this area. Concerning the sheets, and as part of our environmental policy, in all the rooms there is a card which guests can leave on the bed whenever they wish their sheets to be changed, we regret any misunderstanding in this regard. Arrived just before 10pm just managed to get into the buffet for some dinner and went to our room which looked into a car park staff did move us to a view of the pool. There was a fridge in the room with absolutely nothing in it not even a bottle of water no kettle to have a cup of tea or iron asked reception and was told to hire and iron and kettle for 20euros iron was a travel iron with a British plug and a ironing board only suitable for ironing socks it was so small. And as for the restaurant you need to book I wanted all inclusive so I could suit myself but couldn’t as you had to go with there appointment times food it was the same as for lunch and dinner not catering very well for the British as for the restaurant staff arrogant when they realise you are all inclusive they serve you last.this hotel is apparently a 4 star hotel but I believe they are struggling to meet 2 stars very dated rooms but it was clean maids do work hard.

We regret that you were not happy with the position of your room. We always try to allocate guests in the area of their choice if they have added any request to their booking. For other guests, if they do not like their allocated room, we will always offer a room change if this is possible, subject to our availability. This may be on the day of the request or perhaps on subsequent days if the hotel is full. Concerning the kettle, this is offered with bookings for our suites; for all other guests we offer the possibility to rent it at the reception. Our minibar service is a la carte, you can find a list of drinks which you can order directly from your room, we sorry we could not give you this information during your stay. As for the clothes to be ironed, we have a laundry service, the iron and ironing board are an additional free service that and upon availability we are sorry for any inconvenience or delay. We do not make any kind of distinction between our guests when it comes to always offering careful and personalized attention, please accept our apologies if you felt this at any time. Having been to 4 star hotels across Asia this Hotel is more 3 star than 4 star. The hotel itself is nice and we had a really good sized room, but it’s obvious there is some cost cutting which they probably blame on covid, that to me put it in 3 stars only. The room towels were so thin they could only be used once. Pool towels similar. No pamper kits in rooms like dressing gowns or slippers. No complimentary toiletries except for a very cheap looking shower gel dispenser and toilet roll. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice but no poached eggs. Lunch and dinner not as good. Over cooked veg. Sliced roast meat dried up under the heat lamps. Choice not very appealing and very disappointing. Due to this we chose to have our Christmas out of the hotel. It would also have been nice to be able to have a coffee after dinner but the machines are only switched on at breakfast, so only those on AI could benefit from a coffee included with their meal, us on HB would have to pay for the luxury of an after dinner coffee. The evening entertainment was on a 7 day repeat, but all acts whether guitarist or singer used the same song list, so they were pretty much repeated every day. The only ones who did something completely different were the Two Tenor’s. We requested ahead of arrival a high floor with sea view which we got, however the back of the kitchens are below us, so we had the bin men before it was light, then deliveries and finally the bins being hosed out. Had we chosen another room, street view for example we would have the karaoke bar from across the street until midnight and depending on your level as entertaining you could be in for a good night or absolutely dire one. Hotel location spot on for bars, restaurants and beach. Roof top sun deck and splash pools good, but a little bit breezy in December.

Half board Holiday... as a fussy eater I don't usually book half board but because of covid and Tenerife being at alert level 4 we thought best to choose this option expecting to eat out most of the time if there was no problems in resort, Did not need to eat out as food was the best I have ever had in a hotel good choice Breakfast and evening meal there was something for everyone well cooked and tasty. Holiday was lovely with nightly entertainment, pool area clean with additional option of using roof top pool (adults only) .as with most hotels towels were placed on sun loungers but often not used did not impact on us as we prefer to go to the beach. We were on top floor overlooking the road but again not a problem for us but not the best view ! Room were clean and a good size beds large and comfortable the only problem we experienced was that the shower over the bath sprayed under the shower panel soaking the floor so needed to use the bath foot mat rolled up to soak up the water small price to pay in what is a pleasant, comfortable clean hotel. Great location. Would definitely return and would recommend to others.

I came to the gf fanabe with my daughter who is 13. The hotel was clean and the food was good and staff helpful.
The only fault I have is unfortunately a deal breaker as it was the noise. Our room overlooked the outside stage and it was literally like having the band in the room with you! We bought ear plugs but these didn’t compete with the sound. The bands finished at 11pm then the karaoke or dj music played. This finished around midnight but then the guests would be singing and raucous until at least 1.30am (this was every single night). On a morning the cleaners were down at the same area bright and early at 7am dragging tables around to clean up so you couldn’t even catch up on sleep by having a lay in! I never normally review and have always taken every review with a pinch of salt . But this put a huge dampener on the holiday as the hotel was great apart from this one thing. And I feel it’s something that should be mentioned. I am flying home feeling like I need a holiday! And if you are a couple who want to chill or have young children who need sleep or you go to bed before 1.30 am then I would request a room FAR away from the stages or maybe choose somewhere else. I won’t be returning sadly. I do not feel rested like I normally do after a weeks holiday, I don’t normally return home with bags under my eyes! Such a shame.

large free carpark at the rear of the hotel 2 mins walk just make sure its not parked there on market days thursday and sat because they will tow it away hope this helps.
