The transfer from the airport stopped at the Fabrika bus stop at the edge of the town. The reason became obvious as I traversed the narrow winding streets with the help of Google maps and a couple of friendly locals. Thankfully Vila Pinelopi seems quite well known. From the reception at Kalita restaurant I was guided further into the maze to my room. Basic but clean and spacious with a small kitchen and a balcony with just enough room for two chairs and a small fixed table overlooking a courtyard. Very pleasant for the price and relatively quiet for Mykonos. A small TV sat up in the rafters so I didn't bother trying it out. Wifi was intermittently usable but generally too slow for more than low-res steaming. The room was tastefully decorated with a couple of nice artworks. Nice, shaded communal areas mean this would have been a pleasant place for a longer stay despite not having a sea view. And even after just one day I was able to find my way there and back through the maze without Google using the Asmeth shop and Kalita restuarant as signposts. Despite the obvious navigation issues, this is lovely, convenient location, right in the midst of the white-washed splendour of Mykonos surrounded by posh shops and a few minutes walk from the harbour restaurants. The optional €10 buffet breakfast at Kalita is worth it. A lovely spot to sit and have breakfast.

Getting there: Buses from the airport (€2) stop at Fabrika, the main stop on the edge of the old town near the iconic windmills. Taxis won't be able to get you any closer. It is about a 10 minute walk from there to the apartment through the maze of streets. Use Google maps to get you close then ask locals. The reception is at Kalita restaurant, somewhat easier to find than the actual rooms which are in fact just around a couple of corners once you get your bearings.

Getting around: Buses to the main beaches leave from Fabrika (above). €1.80 each way. The airport bus also goes to the new port which is otherwise about a 45 minute walk. The walk is hilly over a narrow road without a footpath most of the way but I managed it both ways with a backpack without getting run over. The buses are only ever hour at best.

We just spent 9 days in Mykonos and we stayed at Villa Pinelopi. There were four of us: my boyfriend and myself and another (straight) couple of friends. We booked two studios at Villa Pinelopi, almost facing each other, so we could have breakfast on the little patios together, as well as pre-dinner drinks.
Villa Pinelopi is a small complex of some 10 or more studio apartments arranged around a central garden, in the middle of Mykonos town, close to Mantos square and the (old) harbour. The studios we booked had a kitchenette each, very basic, plus a bed, a closet and the bathroom with shower. Our studio (#5) only had door and windows on one side, so it got a little musty, but the air conditioning was working great, we would turn it on for a couple of hours after dinner and then turn it off to sleep (it wasn't very noisy anyway). Our friends' studio (#3) had two windows and had great cross-ventilation.
The mini-complex is located conveniently near a bakery, where in the morning you can buy all sorts of bread, sweet treats or savoury delicacies such as spanakopita etc.
The bathroom worked perfectly, all the fixtures were new and in perfect order (toilets can be iffy in Greece). The hotel also gives shampoo, bath foam, etc.
The towel service was amazing. Despite our best efforts to signify that we didn't need towels changed and so avoid waste of soap and water, all towels were replaced every day with freshly laundered ones that had dried in the sun and were smelling the natural perfume of the summer air on a Greek island.
The owner and her assistants are very nice and they even gave us a bottle of Greek liquor as a present! There is one dog and a few cats who are more or less resident of the Villa.
The only little complain I would have concerns the kitchenette. While they do leave rusks and butter and honey etc. for breakfast, the place had zero kitchen supplies and very limited utensils and tools. One night we decided to have dinner at home and we had to buy everything, including salt and oil. Plus, the area is so cramped that it is not easy to cook there, it is ok for simple breakfasts but that's pretty much it.
One annoying feature we got was a dog from a house nearby who would start barking at 5:30 am and continue at almost regular intervals, every 10 or 15 minutes, but it disappeared in the last few days (maybe someone killed it?).
For the rest, Mykonos is spectacular as ever, and it hasn't changed much at all since 1999, when I had been there last. Oh, and thanks to Donny who's the Tripadvisor expert for Mykonos and helped us with lots of important tips.

Honestly, it was almost the only one accomodation my couple and I could afford, there werw very nice things and other things not very nice. The first wrong thing is that after a tiring trip, you must carry all your lugagge by those street, which are like a labyrinth, and you get to the ddor of Villa Pinelopi, you find that the door is closed because the reception is in other hotel!!! Would it be possible the they inform to the customers about it before they go? The other hotel is near, but when you are carrying heavy suitcases, it is hot, you are tired and you got lost by those streets, I think it is not very nice not finding the reception. The place is very, very beautiful, the garden, the rooms located in different hights and it is right in the centre of the town, which is great because you don't need a taxi. It is a little bit noisy at night, I had to sleep with ear plugs because you listen to the music of bars and pubs. The rooms are old fashioned, they have all the things you need, more or less, but they are not very beautiful. The towels were clean, but some of them too old. There is a bad odour in the bathroom because the waste pipe is open....??? In the end, the experience was not very bad, not very good..

A rude receptionist on arrival after disagreements about payment, she took us from fresh hotel to Villa Pinelopi round the corner without a friendly word. We had asked for ground floor as we had a toddler but were given a first floor tiny room up a steep flight of steps. The communal courtyard smelt strongly of cat wee, but at least the place was centrally located in Mykonos.
Breakfast is 10 euros each at the fresh hotel it was very nice and the lady offered to made a cheese sandwich for the toddler as we are vegetarian, later when inquired about the breakfast charge she said it was noted breakfast had been made for the one year old and they wouldn’t charge a full rate which was ridiculous as no one pays a full breakfast charge for a toddler!
We paid a high price for a small room and the place was let down by one of the receptionists who didn’t show the normal Greek friendliness that we are used to….

We had booked a hotel room as appropriate on the website of the villa when we arrived there was no one at the reception, a cleaner had to take us to another reception from another hotel to check in, then they did not give us a room like corresponds in the pictures, with ina poorly equipped kitchen, some old and broken furniture where you had your head on the roof of the room. The bathroom had no screen all in the same space was wet everything and was old. the hot shower water lasted only for one person. my score is this because we do not resrvamls a rural house, we booked a hotel and it was not like that.

I never thought I would be writing a negative review about such a beautiful place. When I arrived around 11:30pm (late because my ferry was cancelled due to wind) nobody was available at reception. After calling 3 phone numbers I finally spoke to someone who took me to a room. He informed me that I had been “upgraded.” I walked into a small apt with 2 twin beds and and a double, I was by myself so this was in no way appealing to me but you can’t insult a complimentary gesture. I was asked to stop by the front desk in the morning, which I did, and I was then told I needed to pack my bags because that was a family apartment and not meant for me, however my room wasn’t ready so I’m now displaced until they find a room for me. By the way, not once was there a simple apology for the inconvenience, in fact the lady at the front desk was quite unhelpful and almost rude about the matter. She actually put the blame on me for arriving late even though I had PREPAID the “hotel” for 2 nights. She took no responsibility for the fact that they resold my room and put themselves in this situation. Mykonos town is a great area but I would never recommend villa pinelopi or fresh hotel as a decent place to stay. Ironically I am a travel agent and receive quite a few recommendation requests, at least I know where NOT to send my clients.

An amazing stay on an amazing island. Stayed for 5 nights in a small studio and it felt like our home. Being located in the heart of Chora, the hotel is close to everything you will ever need on your trip. We enjoyed this aspect the most as it allows you to party all night in the beautiful town all the while knowing your comfy bed awaits only a few cobblestoned streets away.

One of the best things about this hotel though is the owner and her staff. Although there was a mix up with our room as we requested two singles (a fact we had completed forgotten and didn't even realise until the owner told us an hour after checkin) the owner was very apologetic and offered us to swap to our original booked room which was twin bed rather then double. There was no need to swap as our room was perfectly adequate in size.

The room was cozy with a good air conditioner and shutters that block out all sunlight, good for sleeping the day away when you haven't returned until morning! Outside the door was a small table and chairs although the only view we had was of the room opposite and adjacent to us. The hotel is close to a bakery which I am told was delicious and a garden taverna which sold delicious souvlakia.

One our last day, as our flight was leaving late for athens we decided to spend all day at the beach after checkout. We were both given parting gifts which was so kind and a great keepsake for this fantastic holiday. The hotel kept our luggage as is standard practice but what really impressed us is that after coming back go collect our luggage that afternoon they asked us if we wanted to shower before the flight since we had just got back from the beach. We both found this to be a fantastic gesture showing how much care this business has for its customers and the level of hospitality they are willing to provide.

I would definitely return to Mykonos and this hotel, the only difference being this time I will need to stay for way longer.

I got it all wrong. This place is not a hotel but a collection of rooms surrounded by walls. There are no facilities on site. There is no-one to receive you. It seems someone lives -
in some splendour - in the centre of the complex but they have no contact with guests. Rooms are OK-ish but quite small and very cheek by jowl. Reception and breakfast is in the Fresh Hotel round the corner. Just very strange. Yes it is central and all that but it isn't a place to feel you are on holiday - no bar and no G&Ts!

I spent four nights at this hotel in July 2013. Three nights were in the studio triple room, and one night was in the duplex apartment (spread out over two floors). Both rooms I stayed in were very clean, comfortable, and designed in the traditional Greek style, albeit a bit on the small side.

I highly recommend using the map provided by the hotel upon booking, especially if it's your first time in Mykonos, because without it there is very little chance of finding this hotel! It's located deep inside Mykonos Chora, past several winding and narrow sidewalks of shops, restaurants, and cafes. If you have a lot of luggage, be prepared for a long, sweaty, and confusing walk - but it's all part of the experience :)

During our time at the hotel, it was the windy season (usually hits the Cyclades in the month of July) and as a result, or so we were told, the wi-fi was down. No worries though, as many restaurants nearby offer free wi-fi. Also, we rented ATVs during our stay, but because there is no parking at the hotel, we had to park them quite far away (approx. 10 minute walk). Finally, although there is no dining at this hotel, all rooms do offer a fridge (and some even a small kitchenette with sink), so you can stock up on your own food.

I will definitely return to beautiful Mykonos again, and when I do I will be staying at Villa Pinelopi.

My husband and I stayed at the very charming little Villa Pinelopi on Mykonos. Spotless, private, hospitality the best experienced during our long trip through Italy and Greece. Little balconies and terraces for drinks at sunset, cool garden. Through the secure gate of the villa and only a few metres down the cobblestone lane you will find an amazing "real" bakery.,every type of Greek bread savoury and sweet Minutes walk to the harbour, past all the unique shops Mykonos has to offer. Convenient supermarket and bank. Supermarket food and wine cheap, wonderful fresh produce can be bought from street stall at the harbour. A range of restaurants and traditional Greek food for every budget. This location was perfect for our 10 day stay.
