Amongst all greek islands, all amazing, Mykons is the one I would rank the last one. I was very disappointed . Nothing to do with local people, on the contrary always very nice but the city itself did not meet my expectations.
Everything said in the general review about the Charissi is "absolutely true." This is a family hotel and they were extremely helpful! Before our trip started, I called the Charissi and inquired if the hotel provided a shuttle service from the Mykonos airport to the hotel. No problem, I gave them our flight information and they said that someone would be at the airport when we arrived. I asked if there were a charge for the shuttle and told €15. Well, the driver "waved me off" when I tried to pay him; no charge. The hotel provided (for free) a shuttle to one of the inter-island ferry(s) which took us to our next destination: Paros island. If our next destination we experience the same "great service, and value." This review cannot adequately describe my gratitude to the Charissi Hotel!…
Let me start by saying it’s amazing to watch a young woman and her parents take such pride in their hotel. Demitra is the lady to ask for anything you could possibly need. She takes care of everything. The hotel is sparingly decorated so don’t expect any frills. But it has everything you need for a relaxing, quiet place to stay. The walk into old town is a bit scarey until you get used to the crazy drivers. You can take the public buses wherever you need to go. The best part of this spot is the two gorgeous hotels on either side. We enjoyed wonderful meals at both locations.
Better than we expected! The price was really good, the location was nice (just 10-15 min walk from the town) and the personnel was polite and helpful. The rooms were big and renovated and the breakfast was decent. Definitely I would recommend it to other people...!
Let me just start by saying that the owners were excellent and looked after us during our stay , including free collection & drop off from airport. BUT , it is very basic to say the least ! No pool , No bar , TV in room that has 1or 2 channels (that keeps loosing signal) and although it says “breakfast” , I’ve never had to queue up to be handed a piece of bread for the toaster & offered a bit of processed ham and cheese from a plastic carton (same EVERYDAY). The hotel is situated outside the town with nothing in the nearby area and a horrendous walk into town , and an even worse walk back (uphill) or you pay €1.80 each way on nearby bus (€2.30 at night). For €190 a night , I expected a decent breakfast with fruit juice (not squash) - not much to ask ?
My wife and her friends had stayed in the property. Her review - a great stay in the property owned and run by this wonderful hospitable family. Special word for Damitra, who was very warm, informative, helpful and hospitable. The property is beautiful but not too huge just like all other properties in the island, rooms are decent size and clean with a nice balcony. Its close to the town and one can go walking to the town. However, to go to beaches, one needs to take a bus. We stayed for 2 nights and after having a sumptuous and home made breakfast, one is ready to venture out. If I were visit the island again, I would love to stay here and recommend to all my friends.
This hotel is cute and family run so you get a very intimate and personal experience. So the best part of staying at this hotel is the service. It was easy to get advice about places to visit and places to eat. The owners are happy to help! Rooms are basic but very clean and the bed was large. Wifi was free and was okay but not fast enough to allow good Netflix streaming. There is a fridge to store food you might purchase from the market across the road. Prices at the market are expensive but that is standard across Mykonos. AC is also very good. Breakfast consists of Greek-style cake, croissant, toast, ham, cheese, fruit, Greek yoghurt and coffee/tea. It was enough for us and I left breakfast feeling full and ready for the day. My partner is gluten intolerant so the staff were happy to prepare a Greek salad for him. They also gave us a lift to Mykonos Port for the next part of our journey - true Greek hospitality! There is no pool but the hotel has an arrangement with the hotel next door which has a lovely pool and deck overlooking a gorgeous view of Mykonos Beach. You either pay 18 Euros per person or have lunch and a drink to that amount. Like the rest of Mykonos, food and drinks are very expensive so reaching that amount isn't hard. Given how much it costs to hire a sun bed (35-40 Euros for 2 people) and buy food/drinks at one of the beaches, it's worth it. Mykonos town is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and there is a bus stop on the corner should you wish to go to one of the beaches. Walking to Paradise Beach is about 30 minutes from the hotel. Ornos beach is about 20 minutes. Super Paradise is a very long walk - 2 hours or so so best take the bus or download the Aegean Taxi app to organise bookings. After walking to Super Paradise, the return bus was full and if it wasn't for some lovely ladies who gave us a life - we would have had to walk back. If I were to visit Mykonos, I would stay here again. It's a comfortable hotel with lovely service. However, the cost of Mykonos makes it more likely for me to visit other islands or even another location. I don't mind spending cash but it does appear that (for whatever reason) the local economy has decided to gouge tourists. As an Australian, prices for food and drinks were at least double what I was used to and sometimes more. A cocktail is about 12-16 Euros which in Australia is about $25-$32. Ouch! Not sure how sustainable this is and whether in the long term, this will affect people visiting. Expect a minimum of 100 Euros per person and more if you decide to have a few drinks.... With that said, I had a good time. I do appreciate the Greek culture - they known how to enjoy life and seem very open to showing their country to respectful visitors. I want to thank Dimitra for making our stay at Charissi Hotel comfortable. She's a lovely person.…
Very warm family who run the hotel.. especially demitra .. she was really helpful and on the go always.. hotel is very close to the bus stop .. a very quiet and yet enjoyable experience .. stayed there for 3 nights and it was a pleasure to see the hotel people take care of all our needs ( including our vegetarian preference) .. Highly recommend .. book ground floor rooms for those who can’t climb as the elevator service is for luggage only.
Family owned hotels by lovely people who go above and beyond to meet your needs and expectations! Many thanks to Dimitra and her family for making us to feel so welcome ad taken care for! Excellent value and location! Highly recommended!
My daughter and I stayed 3 nights here. It is a family run hotel and the family are all so very friendly and helpful. They serve a nice breakfast with homemade treats. The hotel is out of the main town, but we were able to walk to and from town and enjoyed the exercise. Beware there are very little shoulders on the roads, just be aware. They are also on the public bus route so that is an option as well. There is a little convenience store close by if you have any needs. They let us stay in their lobby and gave us breakfast when we arrived at 4:30 am flight until our room was ready. Very nice stay for the less expensive options.
