So many resorts share the same beaches, the same water, the same ocean, the buildings are constructed similarly, the weather is the same, so then what makes the difference between resorts? The difference is the people, the staff, and how they make you feel. At Grand Paraiso, they make you feel so welcome. The magic comes from the staff, not just the resort. I have been to other Iberostar Grand resorts, and they use WhatsApp to communicate between the guests and the butlers. So, I was a little concerned when we got to Iberostar Grand Paraiso, that we would have a team of butlers, but no way of using WhatsApp to get in touch with them. There was no need, these guys were always in the lobby of our building. We were in building 71, directly in front of the ocean. They would address us by name every time they saw us, ask how they could help, what we needed, how is everything going, did we need anything in our room? Did we need a ride anywhere, how was dinner last night? Were we set with our dinner reservations that night? Did we have any special requests for dinner? Our Butlers made a good vacation great. A shout-out to Ruben, Muriel, Luis, Antonio, and Gustavo. An example, one afternoon, my girlfriend wanted to see the Coati (kind of like a Mexican Raccoon), our butler told us where there was a family, got a golf cart and drove us over there, and then walked us down the path to see the animals. He explained to her different things about the animals. An example of going above and beyond. The Paraiso Grand was amazing and didn’t disappoint at all. We enjoyed everything about the Grand. We ate at every restaurant, and the food and portions were terrific. The feeling in the restaurants is that it is more than eating, you are “dining” at the Grand. The Italian restaurant was the best with some of the tastiest Italian creations, followed by the Japanese. The chefs at the Japanese restaurant put on quite a show, and we enjoyed the people who were at our hibachi table. The food just kept coming, so be prepared to eat a lot of great-tasting food at the Japanese. The French restaurant was also very tasty, the portions were a little small, but we had more than enough that we didn’t leave hungry. We ate at Tony’s, and I wasn’t impressed with my Ribeye, it was a little too fatty. I prefer more of a marbled cut. I also added the lobster tails, and they were so good. We did have the steak tartar as an appetizer, and that was off the charts. I would order the tenderloin over the ribeye on my next trip. We only ate dinner one night at the buffet, but we could see every day they would post the theme for that night. They changed the theme every night. You could skip all the restaurants and just eat at the buffet, and I think you would be very happy. The wide variety of choices would satisfy everyone. I thought that the food could be a little hotter (temperature wise), as I like my food hot, not warm. Let’s talk about the beach. Just Amazing. The beach was so pretty, the water was warm, and there was always the ability to get seats/loungers on the beach. Every day, they would run a sand vacuum across the beach, cleaning up all the seaweed. Very clean, the beach was picture-perfect. It was so relaxing to sit on the beach and just listen to the waves crashing. Since we were members, we had access to the Star Prestige beach area. We would get a cabana on the beach, and our server was Manuel. He attended to everything we needed, our drinks, lunch, towels. He was another example of staff who couldn’t do enough for you to have a great vacation. He was very attentive. We did go to the pool, and there was music and activities every day. It was a fun and happening area. In addition, there was a quiet pool towards the front of the resort separated by a building, that was extremely quiet. We never had a problem getting chairs at the pools. The resort had entertainment in various forms every night. At the lobby bar, there was always someone singing or playing an instrument. The bartenders were great and made amazing drinks. It was a great before and after-dinner location. Looking around the lobby bar area, you could tell that the crowd was a little older. Then there were nightly shows in the Lobby Garden or by the pool area depending on the weather. These were about 45 minutes and very entertaining, professional, and enjoyable. We had selected an Oceanfront Butler suite, and the room was great. The room could have a few more electrical outlets, but we brought a power strip to plug all our chargers into. The view from our balcony was like a postcard, no complaints. I could still hear the waves crashing on the beach, it was so relaxing. The maids were great, and they did a turndown service every night. The bed was extremely comfortable, and they had a pillow menu to select the kind of pillow that was to your liking. I can’t say enough how helpful every single person at this resort has been. My only regret about our vacation was that we only stayed 7 days, next time we plan on staying for 10 days.…
