I hadn't intended to travel abroad at all while Covid was still rife, but my granddaughter persuaded me to accompany her, and I'm so glad she did! Our room was fairly basic, but very clean with comfortable twin beds. Air conditioning was 6 Euros a night extra, but well worthwhile. In another review someone mentioned mosquitoes, but although we were expecting some, we never saw any! Breakfast included in the cost was ok, very fresh, plentiful, continental style, although you could pay a small amount for a really good full English by the pool if you wanted. Homemade milkshakes and smoothies from the poolside bar were delicious, and the meals cooked by the family, mostly traditional Greek, were very tasty and reasonably priced. The pool area itself is fantastic, especially for a small boutique hotel like this. It is deep, as some reviewers have mentioned, but there is also a small child's pool adjacent, with inflatables and toys for general use. Wifi in the rooms is temperamental, but in the eating area and around the pool it works faultlessly. The Monday evening BBQ and entertainment is definitely worth attending. The food is lovely, traditional Greek, and the family taught us some Greek dances and performed some spectacular dances themselves. The host family is so friendly and caring, and they all, from the lovely gran to the small children, work tirelessly to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Many of the other guests that we met have been returning for many years, and I would not hesitate to return to this particular hotel again in the future, though I'm not one usually for frequenting the same resorts. It felt totally safe, both around the hotel and also in the town, everyone being very covid-aware. We actually felt safer than at home! The hotel is very peaceful, being just outside the town of Kos, just a 20 minute walk from its tavernas, beaches, harbour and historic sites. There are also lovely beaches, many with sunbeds, only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
There are also other tavernas which provide excellent food only 5-10 minutes walk in the opposite direction from the town.

This is the second time my partner and I have stayed here. The family who run this hotel are excellent. Kostas always entertains from behind the bar, and Minas is the straight man in this perfect comedy duo.

We have stayed in a garden room, previously, but the self-catering rooms are worth the price difference.

If you’re not self catering, the continental breakfast is enough to get you through the day.

Maids visit daily and towels and sheets are changed when needed.

The pool area is kept spotless and there are always plenty of sun beds, although there are a few early risers who great each other as beds are claimed.

Drinks are reasonably priced, choices include draught beer, spirits, mixers cocktails and soft drinks.

We visit in September and there are a happy bunch of brits at that time, all sharing restaurant, trip and bar recommendations, but practice your “silly salmons” for round the pool japes and laughs, and lilo bathers do get bombed! 😂

All in all this is a perfect base to explore Kos, very friendly with some exceptional beach restaurants near by, and vehicle and cycle rental just outside. There is also a reliable bus service into Kos town which stops just outside, tickets available (cheaper) from Bam bam’s supermarket just over the road.

We’re coming back in 2022, all booked already!

This hotel does have a lot going for it in many ways but unfortunately it can’t seem to recognise it.
The positives first.
The location is great, far enough outside of Kos town with the beach less than 5 minutes walk away. There is a lovely family running a lounger hire on this beach (Paradiso), highly recommend. Also there is an excellent family run cycle hire place next door to the hotel. Bikes are useful if you want to explore the sea front and the main Kos town. There is also a well stocked if cramped mini market close by. The hotel also helpfully arranged us car hire for two days.
We self catered and the room although basic was serviced daily with fresh linen and the air con was very effective during the night. There is an extra charge for this.
The pool and bar area were well maintained and there was a good range of drinks and snacks. We didn’t use these much as we like to explore where we are staying.
Sounds all ok so far.
The negatives.
The self catering accommodation is poorly equipped in terms of preparation and cooking utensils eg, no chopping board, any kind of sharp knife, spatulas etc. We only ate breakfast there but for someone wanting to cook a meal regularly it would be frustrating. The shower had no curtain so the whole room which included the loo and basin would be soaking as the water splashed everywhere and eventually drained through a hole in the floor.
The Wi-Fi was also poor with it constantly dropping out.
To confirm the previous reviews the bar area was spoiled by the constant shouting and noise from those guests who saw themselves as “regulars” Unfortunately there were Brits amongst them also. The bar staff seemed to pamper to them, often ignoring other guests. We too were disturbed by the loud music at 2 am
during the Greek night. I like a night out as much as anyone but come on just lower the volume at least after midnight.
In summary this family run hotel needs to take a look at itself and review its practices in terms of enhancing all of its guests’ experiences. It definitely has the facilities and location and we loved exploring Kos, hence the three stars.
Come on Hotel Iris sort yourselves out, you can be much better than this.

Well a top show hotel. The reception area looks the part and the first floor accommodation looks like it is brilliant. Unfortunately we were at the upper floor which has seen bygone days. Really in need of a upgrade. Mottled mirrors stereo system from the 70's that no longer works. Out of date decor ect. I know you get what you pay for but I do expect the basics like a flushing toilet. Every time we needed to flush the toilet we had to lift the whole of the toilet back up. Really not acceptable what ever you have paid. Very, very tired room. No air-conditioning, unless you paid but to be honest the air-conditioning unit looked so old and gubby we were a bit worried about what came out of it so we didn't bother but it did become uncomfortable at night. It's was very hard to find any staff to help you. The night we arrived we had to go to the bar for a member of staff to sign us in and he didn't seem very happy about it, didn't feel like we had a friendly welcome at all. Not a good start to your holiday The elderly lady doing the basis breakfast (okay for us) did a very good job. Making sure food was topped up at all times. Went to the bar twice. Each time a different price for the same order, put us off going and unless you spend all day, night there the bar staff ain't interested in you. On a few nights we had breezy weather and the doors to the outside steps were locked so you could not get out of that entrance which was a fire escape. Very worrying health and safetyissues there. Not good at all. The great thing was the cleaning staff. Funny, polite and so friendly. They were so very efficient. Our room was kept 100% clean. Really cannot complaine about these ladies best thing about the hotel. Thankyou. I won't be back but if you are on a real strict budget this might be okay for you but you still need a flush toilet and basic staff input / friendliness to all guests not just the ones who spend all day, afternoon and evening at the pool bar.

The hotel is very clean and COVID-19 precautions are always kept.

We visited the Iris for 2 weeks 11th to 25th September. The weather was great and spent hours by the pool side at the Iris, where you are well catered for with a good choice of food and drinks from the bar and kitchen, food from breakfast to evening meal are freshly cooked by Minas and Kostas.
( Mama’s specials are not to be missed!!! )

Kostas,Minas and all the family made our stay a home from home and feel like a part of the family, I would recommend a holiday here to anyone.

Kos town is only a 15 minute walk or a 7 euro taxi ride away there is also a hourly bus service to get you right to the middle of things.
We can’t wait for our next holiday to the Iris and are counting down the days!!!!

Due to our holiday in zante being cancelled we booked this resort very last minute. So glad we did. It was a real gem and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay. The resort is small and friendly and we were welcomed by both staff and guests. We stayed in the new rooms in the hotel side which were comfortable. Possibly around the size of a Premier or travel lodge room. Breakfast was basic, however fine for us. The pool is large but very deep. Not an issue for us but may be a consideration for small children. The food at the resort was ok and reasonably priced. The hotel do hold a bbq evening on a Monday that we didn't attend but could hear the music well into the early hours. The rooms are cleaned daily except Sundays. We did however notice that the cleaner sometimes forgot to lock the patio door after cleaning. The beaches near by are shingle not sandy, however we packed beach shoes. We ate at most of the local restaurants and there are several within walking distance. Kos Town is about a 30 minute stroll. We hired a car whilst in kos to visit several of the larger towns and beaches. We also spent a few hours at the lido waterpark. Whilst in kos we felt extremely safe and covid restrictions were face masks indoors. We even had to queue when visiting the lidls. If I visited kos again I would be more than happy to stay at this resort and would like to thank the family and team for all their hard work.

We have been to Kos many times and stayed always in this resort but only at this Hotel since 2016 and I wish we had stayed sooner, the Hotel has different variations of rooms available and I have stayed in them all. First the superior BnB are exceptional, comfy bed and pillows, great bathroom and decorated really nice with a fridge and balcony, the normal BnB are comfy but basic and also have a fridge. The SC rooms are large and well equipped but basic, all the rooms are kept really clean and the cleaners are great. There are no hairdryers in any rooms but you can request one from reception. Breakfast is continental so fresh bread, cheese, ham, a few pastries and boiled eggs, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juice, bread for toast and tea/coffee its all self service. There is a Tourist Tax to pay upon arrival every hotel/resort all over the world now charges this and it varies place to place. Air Con and safety deposit boxes are available again at an extra cost as is the case in most places I have visited and is not just here, I have been to numerous small places in Greece and it is the norm that you pay extra for these facilities and it even says on the details when you book through your tour operator, I have seen some people complain about it and they clearly have not read things properly. We have been here with some friends and family in the past and they all love it as much as we do, there is a great pool and pool bar the Greek night on a Monday is a must food is lovely, everyone joins in and as a good time, this is a small family run hotel and very friendly.

returned to our favorite Island and Hotel, once again we were not disappointed the wonderful family make everyone feel welcome, many guests are repeat bookers and many have become our friends over the years , it consists of bed and breakfast hotel rooms which have been updaed and selfcattering appartments, which are our choice. Facilities include a large swimming pool cleaned on a regular basis and a pool bar which is a focal point for those who wish to frequent it, the bar also serves excellent food whether Greek or otherwise. BBQ nights on Mondays are brilliant copious amounts of Greek food and plenty dancing, be prepared for a late night. for self caterers there is a small electric cooker ,fridge and cupboard space in a large room , a supermarket is literally 200 metres from the hotel which will provide all your needs. the beach is 500 metres down the road, Paradiso beach being our favorite again a lovely family run it,we visited three times this year,The Iris our second home totalling 6weeks and have allready booked for June next year

I had on holiday to Greece and found this Greta family run hotel in Psalidi. I came in 2020 and 2021 bath during and coming out of the pandemic I found the hotel staff to be extremely friendly and courteous along with wing very helpful especially during such uncertain times.

The hotel was spotless from top to bottom and the cleaning schedule of the hotel was fantastic. The food is great the Greek barbecue nights were lovely and you will meet friends for life here like I did. I have just booked again to go back this year in August and as always I check out trip advisor to compare my own experience with others, I cannot help but notice two bad reviews below me that look like they have come from the same person on two different accounts, these people sound like they wanted to moan from the moment they got there as things seem to not go their way and obviously cannot see things from a different perspective, please do not let those reviews put you off look at the other good reviews and give this place a chance you will have the holiday of a life time and make friends forever.

I should also point out the hotel pool
Is cleaned and filtered through out the day everyday and can assure you it’s a safe clean pool to be in and enjoy your holiday.

See you in August Hotel Iris.

We decided to book for an extra night as our flight wasn't until the night time, so we paid an extra night so we could use the room for keeping luggage and having a shower. That'd be my suggestion.
