This was a stopover as part of a Mekong trip but I wouldn't have wanted to stay here more than one night. The room was very small which made dealing with luggage very difficult and whilst the room was clean the bed was low and uncomfortable. The electricity went off at 6pm in the morning which made getting ready to...

When we stayed, we were charged $50 for a key fob that has no use, but broke as it was made out of gold coated fine china (my only explanation for the price or fragility). And the staff member threatened to have us arrested. Comfy bed though.

We arrived there from the boat (going to Huay Xay) and spent one night. The room was proper and the bed was ok. We took the breakfast in front of the Mekong, looking at the elephants taking their morning bath, nice ;-) Friendly owners.

Decent price for a twin share which we literally walked up and booked. Showers weren't very warm at all but beds were decent and room was nicely painted. Decided not to eat there for breakfast and instead bought sandwiches/croissants from the market near where the boats leave. Fine for one night. Wifi okay but not the strongest in the rooms.

Travelling from Huay xai to Luang prabang by slowboat we had to stay one night in Pakbeng and chose Santisouk guesthouse. The room was clean and the restaurant nicely overlooks the Mekong river. We were quite surprised to read the other reviews about theft of goods because we didn't experience this whatsoever (we haven't left any valuables in the room...

We booked our trip from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang over Pakbeng. We stayed in the „Santiouk“ Hotel. We cannot recommend it at all. Rooms were nice, but the people working there are thieves. When we were checking out we put our iphones on the reception desk and within 2 minutes the phones were gone. Later on, we found out...

My and my boyfriend went to have dinner at 7 and came back at 830... Next day we took the boat to Huay Xai and realize his passport, bank cards and cash (that he usually carries on the hand bag) were not there just half an hour after leaving the port... We think someone with a key entered the room....

I rented a room that was easily visible from the restaurant which was filled with locals and staff all evening. I left for dinner at 7:00, the room was locked. I returned at 8:30, the room was still locked. I noticed in the morning that my laptop computer was missing. They pointed to a sign that said they were not...

Stayed for two nights in Pakbeng. The first night was at Doangprasead which had clean rooms but terrible bathrooms. Santisouk was clean and the bathrooms were far better. For one or two nights this place is great. The breakfast is also done well and is cheap.

We booked this place as part of our Mekong boat package with Shompoo cruises. Despite the generally negative reviews of guesthouses in Pakbeng we were really positively surprised. We had a nice and clean room with view on the Mekong. Free WiFi included.
