On 31st January 2019 we booked one night at the lodge prior to our weekend stay in the castle. After travelling 4 hrs by road I was looking forward to our stay. On arrival it was raining and staff gazed out the window as we unloaded the jeep, no one ventured to take our bags

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. I am very disappointed to learn that you did not receive assistance with your luggage upon arriving to the hotel. This is not the level of service we would expect. We pride ourselves on anticipating our guest’s needs and meeting expectations and I am sorry this was not the case. I apologise for the lack of heating experienced during your stay. Unfortunately we did encounter an issue with our heating system which has since been resolved and I am very sorry this impacted on your stay. I have also discussed the issues you encountered at breakfast with our breakfast supervisor to ensure they are addressed. Should you wish to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact me directly on the email address below. Kind regards, Peter Fergus, Hotel Manager peterfergus@thelodgeac.com

On the 15th December my husband and myself went to dinner in the lodge and it wasn't a great experience. The venue itself is stunning but very badly signposted. When we arrived our waiter showed us to our table and we got our menus. When our order was taken my husband asked for

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent dining experience at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. I am very disappointed to hear of the lack of service you received and that the high standards we pride ourselves on was not delivered on this occasion. It is very important to us that all our guests receive a friendly, efficient and enjoyable experience whilst with us and I apologise that this is not what you received. Simple things such as receiving water and having bread with your soup is the very least one would expect and I have requested that all training standards be revisited with our team. I have discussed the many issues you have raised with our Bar manager and I assure you that we will focus on this to prevent a similar circumstance happening in the future. I hope you will return to us again to allow us to restore your faith in us. Kind regards, Peter Fergus, Hotel Manager

Can u use pool in the hotel
No you can’t use anything at the hotel if you are at lodge unless it is booked beforehand. Eg dinner There were lots of activities to do around the castle - not in it and the pool was not one of them.

Yes. The Lodge can give you a ‘ticket’ to enter the grounds of the Castle. They have someone standing on the bridge who will check to make sure you have a ticket otherwise you will be turned away. Loved everything at the lodge and you should check into doing a Hawk Walk on the grounds of the Castle. That was really fun. Book in advance though because they are popular.
