Everything about this hotel was lovely; staff were friendly & welcoming, the room was comfortable and spacious, and best of all the breakfast was fabulous. A chef was on hand to cook a bespoke omelette (or other egg dish), and the selection of cheese and meats was extensive. Evening meals were good too, with modern twists on Austrian classics.

We stayed here in Feb for 5 days during school holidays. There's not a single bad thing to say about this place. Staff were fantastic, from the receptionist to the waiters to the cleaning lady. Rooms were nice and comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the food. Although it was hard to really enjoy it with three small kids... More

Stayed at the Wastlwirt with my family at Easter 2016. I know the area well having stayed at both Obertauern and Katschberg many times previously. We stayed here this time as it's in the middle-ish of the Lungau region and gives easy access to 4 different ski areas, all within a 20 minute drive: > Großeck Speiereck - 5 mins... More

Easy to find. Enought parking places. Very kind personnel. Cosy and clean rooms. Hotel equipment is old fashioned but in a nice way. Anything more modern just wouldnt work. Restaurant is very stylish and the food was exceptional. SPA area is an ideal place where to relax after a long day on skis. Take my advice - just relax and... More

Very good hotel, nice swimming pool, nice kitchen and good food. Friendly staff, large family room (not most modern or new room but comfortable). Single rooms are very small. Stayed for one week without any problem.

Our first visit to Austria was to attend our friends late summer wedding and reception in this small town. We found the Wastlwirt Hotel very good in all respects, and in particular the courtesy extended by the hotel staff. The room was comfortable, and the view from the balcony superb. The buffet breakfast and evening meals were very good and... More

We go there every year with a large group of people from our Ski Club. The hotel is consistently good. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast is fabulous and all the amenities, i.e. the spa area, make for a fantastic ski week/weekend away.

The owner and the staff's genuine hospitality made us feel like a part of their family. The hotel in general is very charming and warm and, our room for 2 adults and 1 teenager was just the right size, clean and comfortable, and afforded us a view of the mountains on the other side of the valley. Although the in-house... More

“It is better to bring your own bicycles (and wear a helmet and gloves) as the cost to rent three is quite steep--more than 50 Euro for three all-day rentals. Word to the wise, if you've never used a bicycle with disc brakes, be very careful and apply slow gradual pressure to slow yourself down. If you use immediate full pressure on the disc brakes while at a high speed, it is very likely you and the bike will flip over and cause injury to yourself and possible damage to the bike and/or whatever you might land on or run into.”
