Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for four nights with nine other friends in three apartments and it was wonderful. A fabulous and clever conversion, has been meticulously furnished, maintained and everything needed was there. A perfect place for a stay in Orkney. Highly recommended. Michael M

Beautiful apartment in a fantastic mill conversion. This was a real home from home with amazing views and a great location for exploring the magic of Orkney. We stayed in Burnside which means two flights of stairs to reach the lounge/kitchen but worth it for the views especially of the sun setting.

Fantastic 5* property. I honestly can’t find fault with anything, great communication from the owners, fabulous location, lovely accommodation with everything you could need, immaculately clean and plenty on-site parking! I’d definitely recommend staying here.

Fantastic pre arrival communication. Easy to find and get into property.Very high standard of finish throughout and cosy.Every detail thought of from arrival pack to extra towels etc. Owners really do want you to have a great experience. Lots of on site parking and 10mins into Kirkwall. Great location to tour the island. The garden area is lovely with benches to sit in to view countryside and listen to the stream running beside the mill. We book many self catering villas in Europe and US and this is amongst the very best ones we’ve booked. Definitely book again.

We stayed at the Kiln for a week in mid September. The rain poured on the day of our arrival and Sheena kindly organised for us to get into the property earlier than normal which was really appreciated. A wonderful property and everything we could have wanted for our stay in Orkney, thoroughly recommend. The location worked for us to visit places throughout Mainland.

Another great stay at Sebay. We stayed in the Kiln again for our second visit to Sebay. It is a lovely restoration of an old mill and if you are visiting mainland Orkney there really can't be a better place to stay. Sheena is both welcoming and full of information that will enhance your visit to these lovely islands. the East coast walks are within easy reach of Sebay. Every evening from the Kiln we spotted Greylag Geese with there chicks and a family of Hares with there young both in the field over the stream. We wouldn't stay anywhere else on our visits to Orkney thanks Sheena.

We booked The Kiln apartment for our staycation and couldn’t fault it. There is parking for each apartment and the location is great, easy to find as in main road from Kirkwall to Deerness. The apartment was spacious and the decor lovely, very tastefully finished. The Kiln is a 2 bed apartment on the first & second floors of the building. Bedroom had plenty storage if staying longer and the bathroom is a good size with both a shower and bath. The second bedroom ( we didn’t use) was bunk beds but again plenty space for kids. The upstairs area is open plan living/kitchen/dining area and is bright and airy with large windows. Kitchen had everything needed. The wee welcome pack was a treat. Thought the booking process Sheena was extremely welcoming and really did make our trip totally hassle free. We had a great time in Orkney and would not hesitate to rebook Sebay Mill.

We stayed at start August immediately post the travel restriction. Found this online booked direct with very flexible and helpful owner Sheena who gave us some travel advice and reassurances in case we needed to cancel in these uncertain times. Upgraded our apartment to a larger one which suited us perfectly. We really enjoyed coming back to Sebay Mill each day after our day out sightseeing and everything was very comfortable and of a high standard. We really appreciated the welcome pack of treats and the well equipped apartment with local craft pieces and lots of interesting books about Orkney. Although lots of places were closed we still managed to cram in lots in our 5 day stay & even managed to buy lots of whisky as the Highland Park shop opened up just before our ferry home. There was plenty of room for our belongings and the adjoining doors in the bedrooms were well thought out, though we didn't require them as we have a teenager. Good for a young family though. Sheena had recommended several places to eat at for our trip, which we duly booked and were not disappointed. We would definitely return and most certainly recommend this accommodation.
