Arrived to find the hotel is quite old but very comfortable, Lovely size room and very comfortable Bed. For a back sufferer this was extremely welcoming.
Bathroom and furniture a little tired looking but no complaints as very clean,

We had booked this for one night only as on the way home from Cornwall and we were having a stop off to go to the Clarks village in Street.

We had the evening meal which was a delicious carvery and very generous in size all the beef, turkey and pork was well cooked and the lovely Lemon Roulade and apple crumble for Pudding, The next morning we had a wander round the small but interesting village.
Parking was a little restricted but we were able to get a space at side of hotel.

A lovely if what brief stopover,

Went for Sunday lunch and have to say it was the best carvery I’ve ever had, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Compliments to the new chef and all who made our experience so lovely. Can’t wait to come back.

I rang up Sunday afternoon to see if a takeaway roast was an option and It is in fact an option. They were beautiful and ready within 20 mins to collect. The roast had a good selections of veg and plenty of meat too! Was all packed good to keep it warm and to make sure there was no spillages! Would definitely recommend!

First, I should say that of the many reviews I've written I have only had negative things to say twice. Unfortunately this is now the third. But let's start with the positive. The staff were professional and service was good. The breakfast was excellent.

Now for the not so good. The price for a night's stay as shown on the hotel website was out of date when I booked though I notice it has now been updated. I understand that the hotel is very old but it seems uncared for. I believe the hotel has ten bedrooms and I was the only person staying but I was given a room at the front overlooking the very busy main road. The old single-glazed windows kept out no noise whatsoever. I could have slept on the pavement and it would not have been any noisier. The floor shook which in turn shook the bed whenever a larger vehicle went by. I managed only about two hours sleep. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and if you turned over you could hear springs boinging. I got up to a cold shower. It wasn't clear which direction the control should be turned for hot but in one direction the water only dribbled out. I let it run for ten minutes but the water did not heat up. I then ran the basin hot tap and it took well over five minutes for the water to warm up. There were holes in the ensuite door where a coathook had been removed. The chrome bar above the shower was rusty. The furniture in the bedroom was very old and there were marks all over the flat surfaces. (see photos). The electrics for the smoke alarm comprised a coil of wire on the wall and a shoddy job of joining it up. Likewise the connection to the chandelier was not in the ceiling but on the surface in ducting. Not all bulbs worked in the chandelier. It was necessary to climb over one of the beds to close the curtains. I could say more but you get the idea!

We changed our first allocated room as the bed was a wooden box with a 4 inch mattress which was incredibly uncomfortable, that coupled with the sound of either a generator or the fridges below resulted in no sleep. The furniture as also very old, not old in a quaint way just old. The shower mastic was full of mould and needs to be replaced, I came out feeling dirtier than I went in! However after asking to move we were given the option of 2 rooms which were much better we unfortunately chose the room where the toilet took almost an hour to refill after flushing and had no wardrobe only a wrought iron hanging shelf. The room could have done with a deep clean as it smelt of cigarettes and damp.
Our breakfasts though were very good and the staff were very attentive and helpful.
I think that they are missing a trick, with a selling point of the buildings age and history if it was given a redecoration makeover, new furnishings, a thorough deep clean and attention to small details this could be a great place to stay I however will not be returning - sorry

Response from H S, Owner at Langport Arms Hotel
Responded 3 Sept 2020
Speaking as the owner we welcome all constructive feedback. However some reviews say more about the reviewer than the thing being reviewed. To summarise yours; you didn't like the 4 poster bed (which I have slept comfortably in myself several times), the alternative was "much better", the breakfasts were "very good" and the staff "attentive and helpful". And yet this warrants 1 out of 5 for the price you were charged !? Good luck in finding better at a comparable price. We obviously have a strict no smoking policy and my staff allege that the room certainly did not smell of cigarettes until after your stay.

This hotel had very friendly staff about all that was good. The breakfast is not free as above £10 per head per day. Not bad however not a good selection of cereal on one of the days. I was in a courtyard room and as a non-smoker had to walk through the smoking area and in the morning had to face an ashtray full of fag ends not pleasant . Room well what can I say as soon as you opened the door the musty smell hit you, bed ok quite comfy although did not dare look at the mattress. The carpets felt damp to walk on so was unsure if they had been cleaned didn't look like they had. The only way I could get fresh air into the room was to open the door and block it from shutting. The TV cabinet top was dusty so not cleaned for a while. Will I recommend or go again. Probably not.

It's not possible to give no stars so I have to give one. We took over a room which had been booked for our sons father in law who should have flown in from Germany but missed his flight. The room was in the 'yard' area and had a small window in the door which would have made the interior visible from outside. The room smelled damp, the carpets were dirty, fittings in the bathroom were rusty and the bed bases and mattress's were damp and heavily stained (we have photos of staining etc). The hotel was locked and appeared to be awaiting renovation and gaining entry was very difficult through a locked side door. There was an open drain outside the room door and a seating area which, if the hotel had been busy would have made the room very noisy. We did not stay and I'm sure that, if the guest from Germany had arrived he would have been disgusted by the standard of room which was being provided.

We were attending a wedding in Pitney and booked this as the bride recommended it as it was close so I didn't really bother to look at reviews. We turned up at 10.30pm with our 2 children and was shown our room it was absolutely not nice at all! The en suite looked clean but very dated but the bed linen looked as old as the hotel and felt greasy the whole hotel smelt of damp and stale cigarettes so we booked a hotel in Bridgwater and walked straight back out! Luckily they hadn't taken any payment from us. Its a shame as the hotel could be amazing with some updates.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting a friend nearby. The hotel staff were very friendly but the hotel is very much past its best and in need of a complete refurbishment. Shabby rooms and furniture/fittings must make it very difficult to keep clean, but you could see the staff had tried their best. Despite their best efforts, it did not feel clean and we felt quite depressed staying there. It could be a really lovely hotel if given a bit of love and attention. The road is very busy and the windows are not double glazed, so if staying in a front facing room, take earplugs. The walls are also quite thin and we could hear a TV until 3 in the morning and someone walking around well into the small hours, so again bear that in mind.

Sorry Langport Arms Hotel, your staff are definitely your best feature.

Hi there our parking bays are only long enough to take a standard car. However the main town car park is directly behind us and is free, so you can park over two bays, or on the road just behind us by the library. I hope that helps? Thank you
