Oh my days a few days of complete relaxation. We booked BB&EM and it was such a treat.

We had a ground floor room out in a little annex. It was really spacious and had a lovely bathroom with a shower. The bed was really comfortable, which is a big thing for us as we both have back and knee issues. The only small issue was the British weather, one evening we thought a swimming costume would have been more suitable!! Lol however, there were umbrellas available and it is literally a skip and a jump to the room.

The breakfast was sublime every day. You get a menu in your room in the evening to pre order. I would imagine it has saved a lot of waste and works really well with a great choice every day. We tended to have cereal, juice and a small cooked breakfast with toast. Frankie was a gem and always so friendly and accommodating each morning. She was always ready with extra tea for me!! So a 12/10 from me!

The evening meals were wonderful and being able to work our way through the menu was a real treat! We came over early each evening and Lee had the open fire blazing for us. We had a bottle of the Somerset Chardonnay in front of the fire each evening. We exhausted their supply!! We treated ourselves to 3 courses each evening and wow!! We were treated to freshly cooked, imaginative, locally sourced and beautifully presented meals each evening. Julia and Lee went above and beyond and were so friendly.

Covid was covered beautifully without being shoved in your face. We wore masks and had plenty of opportunities to use sanitiser on the way in and out of the main building. There wasn’t a maid service (which we were very comfortable with) but you were able to refill anything you needed from a table set out beautifully at the top of the stairs.

Parking is out on the road around the village green. We never had an issue with parking and it was nice and close.

The Devonshire has become our decompress secret retreat and I can’t wait to go back.

Spent three nights here, on a short break. Received a warm welcome, and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
We stayed in room 5 (very good that all rooms are individually described on the website). Bathroom rather cramped, with shower only and very small washbasin, but fine for just a few nights. No staff entered the room during our stay, because of covid, but bottled water, clean towels and tea, coffee refills etc were all available on the landing.
Breakfast was dealt with very cleverly under the present circumstances - by giving out a menu the night before, and asking for guests to tick their choices. The food and drinks then appeared as if by magic at the time of your choosing. in the morning. A special mention for Frankie, who managed this on her own, with great efficiency.
We ate in the restaurant twice, and it was busy, with a nice ambience. The menu was excellent and the food cooked to a high standard, served by friendly and helpful staff.
Would definitely stay again.

We have been coming to the Devonshire Arms for a number of years now and it never fails to impress. They have put measures in place to make you feel safe during Covid while managing to maintain a great ambience. The food, as always, was wonderful and we look forward to returning soon.

Over priced food and drink.A new simpler menu offered strange selection of some complicated items and some very simple items. The starters were very oily, I understand that new rules mean we cannot have condiments on the table but a small jug of the dressing would have better as I could not taste the smoked salmon because of the dressings. Glasses of wine are exhorbitantly overpriced at £11. Again the pudding menu is simple but overpriced, ice cream, sorbet, cheeses .Staff are friendly and courteous. I am not sure if this is a pub, hotel or restaurant. £68 for 3 starters and 2 glasses of wine , 4 coffees. We will not return.

We booked a table (outside) for lunch for my husband's birthday and were lucky to get a table in the courtyard in the sun. We had the pate and salmon for starters, the duck and the seabass for mains and then shared cheese. Everything we had was very tasty. The waitresses were very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed a very leisurely first lunch out since lockdown. Thank you, we will be back.

Very friendly country pub hotel with great staff who were always cheerful and helpful. It was very busy when we arrived but the staff checked us in quickly. Bedroom 2 was large, comfortable and had a great view of the green. Large, comfy king size bed and a sofa. My only gripe was the en- suite was very small for the size of the room.
Breakfast was fantastic but has to be ordered in advance by completing a form the evening before. We also ate there on two nights and the food was excellent, the chef was very accommodating for the vegetarians and vegans in our party and adapted the menu accordingly with no fuss. The triple cooked chips are amazing! I highly recommend this lovely boutique pub hotel.

We arrived at 2pm on a beautiful day and had lunch outside, food was delicious and staff very nice, checked in after lunch into one of their 2
Deluxe rooms ,room very nice ,dinner in the evening was really enjoyable
We booked dinner when we reserved our room which was just as well since they were fully booked for dinner. Slept really well comfy bed ,plumbing in bathroom really let it down, shower was pathetic and no towel rails at all,the only shelf was minuscule so ended up with our wash bags on the floor. Would it stop us coming back ? No it was very enjoyable but please sort your bathrooms out.

We stayed in a room facing the green and the converted school. The room was clean and spacious enough for two. Hotel was quiet. Service/ hôtel staff was friendly and welcoming from the day we arrived to the day we left. We were told to help ourselves to towels in the chest on the landing and leave dirty ones in a basket, as no one entered the room during our stay, Restaurant was very busy but service was still excellent. Food was delicious and cooked to a high standard. We had the pan roast hake with vegetables. I would recommend as a stop to anybody travelling further afield.

We stayed for 3 nights. The room was spacious and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was somewhat cramped with a handbasin hardly bigger than an eyebath, but the shower was fine.

Our room was on the front of the building with a lovely outlook over the village green, but we were a little disturbed by traffic which travels down the side of the hotel to and from the direction of Crewkerne from about 6.30am.

We ate in the restaurant two nights and the food was excellent, as were the staff. The building and gardens are lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Miserable staff could not cope with a busy pub overrated and really expensive. Could not order beer at bar either . Portion size very small nearly £28 for a steak with about five chunky chips . Miller and carters prices Mac Donald’s standard food avoid
