Very remote in a tiny village but the hotel was cosy. The room was large and very comfortable apart from there was nowhere to put your case . Also, the TV was very tiny considering the size of the room. The decor was good although the bathroom looked a little tired but the shower was excellent. There was no other choice...

Visited on several occasions over the years and the food has been great. The ploughmans is also very, very good! The burgers are out of this world and this is what we both had on this occasion we visited. One thing is that the chips weren't cooked as well as they could have been but still were good. Be sure...

Sunday lunch here, small but interesting menu, food fresh and well presented - even though starter on slate! Good food, plentiful and pleasant service. Good value. Situated in a quiet village with a part 13th century church, a good play area right next to the pub.

We needed somewhere to stay to explore Dorset as we are considering relocating to the area. We chose The Stapleton Arms because of its great reviews, and were very glad we did. It was very hard to find especially in the dark, but once there the Friday night atmosphere inside more than made up for the very rural location. We...

This was one of four inns we stayed in on a walking holiday and definitely the best. The rooms are large and very comfortable. All the staff were gracious and attentive. There were lots of small touches to add to the pleasure of the stay like boots, maps and DVDs. The food was excellent, locally sourced and the service attentive...

Booked to come here for lunch last weekend, 8 in total plus a dog - 5 adults, 3 kids. It was our 2nd visit and as lovely this time as last, although a shame that they had sold out of the special by the time we ordered. We found the service to be excellent, the pub to be very clean,...

Very freindly staff and good food, clean rooms. Stayed two nights. However, there were some fundamental problems. Sofa-bed was not a perfect replacement for twin bed, would have needed better matress. Also, housekeeping missed out on making bed, the bottom bed sheet was missing! Manager responded promptly. In the damp weather new dry towels would have been appreciated. Strangely enough,...

This place is a little of the beaten track, but if The Stapleton Arms represents what pubs are going to be like in the future (I.e. only the decent ones surviving) then we're all going to be much better off. There were six of us for lunch including two children. Lovely interior, which was very open and airy in spite...

I have often thought that many reviewers are too quick to award five stars to some very mediocre establishments. It leaves no way of rewarding those that stand out from the rest and are truly excellent and deserve more recognition. I truly believe I have found one of these. Four of us went here on a Wednesday night and whilst...
