With us not been able to get away for our honeymoon, we decided to do self catering. We both enjoyed Slieve Moyle. My husband Mark really enjoyed RingCladdy Cottage. Maureen & Greer were very helpful and greeted us to a lovely Congratulations banner as we arrived the day after we got married. The accommodation was very good. There was lots of places to visit nearby
We have just come back from our latest visit to Slievemoyle where we had a wonderful break. Quiet location. Beautiful clean cottages . A safe space to enjoy views over Strangford Lough and across to the Isle of Man. Would highly recommend a visit.
Perfectly located for exploring the Ards peninsula and enjoying the unspoilt County Down countryside. Mill cottage was a perfect getaway and we would have loved to have stayed longer than our 2 nights. Clean and cosy and well equipped and full of character ,off the beaten track and very quiet at night. The owners were lovely and took timeout to chat (thank you very much for the large armful of courgettes too !) We enjoyed the trails around the farmland and well done to the owners who have created a very thoughtful and well run business that encourages people to relax and enjoy the countryside. Hope to come back soon.
We have just enjoyed our 18th visit to Slievemoyle Cottages in Strangford, you could say we love it there. Everything you could want, a warm welcome, great views and walks, comfortable accommodation. We stayed at Rose Cottage once again and enjoyed its homely comforts, a roaring fire, plenty of space and oldy-worldy charm. A hidden paradise, a hidden gem, this area of County Down in Northern Ireland is well worth a look.
A wonderful short stay (3 nights) at Blackthorn Cottage. The cottages looked ideal on the website and we were not disappointed. One of the main purposes was to meet up with relatives and Blackthorn Cottage provided exactly the accommodation we needed for a family of 5 meeting up with parents for a short get together. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and well laid out with a characterful and comfortable living / kitchen area with double patio doors and a deck with a wonderful view out over the surrounding countryside and the sea (in the distance). There are a number of short walk options around the surrounding land and access to a small bird hide. There is lots to do in the surrounding area with two National Trust properties very close by (Castle Ward and Mount Stuart). However, the hosts very much made the trip by their friendly and hospitable welcome . There is a link with the RSPB in relation to Yellowhammers and I was delighted to see one sitting on the gate beside the cottage. We would thoroughly recommend Slievemoyle Cottages as a holiday destination. Thank you …
We had an amazing week at Ringcladdy cottage. The location was perfect, so peaceful and quiet and so much outside space for our daughter to play. The cottage was immaculate, full of character and had everything you need for a family holiday. We were very lucky to have fantastic weather but it would be also be great for a cosy autumn stay as it has a wood burning stove. Maureen and Greer are such warm and friendly hosts and left a lovely welcome pack for our arrival . We can't recommend highly enough. We will definitely be back!
We've just returned today from staying in Mill Cottage for the last week. The cottage is a beautiful 200 year old building that Maureen and Greer have renovated to a very high standard. We were a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) and the 2 bedroom cottage was plenty big. The bedrooms were very spacious. The views from the cottages are incredible and there are the most beautiful walking paths that will keep you busy for hours. The location is also ideal. The village of Strangford is just 5 mins drive and Downpatrick is only about 10 mins. Maureen and Greer were fantastic hosts and they literally can't do enough for you. There is so much to do and see within a short drive of the cottages that you're guaranteed not to be bored. We will definitely be returning.
I would really recommend these cottages. We travelled as two families to celebrate my mums 70th birthday and hired Blackthorn and Stable cottages. Accommodation is really roomy and provides a great base for a family in the beautiful Strangford area. Castle ward is on your door step, Ballyhoran beach a few miles away and the Cuan restaurant down the road. My two boys 5 and 7 loved exploring the walks around the cottages and my eldest loved the bird hide in the surrounding meadows. The little loft bedroom in Blackthorn cottage was great for the kids and they were very excited to have their own floor! The cottages are really well equipped and the host provide a lovely welcome pack. Everything is beautifully clean and very environmentally friendly. The views are stunning and after a difficult year we really felt we had ‘got away from it all.’ We can’t wait for our next visit. Thank you :)…
Beautifully restored and very comfy cottages in a really tranquil setting with amazing views and lovely walks. My family and i spent the weekend here and cant wait to return. Maureen and Greer are very friendly and caring hosts. Everything we could have needed was available in the cottage .
