This was our second visit to this hotel. My wife and I have just enjoyed a Christmas break here. We were warmly welcomed and shown to Room 7 - a well appointed suite with double aspect views. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. This may be a small country

Dear Neil, Thank you for taking time to post a lovely review following your stay over Christmas. We firmly believe in close attention to detail as we know our guests are very discerning and value these aspects of their stay. Whether it's the pocket sprung matressess and Egyptian bedding or the homemade biscuits on the tea tray, it all makes a difference. I'm glad you also enjoyed the meals in our Coleridge Restaurant, I try to use as much local produce as possible and a good sprinkling of imagination when writing the menus. We look forward to seeing you again at some point in the future. Best wishes John & Jane

Thank you for taking time to post a review on your stay with us, we are glad you enjoyed your accommodation. However, we are a little confused about your feedback on your meal with us. As you have pointed out, we do provide a SAMPLE menu on our website and this is updated regularly as we do cook according to seasonal availability, so actually proving a meal that we advertise is generally seen as a positive. This current sample menu will be refreshed when we reopen in early Spring. Our menu, however does not have T Bone steak on it, nor has it ever been on our menu. It does however have dishes made from fresh local ingredients using imagination and skill, a skill found in a trained chef. If you would care to look back at previous reviews on both the hotel and restaurant Tripadvisor pages, you will see testament to these skills. Were sorry you didn't enjoy the food you had with us on this occasion.

We're so glad you chose our hotel to spend your Christmas break and even more happy to hear that you got on so well with other guests that contact details were exchanged. We have tried to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere here where guests have the opportunity to socialise with each other if they want or equally they can choose to have a bit more privacy if they prefer. Thank you for your kind feedback and we hope to see you again in the future. Best regards, Jane & John

There is nothing I can fault about our stay at the Dunkery Beacon. John and Jane were in excellent communication in the run up to and during our stay, they were so helpful with any question I had. The location of the hotel was great, no light pollution (we stayed in the premier

It was lovely to have you both to stay for your boyfriend's special birthday weekend and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay so much. Thank you so much for your kind comments about my food and glad also that you enjoyed my photo book on Vietnam! It's a shame the night sky wasn't a bit clearer for you to see the stars this time, but Jane and I hope you will get the opportunity to visit us again. Best wishes, John
