Me and my husband went to stay at the 9 Muses hotel last Summer, and hopefully we can get to go away again this year if Covid permits. Without going in to too much detail, we can safely say that if this is booked you won't be disappointed. The room we stayed in was spacious if not basic, although there was a new development at the top pool which looked far more modern that the village-y rooms near the main hotel lobby. The buildings themselves are beautiful, and the grounds are kept immaculately. The bar area, again, was immaculate, and all the necessary precautions were being taken due to the Covid risk. Tui had advised this would be the case and it was good to see the staff following the rules. This was mirrored in the restaurant, where there was ample seating space between tables. And the food, when we did eat there, was great! All the staff were very amiable and would say hello whenever you passed. The evening entertainment was quiet as we imagined. The main town is called Skala and is only a 15 minute walk away along the local beach, although there is a steep hill just as you reach town, so you might want to take that into account. There are some nice restaurants and a couple of bars but nothing too lively from what we saw. The beach is stony rather than sandy but this didn't bother us too much. With some spotty wi-fi access and beach service available, we found it more than acceptable for what we were after. Previous reviews suggested a slightly older crowd and for the most part this was true, which was ideal as we wanted a quiet holiday, although we did notice a few more kids than might typically be expected? Not being regulars we weren't sure, but there were certainly mutterings at the bar and round the pool that it was a bit more lively that previous times by some of the other people who had been several times before. Initially we thought that maybe with Covid the rules for the adults-only pool was relaxed, although we weren't sure? Hopefully that will be enforced again next Summer so if we return we will see, as the adults-only part is a big draw for those people who obviously want some peace and quiet rather than shouting and splashing all day! All in all it was a great holiday and lovely to get away, and we're both glad we chose 9 Muses to stay at. Like I said at the beginning, we may well return this year if we get the opportunity, and certainly won't regret it if we do.

We hadn`t planned to go to Skala but our holiday to Crete was canceled so the switch to the 9 Muses was fairly last minute and largely based on the good TA reviews. We were really pleased with the choice from the moment we were met off the coach and escorted to our room with the cases following, to when we departed a week later. The complex is relatively small , we stayed in one of the original buildings towards the bottom as opposed to the newer ones at the top . There is a bit of a climb involved getting to the top part. Our room was perfectly adequate, wasn`t noisy even though it overlooked the smaller pool and bar , nice view etc. Personally we didn`t think it would have been worth upgrading to the newer rooms at I think about 50 Euro a day extra but its a personal choice. The swimming pool at the top of the complex was the best one but anyone can use it. The hotel is off the main road running alongside the beach front but was never that busy nor noisy . We actually chose half board which is very unusual but the restaurant was so good we never ate out in the evening at all which says it all. The breakfast was buffet but you had to ask for what you wanted due to Covid restrictions which was fine. The Greek yoghurt with fruit/nuts and honey was out of this world. Suggest asking for the fresh bread which took us a few days to realise was an option. Evening meals were three courses a la carte with a wide variety of choices and excellent value for the extra cost. You can chose a salad main as a starter for two which was a good option. There weren't many negatives. The coffee wasn't great but we struggled to get a decent cup anywhere in Skalla. The coffee at breakfast was the best , not the one you can get as standard , you can order a better /proper one at Euro 4 for a cappuccino . Its the same price at the top pool bar but much smaller and not as good. Paying extra for a safe is always annoying which was operated by a key which you then have to take around with you. We didn't think the happy hour cocktails/long drinks to be particularly good value. All the staff were friendly and hard working. We would return and recommend the 9 Muses to anyone looking for a relaxing break in a relatively small compact friendly hotel.

Like most other reviewers, we loved this small hotel and the staff. They are all fantastic, however for us a special mention has to go to Athena, who apart from being a lovely lady, works non-stop, using any spare time cleaning and ensuring Covid-19 rules were applied. We had a room overlooking the pool area and saw her on the go all the time, even clearing up outside after the damage from the Medicane and then going onto breakfast duties. We actually quite liked the breakfast set-up where you had to get your items from the counter. It meant we ate less and we saw hardly any wastage on other tables, which you normally see when meals are buffet style. Our room in the original part of the hotel was spotlessly clean (there was not a mark on my anti-bacterial wipes, after I did my usual routine on arrival in a hotel of wiping all handles/knobs/surfaces etc.!!). And the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Although the shower cubicle was very small, the shower had the best water pressure ever experienced in all our years visiting Greece. We also liked having a fridge in the room. It came in very handy storing supplies during the bad weather when we were stuck in our room. The sun loungers on the beach with the additional padded cushions were very comfortable. Sadly the ones poolside were less so. The staff were all great during the adverse weather we experienced and despite the circumstances, we felt very safe. A few areas for improvement for us are: - An extendable shaving/make up mirror in the bathroom as all the fixed mirrors are too far away to apply my make up - Ask customers with bare torsos to wear a top when sitting in the arm chairs by the pool bar -Not to charge for the hotel safe But this is definitely a hotel we would happily return to.

We visited 9 muses for 2 weeks in September (during the medicane) and we had a fabulous time and loved everything about the hotel. Rooms... We stayed in the superior rooms at the top of the hotel which were great, spacious and modern with a wet room that had a gorgeous rainfall shower. Housekeeping was restricted due to covid rules but when the cleaner came in on the allocated days the rooms were always left spotless, you could leave any rubbish outside daily and it would be collected. It also had a massive balcony with gorgeous sea, pool and mountain views. The rooms in the older part of the building looked nice too as they are set out in a village style with lots of pretty flowers surrounding them. There were quite of few steps up to get to the superior rooms (this wasn't a problem for us) but the golf buggys were always around the complex and the guys would always oblige and give you a lift if needed. Meals...We stayed on a half board basis which was excellent value, all meals are served in the avra restaurant which is lovely with someoutside seating to enjoy the sea views whilst having your meal (table 4 was our favourite) and the waiters always remembered that as well as our drinks order every night. At breakfast we had to go to the screens and ask for what you wanted (a menu was displayed) which was all of the usual stuff for a cooked breakfast and cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc this worked well and there was never any queuing. Evening meal was served from 6pm until 11pm which was great for us as we are late eaters, you get a large choice of 3 courses from the restaurant menu which we thoroughly enjoyed. We never had a meal that we didn't enjoy in the whole 14 days (the apple pie was the best we have ever tasted). All of the restaurant staff were friendly and always took time out for a chat whilst ordering your food. Staff... I don't think I have been to a place with friendlier staff and they are a credit to the hotel, a special mention to Manos who worked in the pool bar during the evening he made the best pina coladas (we drank alot of these made by him during our holiday) and also Yulie who worked at the adults only pool bar again she was never to busy to have a chat with guests. During the medicane reception rang us to book a table for our evening meal to ensure we were guaranteed a table (the restaurant is open to the public as well) and they also came to our room to advise us to stay in and offer room service if needed (we didn't use this as I was worried about their safety during the terrible storm as well). The hotel is in a great location on the beach road and just a 5 minute walk into the village, we would definately return and reccomend to others to visit. Thank you for an excellent holiday in exceptional times.

I visited the 9muses for 7nights on the last week of august 2020. Covid has restricted travel and after having a trip cancelled to Athens earlier in the year I was keen to take a week off and get some sun! The hotel was lovely , rooms clean and all communal areas. The bar staff waited on us hand and foot and we couldn’t have asked for more. The facilities were great and loved the location being so close to the beach. It was definitely worth the visit! I visited with 2 friends and also had another friend staying there with her son. Restaurant food was good in particular the carbonara!
