Stayed for 2 weeks. Last week of August into September. Beautiful place opposite Skala Beach. Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Well manicured gardens and lovely rooms. Front of the Hotel is the Avra restaurant which is part of the hotel. We were half board and ate all of our meals here. Breakfast is not self service but this was not a problem. Good selection of fruit, cereals and the normal fried option if you preferred. All very clean and served from behind a counter by the waiters. You could have lunch here or at the pool bar. Good selection and reasonably priced. Toasties, omelette, burgers and various salads. Evening meals were some of the best we have ever had in a hotel. Full ala carte menu. With a good selection for all. Pasta, curry, steak (small additional charges apply), salads etc. Full waiter service delivered by a superb friendly team. Be warned portions are very big so chose your starter wisely or you will struggle to finish like we did 😄. The hotel has 3 pools. One down by the pool bar which is more for young family's. The second is set back a bit up the hill which is small and quiet. The 3rd pool is up the top of the hill and is adults only. We spent most of our time up there as it was nice and quiet and had a nice pool bar which did lunch time snacks. Great views across Skala Beach. There was also a small gym up there which some of us used. AC included which was a plus. The hotel goes back up a hill which is a little steep in places. However there are a few hotel buggies driven by the staff available for lifts so dont wory if you struggle with hills. The hotel is a 5 min walk from Skala Town which is small but has some nice bars and a couple of shops. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thankyou to you all for making our stay an enjoyable one. 😉

Second time in Skala and we were very pleasantly surprised at 9 muses. The hotel goes a long way back and as posted by others those with mobility issues will find it a hike but as outlined the staff are Uber friendly and you can get a lift up to the top pool. We stayed for 10 days, b&b in a standard room and found the hotel really lovely. The breakfast was excellent and lots on offer and the service very good. I actually enjoyed the service for breakfast and there was plenty including a cheeky greek breakfast but be warned for the greek coffee on the stove you won’t sleep all day! The rooms are functional but the beds were super. Skala in September is relaxing and end of season but a bit more relaxed and chilled. Those looking for party time will be disappointed. The hotel is very close to the main village but there are plenty of places to eat and get a drink. The staff were fab and they were very clear about everything including the tax and the safe price. In terms of negatives, please consider and treat your guests to a day or two on the beach lounges for free? Please upgrade the gym with a couple of bikes. The two running machines were not working or damaged and would have loved to use the machines as you have invested in creating a decent gym space. Thank you to the staff as they were fab and always had a smile and hello.

Just back from a week at the 9 Muses. First visit to Kefalonia and we fell in love with it. 9 Muses is a fabulous hotel with fabulous staff. We booked the basic room rather than executive suite which was more than adequate for us. Rooms are basic but very comfortable and cleaned every day and clean towels left. The complex is village style and built on a slight incline. The executive suites were at the top of the hill overlooking the adult only pool. It was a bit of a hike for those with mobility issues but Alex and his golf buggy was always available to take you the short trip up the hill. The restaurant overlooks the beach so we had breakfast looking at the sea each morning. Even got up early one morning to watch the sunrise which was beautiful. We were b&b at 9 muses but the food was so delicious we had our evening meal there a couple of times. It is waiter service rather than self service. Skala centre is a short stroll away where you will find lots of lovely restaurants, bars and giftshops. We hired a car for 3 days and saw quite a lot of the island. We both decided Skala was our favorite resort and would definitely return.

Wow, what a super hotel. This was recommended to us by a friend who stayed in June. A few locals told us in their view it's the best place to stay. It's set opposite Skala beach, in a great location about 5 minute walk to the town. We stayed in room 123 which is in the middle section of the traditional hotel and we loved it. It's like a little village, with beautiful flowers and quaint architecture. The newer section looks nice but I am glad we chose to be in the older bit because it has character and is more accessible, particularly in the heat. The main pool bar is busy but not loud. In the evenings we often had a nightcap as there is a good atmosphere. The rooms are immaculately clean and serviced daily. The aircon is powerful (free), there is a safe if you want it (charged), mini fridge, TV, terrace or balcony and powerful shower. Ample storage space to hide your clothes and bags away. The best bit is the enormous bed with the comfiest pillows and mattress ever. If we return to Skala we'll be staying again. Absolutely perfect.

The hotel is set for on a shallow hill, staff very helpful and friendly. 3 nice pools BUT no pool towels provided and we were advised not to use room towels (you can’t hire them either). Our stay was for only 4 nights on B&B basis, so can’t comment on lunch or evening meals. The hotel is suited more for mature couples, there not being much entertainment for younger families. Breakfast was quite efficient but reminiscent of ‘Covid rules’ whereby you asked staff for what you wanted at a counter rather than helping yourself (which sometimes felt as if you were being rushed to choose). The food quality was good though. The rooms were fairly basic, but comfortable with a nice terrace area for us. Fridge in room plus good quiet air conditioning (if on low fan setting). Unfortunately, on check out, we were automatically charged for not returning a safe key within 24 hours of checking-in. We were totally unaware of this and were told that there was a sign in the wardrobe to that effect (which we didn’t notice). Apparently there was nothing that they could do to remove this 10Euro charge…..we said that we’d never been anywhere that automatically had a key in the safe (which, of course we didn’t use!) that charged you for ‘not returning it’ within 24 hours. This is one of the main reasons that we’ve dropped our rating on this place! (seems like a bit of a con to us….) Also, be mindful that most beach sun beds have a charge, including this hotel even if you’re staying there (€15 per set of 2). Skala itself is a small pretty village, with quite a few bars and restaurants within easy reach of the hotel. However it’s very quiet, and we struggled to find many lively places. It may have been the time of year, as most people holidaying seemed older. Weather was great at this time of year, however local staff told us the resort would mostly be closing by end September.

We apologize for the miscommunication. The safe is explained at the opening check in script as well as posted above the safe in the wardrobe. There is no “con”. We apologize that this ruined your holiday with us . We appreciate your review . Again … our apologies for the inconvenience.

This was our second time visiting the nine muses. Perfect location for skala centre and for beaches. The staff at the hotel are amazing, they work tirelessly from morning to night with a smile on their faces. The grounds around the complex are beautiful. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable.. We have booked again for June next year. I would highly recommend these apartments for a relaxing and chilled holiday for any age. There are 3 pools one is for adults only, they are cleaned every day even if they are a little cold. Looking forward to our next visit in June 2024

Second visit to this amazing hotel. Every aspect totally exceeds expectations, service provided by all staff, food, bar special shout out to Manos, cleanliness. Will definitely be back. The only one request I would have is please police the people who think it’s ok to put a towel down on sun beds at 8am & don’t appear until after lunch. Very frustrating when you go to breakfast at 8.30 & are unable to get a sunbed at the bottom pool by 9am !

Stayed at the 9 Muses in August 2023 with my young daughter. I was dreading having to go away in August (we usually try to get away before school finishes but it wasn’t possible this year) but we didn’t have to worry as the hotel didn’t once feel busy or crowded. There were no sunbed wars and with three decent sized pools to choose from I couldn’t believe how peaceful it felt considering it was August (I’m used to large family resorts aimed at entertaining the kids!) Having our young daughter with us meant we usually chose either the main pool or the ‘middle’ pool as we called it which is just below the steps before you get to the adults only pool - this pool seemed to be empty for most of the day, that might be because it’s the only one without a bar but it worked for us. The hotel is beautiful and is laid out like a little village with beautiful views (great if you like taking pictures) The rooms are small but the beds were really comfortable and we had everything we needed. On arrival Maria, who was lovely was there to welcome us and our bags were taken to our room. We were shown to the Avra restaurant which is attached to the hotel overlooking the beach. Staff at the Avra are wonderful, especially with children (thank you Olga) always making an effort to remember their names, their favourite drink and food. The lady behind the bar was lovely too. If you’re not bothered about eating out at different venues each night then it’s WELL worth going half board here, the menu is big with plenty of choice and the portions were huge, I only managed to eat 3 courses 1 night out if 11. Location - the hotel was literally overlooking the beach and the main centre was just a few minutes walk down the road with plenty of restaurants, cocktail bars and souvenir shops. There is also a few supermarkets nearby and you have a fridge in your room. I would 100% rebook the 9 Muses, staff & location were 5* and my daughter cried the day we left.
