We are here for 2 weeks. The bedrooms have all been modernised and are lovely. The large bed is the comfiest we have had and the pillows are great. You should be guaranteed a great nights sleep. The bedroom is spacious with plenty of storage. The bathroom is lovely, great pressure in the shower and again lovely modern tiles. The only thing missing is a full length mirror. Safe deposit boxes and air con are Iincluded foc.
The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to the centre and straight across from the beach where you can hire sunbeds for 8euros for 2 per day. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool.

The staff are lovel, nothing is too much trouble.

Each outside table at the bar area has hand sanitiser and the staff wear masks all of the time.

We would certainly recommend the Makis hotel. We had room 310 with beautiful sea views.

We returned last week from spending two weeks at The Makis. The rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds and pillows. Hotel is across the road from the beach and about a 5 minute walk to the centre of the village. The breakfast is fine with a good selection to choose from. The staff at this hotel are absolutely brilliant and can't do enough for you. I have to mention Lia, Joanna & Marianna in particular [hope I've spelled the names correctly] but all the staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. I must say also that the cleaners do a great job and kept our room spotless with frequent changes of towels and bedding. We have been staying at this hotel on and off for the past 12 years and in that time the cleaning staff has not changed much and I just cannot believe a previous comment by someone who said they made his 16 year old daughter feel uncomfortable. This does not sound like the cleaning staff at The Makis in any way. Also to someone else who complained about paying 8 Euros on the beach for the sunbeds. Firstly, the sunbeds have a thick, padded cushion and are very comfortable and secondly 5 years ago in Alicante two sunbeds and one parasol was 15 Euros!! If you don't want to pay for sunbeds you can always stay around the pool area and just pop across the road if you want to swim in the sea. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to returning. The only thing we missed was not seeing Dennis.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel, previous stay was in 2018 and the refurb that has been done since then is a great success. The staff are very hard working most covering at least 2 areas of the hotel. Breakfast has lots of choice, tea, coffee, fruit juice, hot choices- eggs, bacon etc, and cold - cheese, cold meat, tomatoes, plus cakes and pastries as well as bread for toast and spreads with fresh fruit and greek yoghurt.
The pool is a nice size with a splash pool for kids and plenty of sunbeds, across the roads is Skala beach with sunbeds, tables and umbrella's for €10 for the set per day, food and drink can be ordered from these delivered by the beach girl from the hotel snack bar. Food at lunchtime is good with a nice selection on offer, evening meals not served her but there are so many great restaurants close by.
Rooms cleaned on a daily basis and the hotel has a great friendly vibe to it, we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for 3 weeks next year. Can't wait.

The hotel is in good location just across the road from the beach and a 5 minute walk to town. We stayed in room 406, although we asked for a sea view we didn't get one, in fact we didn't have a view at all. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the room was clean but the bathroom left a bit to be desired, we had one bar of soap and one set of shampoo and shower gel when we got there and it wasn't replaced for the 10 days we were there. The shower cubicle was also on the small side. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room as advertised, we had to ask for them and they were provided, of sorts, a kettle 2 cups,2 sachets of coffee, 2 tea bags and 3 sachets of milk ,again not replenished for the 10 days we were there, the cups were never cleaned we had to do that ourselves. Breakfast was OK, plenty of choice and plenty of it. The bar snacks were really good and good value for money. The girls who served us around the pool, Joanne and Maria deserve a mention for their service and smiles.
I can't find anything major to complain about just a few little things that could be better. On a plus side Covid safety was first class, you had to wear disposable gloves to serve yourself at breakfast and there was hand sanitiser on every table in the breakfast room and also around the pool.
If we're ever in Skala again we'd probably stay here again if we were guaranteed a sea view

Overall I liked my experience at The Makis but there were a few areas that need improvement.
The staff/owners were friendly, polite but often very, very busy - especially the bar staff as it took a while to get a drink. Leia was very welcoming and accommodating and the cleaning man/lady were exceptional as the rooms and common areas were spotless.
The rooms were very clean and modern.

Breakfast was ok (scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon and a selection of yoghurt/ pastries) and although busy, there was always somewhere to sit. The toaster took a very long time and they could do with replacing it.

The bali-style day beds by the pool were great but its the pool area that lets this hotel down. The pool itself is fine but the sunbeds are really flimsy and old both by the pool and on the beach. Also, you have to walk through the bar/restaurant area to have a shower?
The location os perfect though - right opposite the beach and an easy 5 min walk to the main town bars/restaurants.
If the modernised the pool/ restaurant area even by updating the sunbeds /umbrellas then it would be the best place to stay in skala.

Congratulations to Lia and all her team for excellent customer service. Special mention to Irini and the pool man who were most helpful.
The hotel is right by the beach with easy walking distance to seafront restaurants and the village.
While we have stayed in more expensive 5* hotels, my 5 star review is based on excellent value for money.
Our room was clean and fresh and the bed comfortable. There was aircon, a fridge, safe, ample wardrobe space and a small balcony. The shower was on the small side however it was powerful with ample hot water.
Breakfast has a good continental selection with lovely bacon and eggs enjoyed in a nice terrace setting.
The pool has areas of shade which we valued and the loungers on the beach have a deep mattress.
We will return albeit when it isn’t likely to be as hot, and given the value, position, facilities and friendly staff, this will be our first choice.

We stayed here for a week in August 2020. We were a bit apprehensive beforehand, given the situation with COVID-19, but we were so glad we booked the holiday. The hotel location is perfect – over the road from the beach and just a short walk (up a slight hill) to the village centre where many of the bars and restaurants are.

The room was lovely, and the bathroom looked new. The air conditioning and room safe were included in the room price, which is really great value (we’ve often had to pay extra for these elsewhere). We didn’t have a view from the balcony, we were just facing the wall of the building in front, but that wasn’t a problem. The pool area was lovely and clean, a really nice pool and plenty of space and sunbeds. Everything was really clean, with hand sanitisers everywhere. Breakfast was fine – buffet style but served by the staff for hygiene reasons. Yogurt, melon, small croissants, eggs, ham, cheese, bread, cake, jam, honey, orange juice, coffee.

Only a couple of minor areas for improvement – the towels were only changed twice in the week, and the bins were not emptied every day. And the bed side tables didn’t have a drawer, which would have been handy to store things.

The resort was much quieter than usual, especially for August, but most of the bars and restaurants were open and everywhere made us feel really welcome. You need to wear a face mask in the shops, or in taxis or on public transport, but other than that, you don’t have to.

Overall, we had a fantastic time - it was brilliant, at last, to be able to get away for a proper holiday. I’d recommend Makis Hotel, we’d definitely stay here again.

This hotel is definitely worth more than it's current 2 stars. I'm certain once it's reviewed again for it's star rating it will go up. Beautiful decoration throughout. Very clean and tidy with friendly staff.
I went mid may just before season really starts. Hotel was quiet but got busier towards them end of the week. Never a problem getting a sunbed on the days we were by the pool.
Rooms were lovely but there were a few elements of clearly past features such as the old air conditioning unit that was noisy but thankfully we didn't really need it.
The shower was tiny so not sure how a larger build person would manage.
The walls are thin so advise ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
The only other downside for us was having to pay for sunbeds on the beach even if you are resident at the hotel it's €15 so we didn't bother. I would definitely stay at Makis again. It looks like the nicest hotel along that stretch of seafront road and is only a short 5 mins walk to the main bars and restaurants.

This newly refurbished hotel is lovely. Young staff are really attentive and pleasant. The hotel is situated 20m from the beach and about 50m from the start of the town. Breakfast is both continental and English. Beds are King size and really comfortable. The rooms are nicely decorated, the shower and toilet clean and fresh and the air con works with no extra charges (unusual in Greece) All in all, it is the best hotel we have stayed at in Skala and we’ve tried 5 different ones. We will definitely return

We stayed for 1 week at the makis hotel and would like to put to you our findings.the hotel is in a lovely position opposite the beach. The breakfast was upstairs and quiet with covid measures in place , same breakfasts daily but nice something for everyone. Staff there friendly.reception is immaculate. But on arrival and shown to our room we found the room was lovely and modern and updated however the beds looked like they’d been just scrunched together as the creases were unbelievable no ironing at all, the towels were rolled on the bed and when opened were like sandpaper and creased also. The bathroom had one double hook to hang all the towels on so bath towels had to be hung over the shower. There is lots of wardrobe space but only 2 bedside drawers . Their was only 1 glass in the room although there was a fridge. The aircon was so loud we couldn’t use it and we asked for it to be looked at , it never was. The tv was foreign again asked them to show us how to use this sat tv no one ever did, not that we watch tv just the news to keep up. On leaving we told the reception about this and also that the room hadn’t been cleaned for 3 days , the reply was why didn’t we tell them!! We did. We had the end room and when we looked over the side of our entrance we saw why the towels and sheets were so bad they wash there own and hang them up outside then put into the rooms. The back of the hotel is barren and the clothes line for hanging towels and washing went right along the back of the rooms so if it was windy you would lose your belongings. We came back one day at 6 pm to find the staff hosing down all the stairs and passages from the room which was very dangerous with the sign wet floors slippery.slip it was flooded. This was often done when guests were around not early morning.if these things had been addressed then the hotel would be first rate. We don’t want to sound petty as not ones to complain but felt these things are things that shouldn’t happen in a good hotel. Hope it helps .I have shown the pictures of the bed sheets and washing from our hotel room entrance at the side
