It’s been a few years since we last stayed at this friendly family run hotel nestled halfway along the unspoilt beach of Agios Georgios - and nothing has changed!
Our late arrival was met with a bustle of friendly enthusiasm and we were whisked to our room and the restaurant where they had kept something warm and tasty to lift our tired bones.
Sadly the hotel was only about one third full (courtesy of the dreaded virus) and there was scrupulous respect for cleanliness and social distancing throughout the place. All of the staff along with the family were always on hand with a smile and keen-ness to help; whether a couple of cold beers poolside or a booking of a taxi or taverna elsewhere. Also sky sports on hand for those who can excuse themselves from their beloveds for the occasional special game.
The days easily slipped into a chilled routine of eating, sunbathing and chilling. We were half board and the standard of the food remains very high.
What we missed was a little more bustle and the evening fun of the last visit (all in mothballs for obvious reasons).
Everyone was offered a sea view whether you booked it or not and there were plenty of loungers available all day long. A few yards wander puts you on the beach with the clearest water I’ve seen for some time. Again all clean and it was great to see so many locals enjoying it as well.
If you are looking for a spoilt and lazy week or a base from which to explore the island then I would thoroughly recommend.
There were quite a number of returning guests which always is a testament to the value and quality of a hotel.

We looked at the reviews for the Costas Golden Beach Hotel before we went and had very high hopes for a lovely holiday, what we found and experienced however was far above and beyond our dreams.

The place and the people who look after you could simply not be better.

We travelled with our daughter who is coeliac so needs gluten free food, we contacted Costas before we went and he assured us that they could and would cater for her. He did advise that they struggled to get gluten free bread so we may have wanted to pack some which we did. At every meal our daughter was told what she could safely eat and in addition to that the offer was constantly made to provide alternatives or meats without sauces.
What did make it that step up though was Costas coming to find us to show us the cereals he had been to the supermarket to get for her breakfast.

So, the food, superb every time. Not once during the two weeks did we struggle to find things to eat and it was invariably cooked and presented to perfection. The additions of home grown tomatoes and other veg was outstanding and just made it even more special.

The rooms we were given had everything you could expect in them and the ability to close the bug nets and sleep with the windows and doors open was lovely. The sounds from the sea coming over at night, so restful.

Every member of the staff made you feel wanted there, they were friendly, helpful and did everything they could to make your holiday.

So, did we enjoy it? You bet. Did we want to leave? No way and would we go back? Absolutely.

Only thing left to say is thank you to everyone there, you have touched our hearts and we hope to see you again.

This is a family run hotel where the welcome is the friendliest we've ever come across . The room we stayed in had a small balcony and a view of the pool and sea. Everywhere was kept very clean and towels and sheets were changed regularly. We did wake up a few nights with the heat in the room but the mosquito netting door meant you could leave your balcony door open. We were on the ground floor and in hindsight would have preferred a first floor room for more privacy. There was also a lot of towels being put on sunloungers early in the morning, cant blame the Germans it was all English guests ! This didnt bother us as we prefer the beach. The breakfast was ok, not a great deal of choice . The free chilled water unit was an excellent bonus , don't think I've seen one in Greece before. There's plenty of tavernas close by offering great food. Sunbeds and umbrellas were 10 euros a day, we used the sandy part of the beach as it was a bit easier to get in the sea. The bar also offered drinks to your sunbed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay, not somewhere we would return as you are a bit restricted. Buses go to Corfu Town but stop quite early so no chance of going on any trips from there. We did go on the sunset trip which was lovely. If you want a beach holiday break in the friendliest of hotels than you won't do better than here. Their returning guests have been going for years ! Always a good sign !!

My mum and I went for a week here and from the start it was just lovely. We arrived late so everything was shut however the lovely lady was there to welcome us and another couple, she took us straight to our room and offered us a drink before we settled down for the night. The room is simple but lovely and the owners had kindly organised for us to have a downstairs room due to my mum not having great health and finding stairs too hard. The grounds are clean, tidy and very well looked after, one of the owners is very proud of her roses and you can see why they are stunning! Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Though I am terrible with names every single member of staff we met showed true hospitality and wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The food was delicious including home grown salad and olive oil from the families groves. The hotel is literally right by the beach and so you can go out and have a long stroll if you like. There was even Greek dancing on our last night which was wonderful and all the staff were so kind to me as I practised the very little Greek I knew, some staff even taught me a little extra which I really appreciated.
So to end with if I ever saw a short break at this hotel on offer I would grab it like a shot! The staff and owners truly make this place and though my review is almost a year late I would just like to say thank you!

My husband and myself absolutely loved this hotel. We were made to feel so welcome. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. The room was great, very clean with a nice modern bathroom. I mention the bathroom because we've had quite a few holidays on greek islands and this is the first hotel with modern facilities. The room was also fitted with a mosquito net over the French doors, which was also a first and made a massive difference. The food was tasty and plentiful, eaten in a very pleasant dining area with a fantastic view across the bay. The beach was a stones throw across the road, nice and sandy. A day trip to Corfu old town was dead easy too. The bus stop is literally just outside the hotel. Make sure you buy the bus ticket in advance or you may not get on the bus. All in all a great holiday. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed for 10 days at the amazing Costas Golden beach hotel. It is in a beautiful location of Corfu and is a great place to relax.
The hotel is family run and the service is outstanding. We really enjoyed all the food on offer in the extremely clean restaurant.

Our room was lovely and clean with a beautiful sea view. It also has air conditioning which was definitely needed in the evening as Greece was experiencing a heat wave.
The pool is lovely and clean and there was always sunbeds available.

We arrived in the evening and after being taken to our room we still had time to have our evening meal. The breakfast times are also excellent as runs until 10:30am, a lot of other hotels we have stayed at stop breakfast at 9.30am.

The location of Agios Georgios is very beautiful and there are some great walks/hikes you can do. It is over an hour from Corfu old town but we rented a car and went there for a day.

We are not really people who return to the same place again but would highly recommend Costas Golden Beach Hotel. We spoke with many other guests and a lot have been returning to this hotel for over 15 years and can see why as the family make such an effort to make your stay the best it can be.

If you are looking for a restful location, with beautiful views, great food and outstanding service then I would book to stay here. You would not be disappointed. If you are more interested in a lot of beach activities and going to bars and clubs this location wouldn’t be suitable. You will need to rent a car or moped if you want to explore further out.

Two weeks of total relaxation! Having waited so long for this holiday, we appreciated every moment of it. As expected covid measures were in place and adhered to. We felt completely safe.

As the hotel was not full, there were less staff than usual. Every single one of them work exceptionally hard to ensure the guests have an excellent experience. The four ladies who keep the rooms and public areas immaculately clean; the restaurant staff, Michael, Alex, George and Justina who are so efficient but always find time for a friendly chat; Spiros behind the bar and around the pool serving drinks with a friendly smile; Miras keeping things ticking over around the site; the chef who dishes up tasty, much looked forward to meals every evening; and anyone else behind the scenes who help to make the hotel so successful - thank you one and all. And to the family who own and run the hotel - Dimitri, Dina and Spiros (what a star!) through your exceptionally hard work the hotel continues to deliver brilliant holidays to your appreciative guests.

The evening entertainment has been suspended due to restrictions but we enjoyed socialising with other guests who were great company and catching up with the day’s events at the Olympics.

The covid testing and form filling is a bit of a faff but with tips from other guests and support from Spiros, we left for home with all the necessary documents.

Many businesses have suffered greatly during the pandemic and after so many months of closure for the hotel, it must be a very worrying situation. During our stay the number of guests increased and there seem to be more bookings going forward so hopefully things are looking up. We are already looking forward to our holiday at Costas Golden Beach next year.

The hotel has about 40 rooms, amazing views over the beach, bay and hilly green landscape. We had a sea view room that had a sliding mosquito net so you could have the benefit of falling to sleep listening to the sound of the sea washing up the beach without risk of mosquito bites. Beds were extremely comfortable, plenty of storage and nice rainfall shower with room kept immaculate each day.

Hotel has a pool and although the hotel was full there were always sun beds available. The gardens are beautiful and include a vegetable garden providing produce for the restaurant. Also a tennis court and a walk across the road takes you to a sandy beach and very safe swimming, but no lifeguards. Option of staying beside the pool and walking out in costumes for a swim in the sea before showering off in the courtyard and back to the pool which suited us as my wife prefers the pool and I love a long sea swim equals perfect.

Breakfast is included but we also ate lunch and dinner in the hotel as the food was fantastic. My wife is a vegetarian and says it’s the best vegetarian food ever. Drinks are reasonable - 3.5 euros for a large ice cold beer and about 7 euros for cocktails.

The best part of the hotel is the friendliness and warmth of the owners Dina and Spiros and their staff, never felt as welcome anywhere as here. Behind the bar George and Spiros, breakfast and lunchtimes you were looked after by Michael and Alexandra for food and drinks, including poolside if you asked. Nikos and Sophia looked after you during the evenings whilst Toula kept our room spotless. They are all very different personalities from cool Nikos to sassy Sophia to dry Michael and smiley Spiros, but all could not do enough to make our stay perfect.

We could not have had a better time and have already booked for next year - we loved the peace and quiet, great food, chatting to other couples, walking and having just what we wanted, a chilled holiday. It is mostly older couples, many returning year after year, but some might find it quiet if looking for buzz and nightlife and probably not suited for children as no play area or facilities other than the beach.

All in all I could not recommend the hotel more - glad we ordered a taxi to and from the airport and avoided the TUI transfers !

Yes, we have been here before and yes we will go back again (& again).
Why? Because the hotel consistently delivers.
If you are looking for authentic Corfu, a hotel beside the beach, low rise (just 2 floors), sea view rooms as standard, a pleasant pool area, within easy walking of bars and tavernas.
A sandy beach great for families and the sunset side of Corfu.
The only downside for some maybe that the area is remote and any journey into Corfu Town can be bit of a mission (thee is a regular bas service outside the hotel)

The hotel has no pretensions of luxury (3*). It is a base. Bathrooms are small (shower only). Rooms have a/c and mossy screens. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained.

Apart from the location and the property what really makes the difference are the family that own the hotel and the staff. They make every guest feel special. They do all their own home cooking (Hotel is Half Board). Breakfast is basic. Dinner is great and plentiful. Prices in the hotel are also very reasonable.

If you are looking to relax, averse to bigger hotels and appreciate the charm of being looked after by hosts who really care then Costas Golden Beach is for you.

This is our last day of an eleven night stay at CGB Hotel in the centre of the bay of Agios Georgios pagon. The hotel is a hop across to the beach and the sea provides an optional alternative to the pleasant hotel pool. Either side of the hotel there is a choice of Tavernas within a short walking distance but the hotel also offers a delicious evening dinner prepared by Delia. As you may have already read in other reviews the best feel good factor with the hotel is the family and staff that run it. Spiros the manager and his Mum Delia are an ever present source of care, help and friendliness. Their welcoming attitude is never fake or contrived. I have enjoyed one of the best holidays ever in beautiful surroundings. It is easy to understand why people book again. The rooms are cleaned every day and the lunchtime bar snacks on the terrace are fantastic value - try the pitta club sandwich. The nearby village of Afionas up on the headland is definitely worth a visit for an evening dinner to see the sunset and views. Thank-you to all the staff for a wonderful relaxing holiday. I hope to visit again one day.
