Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Hotel even without the casino is still well taken care of, and comfortable to stay at the only issue with the check and takes a long time. Rooms are clean and maintained. Lobby is very nice. Walking distance to convenience stores. There’s a McDonald’s a block away as well.

For some reason, Google shows the hotel closed permanently. The hotel is very much open. In fact we just stayed there last night and it was among the most pleasant one by far . Spacious & clean rooms. Cozy bed & plenty of space around the room, unlike most in Macau. Decent sized bathroom. Very friendly & professional staff. Check in & check out was a breeze. Many food joints nearby. A convenience store in the hotel premises & supermarket diagonally across the street to your left, behind a building. MC Donald's a few minutes away. Lisboa casino is 8-10 minutes walk. There is a bus stop right at the entrance of the hotel. No 3 takes you to the ferry terminal and St Paul's ruins. What more could we ask for. Definitely commend the place and will stay when returning to Macau.

Decent enough, spacious room with two double beds, a desk chair, and window seating. Spacious bathroom with separate tub and shower, with amenities you’d expect L. Not high end products, and combined shampoo/conditioner, but in sustainable packaging. Amazing blackout curtains but the room smelled of stale smoke. Canton8 restaurant is fairly local only, not much for breakfast. My biggest complaint was lack of help. No concierge to be found and although there’s a shuttle bus, there was no one to ask where it went or how to book it. Although the hotel has a car drive through area, we got left off on the street, and had to stand on the street to hail our own taxi. Not a great location, nothing much around, but a lovely pool and small gym. Weird tho, the pool was open from 9am-6pm. I’d think it should be open 6am to 9pm. They only set the room for two people, despite there being three of us on the booking, but a late check out was granted, which is nice.

Very nice hotel for tourists not looking to overpay on luxury rooms. Great size rooms. Very clean and convenient location to local restaurants and shops. Indoor pool nice as well..only negatives includes no shuttle bus and shorter pool opening hours

Stiff bed, unpleasant staff, no bathrobe, no iron, no sewing kit but cockroaches in the room .... Had a "garden view"... not really any garden to look at but so be it. there were some small items from the previous occupant such as sim card and other random trash, bed are stiff, one LED was obviously broken, lack of customisability of lighting, more or less nothing in the room, just an empty room in macau. Previously visited three times between 2009 and 2019, now the fourth and last time. Manager were unpleasant & rude. they also wanted to charge a lot just to print one page of paper.

hotel service is bad. it was our 2nd time checking in this month to Rio and both stay had its bad experience. I'll start with the worst one. I made a mistake on the booking's last name and they told us that they will not accept it which is understandable. BUT HERE IS WHERE IT GETS WORST. I asked for an assistance to keep my luggages while I ammend my booking in the travel agency BUT THE RECEPTION DECLINED. We pleaded for atleast that assistance as it was a hassle bringing those luggages but it was declined not until I asked for the agents help to atleast coordinate with the hotel to accept the luggage while we wait. (A big thanks to those agent.) and they had helped us. I was quite offended and a bit embarrases as there are also guests around that time. They could have atleast help with storing my luggages as we are also a guest of the hotel and only made a mistake on the last name but rhey made us feel unwelcomed and declined of any service. The other stay was when we are in the pool and forgot our towel and we have a 1 year old baby with us, we tried to borrow the bath towel as it was veey cold in the corridor and my son is wet but again ir was declined due to the rules and I.pleaded.that I would return it ASAP once ws returned to.the room but was declined.and she was rude.so.we.decided to go back to the room with my baby wet and cold. She could have been a bit flexible and.met us borrowed the towel as I promised to return.it.back.but she chose.not to. it was awful! It was a bad experience for us.

upon check in you need to deposit 1000 mop then on check out date they will get 400 mop for cleaning just because they will tell you that the room is dirty! In out side we put all the trash in the garbage bag we collect all the trash in the toilet ang in the areas that have. i booked a suite room for my 2 kids to be more space to move around.then when the house keeping manager check it he says that its dirty! its not our thing to do the sweaping the floor and vaccum really the room we almost clean it.what they want to expect we will sweap the floor? its not out thing anymore! we know how hard to clean a room so we helped to clean it.but then the house keeping staff insisted that i need to pay 400 mop for it.so i have nothing to do then also the front office staff is not accomodating they dont believe us they just let them to charge me for that and so i pay 400 mop just to go out and get my remaining money in the hotel. me and my husband is so unhappy and we will never recommend this hotel to our friends and families here in macau. we live here for long time and we can say that this is the worst ever hotel and worst employees ever. this is a plan that is the room is not so clean we charge and less in the deposit! i believe this hotel dont change the linens every day and dont clean that much and they dont have enough staff to clean the room properly so they need to do this. all the staff is not good even if you will ask another towel the staff who gave us is ungappy to serve us.. all the staff their is not happy in what they are doing. very bad experience! we will surely not coming back!

Manager Hang very disrespectful,, he said that he don’t care about the guests and it came right out from his mouth. There are lots of rooms having dinner gathering but they are not being notify and only us being charged . That is so unfair! Because we only have dinner and others will leave after 11 but still they go to our room without any warnings and told us that they will charge us. How about the other rooms who was also having dinner gatherings? They did not even bother to check?????? We have talked to other guests in other rooms leaving the hotel and said that they have also dinner gathering in 8th floor but they are not being notified and they are not charged! We left the hotel right in an instant after they notify us to be charged. We have a very bad experience in this hotel and will tell all our friends not to go to this Rio Hotel and will also tell our other co-workers about our very bad experience in your hotel! We will make sure this experience will be passed to all the people we know! And we will make sure that none of us will ever come back to this hotel ever!

supervisor Leo is very rude. he don't listen, he is just insisting what he want and think is right even if it's not. The room attendant is also rude and don't follow instructions, we told her to pick up the rubbish in the room but instead she just gave us a rubbish bag and leave. Tho I recommend Ms. Yan of Front Desk she listens and empathize guest's feelings (at least she makes our day at ease)
