Words are not enough to explain how wonderful this place it. An absolute dream come true. This trip was 3 years in the making since our first, second, and third attempts were all thwarted by Covid restrictions. But, Nick was so understanding, helpful and informative throughout the long process of getting us to the camp. Having waited so long I was truly afraid that I would have built up this experience in my mind so much that nothing would be able to come close to what I had imagined. I was wrong, it exceeded it in every way. Staring with our driver, Ali, who got us safely to the desert and back. He was an excellent companion for some very long driving days, making them seem not very long at all with his knowledge, conversation and music. Not to mention the non-stop stunning landscapes along the way. Once we made it to camp we were greeted by Bachir who is just a joy to be around. Friendly, funny, and happy to share his desert home with every new face. He and the rest of the staff will make you feel so welcome, they're all so kind and helpful. The evening sundowners were my favorite. Climbing the dunes for sunset where you can have a glass of wine, take in the surrounding beauty, and watch Bachir effortlessly sandboard down the tallest dunes. Sunrises were equally as stunning and worth getting up early and climbing the dunes for. I wish we could have stayed longer (we were there for 2 nights.) I was so sad to leave. I would recommend this camp in a heartbeat and will to anyone who will listen and is up for an adventure! Truly loved every single second of the experience.

The camp is located in the midst of the Erg Chigaga dunes. The dunes are very impressive and the camp is relatively isolated. We went for 2 nights but if you arrive relatively early one day can suffice for the experience. Don t miss the quads ride at extra cost.

We had an amazing experience traveling with Authentic Morocco this past month. Here’s a breakdown: Planning: Nick was able to accommodate everything on our to-do list. He was extremely patient, responded to emails quickly, and answered all of our questions - even when we had to cancel and move both travel days and mode of transportation around a few times. Main attractions: Marrakech, Kasbah Ellouez in Tamdaght, Kasbah of Telouet, Local cave hike, Kasbah Azul in Agdz, Ait Ben Haddou, Atlas Film Studio in Ouarzazate, desert fossils, Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp, sunrise camel tour, star gazing, climbed dunes, sand-boarding, oasis trip, campfire show. Food/Accommodations: The food -- be it breakfast lunch or dinner, snacks or drink -- served at all of the locations was phenomenal. We ate to the point of discomfort which is a compliment. All of the hotel/kasbahs were clean, had comfortable beds, and best of all, wonderful hosts/hostesses. Driver: Ali is a skilled and safe driver, and was also attentive to the fact that we were on a ‘vacation’ and frequently asked if we wanted to stop for photos or stop at any shops along the way. He guided us through some of our stops (Kasbah of Telouet and Ait Ben Haddou), and was knowledgeable, spoke great English, and seemingly knew every villager along the way. Please read detail page for full review of our itinerary etc.

After a lifetime of lockdowns and cancelled trips - this experience was the only thing my friend and I could co-ordinate from opposite parts of the world. And it was something that will forever mark this time of my life! Salh and Bashir and the bunch of guys who looked after us, from the time we left Marrakech to our reaching the middle of nowhere, stops made, soundtracks shared stories swapped - we were fully ingrained in these guys world - well at least we thought we were and they allowed us to think so! This is hospitality at its finest - forget the Waldorf, this is true luxury. More than waking up to silence that is beautifully deafening, more than the respect and care we were treated with, more than the fact we were in a site that movies were made - this is a holistic, loving, cultural experience you cannot describe, photos cannot do justice and you must do with a likeminded soul. We will be back. Love you guys and thank you!

Bobo, Bachir and the rest of the camp staff were incredible hosts. I wish we could have spent many more days settling into the relaxing rhythms of the desert (we only had 2 days), but every minute here was magical! Don’t come expecting to ‘do’ a lot - just relax and enjoy the slow pace of Saharan life!

My boyfriend and I went to the Erg Chigaga luxury camp for a 4-day trip in March 2022. First, we drove 4.5 hours to the Riad Caravane (which was the most beautiful riad we stayed in during our trip in Morocco) and saw the Ait Ben Haddou (location of filming for Game of Thrones and Gladiator, among others), the next day, we drove another 4.5 hours to the city of Mhamid, where we had lunch right before driving into the desert. Driving into the desert was a whole experience in itself - all of a sudden, the road stops and you start driving on sand roads and sand hills - a mix of fun and terrifying. Once at the camp, we were greeted by Bachir and his brothers, offered tea and nuts and we met some of the other people staying at the camp. We then saw our tent - which looked exactly like the pictures. One note - while it is a luxury camp, it is still a desert camp. So the toilet is like a luxe porter potty and there is a bucket shower - but we saw it as part of the experience! From the point we got to the camp, all our needs were taken care of, and Bachir made sure to help us get the most of the experience. The first day, we made it to the top of the highest dune, to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen in our life. Bachir came to find us and gave us a bottle of wine and offered to do a little photoshoot, and then left us to let us enjoy a romantic sunset together. In the evening, we chatted and had dinner with the other people in the camp. I feel like meeting other people at the camp was one of the most fun experiences, although we were the youngest (adults) we met there! (We are 29F and 28M for reference - but we went in the off-season). We wanted to stargaze, so Bachir led us to the best location to watch it from the camp, a suspended mattress, and got us a blanket so we wouldn't get too cold. I saw two shooting stars that night (although my boyfriend managed to miss them lol). The next day, Bachir tried to get us to wake up early (e.g. 9 am) because it was going to get windy that day. We should have gotten up earlier - as later that day it got super windy, like a mini-sandstorm - but we still managed to do the camel trip and visit the nomad family nearby. When it got super windy, we just napped, read books, and relaxed in the communal 'bar' tent, as it was just the two of us left at the camp until the evening. Later that day, more people arrived, and the wind subsided in the afternoon so we went outside to take some amazing windy pictures. We had some amazing conversations with the people we met there - I think most people who visit are quite open minded. I definitely had some meaningful conversations which just hit different when you're in the middle of the desert, I think. The second night, everyone gathered around the campfire (suddenly we were with 12 people), and the people from the camp sang songs. I was fully prepared to jump in with a song from my home country, but whether anyone else wanted to sing was only asked once, so I felt too shy to jump at the opportunity. But maybe next time! The next day, with Bachir's encouragement, we woke up early enough to see the sunrise (5:30 am - yes really) and to try some sand-boarding from the highest dune - which was terrifying. We again took some beautiful pictures, and because of all the wind, the footsteps from the previous day were all blown away again, so it looked completely pristine. Then, we met up with our driver again and drove all the way back to Marrakech, but not without picking up a nice carpet on the way (we thought we didn't have space to take it back, but luckily, we managed - and don't forget to haggle!). All in all, this was a unique and memorable experience. As with our other experiences in Morocco, the interactions are what make it extra special. Bachir really made our stay by being so welcoming and caring about what we wanted to do and making sure we had the best time. Thank you all!

From the moment Hossein our driver met us we knew we were in good hands. Hossein, a Berber explained the history of the regions as he drove us to the camp, and was enthusiastic and helpful, showing us the best places to stop and attending to our every need. Arriving at the camp we saw what a beautiful place it was, and such a special environment. The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. The views were stunning, even better from the top of a camel. The sunset drinks the highlight at the end of each day. The food was great, local wine each night with dinner was good, and the beds really comfy.

This is a unique and special experience. The desert is stunningly beautiful, the location of the camp secluded from all else, the tent accommodation very comfortable ( best bed I’ve slept in for years!), food delicious and service 5 star. I fell in love with the undulating expanse of sand and the camels, the silence and the immense open skies. I’m already planning my next trip! If you want a break with a difference, and an opportunity to switch off and forget time, this is for you.

Our stay at the camp was nothing short of fantastic. Watching the sun rise and set over the dunes while drinking coffee and sipping wine was very memorable. The camel rides were fun. The visit to the nomad family for some sand baked bread was interesting. The tents were wonderful. The food was great. The staff was wonderful. The isolation of the camp was incredible. We enjoyed meeting our fellow camp guests as well. A big thank you to Nick for helping arrange our trip to the camp and for his very helpful suggestions on travel to Morocco. His speedy responses to emails were greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend a 2 night stop en route at Kasbah Azul.

We stayed at the luxury nomadic camp for three nights. Complete isolation. Food and drink available at all times supplied by Mohammid our Berber Host. Excellent. The journey , memories and adventures to Erg Chigaga are of course yours to be made !!!!! This is one journey that will stay with you forever We rented a land cruiser 4 x 4 in Marrakesh and drove ourselves , picking up a guide in M’HAMID to show us the way into the desert. The scenery is unbelievable A great big thank you to Nick ( the owner ) and his team. Sipping a cold Bombay sapphire and tonic with lime and ice , on top of a sand dune , in the Sahara Desert reading Frank Herberts Dune. What’s not to like. Thanks once again Nick Robert and Cindy
