I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

The staff are so friendly, welcoming and go above and beyond, always with a smile on their faces.

The rooms are really spacious, clean and have everything you need including a great shower and comfy bed. It's set out with cabins dotted around the grounds so it's very private and quiet (birds tweeting and animal noises aside!)

I would also strongly recommend the hotel restaurant as the food is delicious!

The hotel grounds are so well maintained and absolutely stunning with so many beautiful plants and a lovely pool.

The owner is very passionate about animals and the environment so the hotel is very eco friendly and has an abundance of wildlife such as chipmunks, monitor lizards, monkeys, peacocks, butterflies, etc.. Waking up to birds tweeting in the trees is magical!

Great place to stay for birding. Very comfortable accommodation and excellent food. Nearby "tank" (lake) great for birds and the on sight vegetable garden also attracted a great variety of easily photographed birds. Stayed here on our way from Mannar to Kitulgala and provided a great change in climate and therefore bird species observed.

This is a lovely boutique eco-hotel. It's tucked away from the main road across a rope bridge (don't worry, they have porters to carry your cases across), within easy reach of the main tourist sites in the area, including several natural parks.
Once on the grounds you will feel in the centre of nature and can really relax and unwind. The pool is very relaxing (once you've recovered from the shock of the cold water), and it's a nice place to sit and order a pot of tea.
Our rooms were good, with comfortable beds and good ac, plus mosquito nets. There are a few mosquitoes around but we didn't find them too troublesome. The torches in the room were a nice touch and made it easier to find your way across to the restaurant after dark.
Food was good, we chose Sri Lankan style and we were all happy. We chose medium spiced, which was pleasantly mild. If you like your food spicier just let them know. We did also get lunch there one afternoon, sandwiches as they were quick and easy to prepare as we were going out for the afternoon. If you want a bigger lunch you might be better arranging that with them in advance.
A highlight of this hotel is the night-time safari walk, which is a paid optional extra with a local naturalist leading the way with red light torches. We were lucky enough to see a rare flying squirrel - so beautiful! The night walk was quite exciting in itself, although it is of course hard to spot the nightlife! Definitely wear good walking shoes not flipflops as it's slippy in places.

Great location, really pleasant and clean rooms, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay are the staff. We traveled with two kids one being a toddler and the staff were very accommodative and went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one.
The Hurulu eco park safari and bird walk organized by the hotel was an excellent experience. The hotels Naturalist Pramod was very knowledgeable and professional. The information he provided added more value to our experience. We were fortunate enough to spot many elephants because of our experienced safari jeep drivers.
The food here is delicious and fresh! And the best part is that most of the produce are sourced from the hotels organic garden. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sri Lankan rice and curry menu. Special mention, Shan the hotel manager was very attentive, friendly and efficient.

The catamaran ride on the lake is a must, its a slow and relaxing ride that will you a chance to admire the scenery and observe the wildlife.

Tip- The best time to visit the lake is in the early morning or the late afternoon, when the birds are more active.

The amazing bridge brings you into the beautiful terrain almost mini liquorice. The manager (Amiz) receives you with a delicious juice (fresh) and you immediately feel welcome. We had rented two cottages with breakfast. Every day a wide choice of breakfast and everything is possible even if it is not on the menu. The chef cooks really fantastic, delicious fresh peanut sauce. They have their own vegetable garden, so how fresh do you want the vegetables? What is also very special is that here is the path of the elephants directly, here the elephants come from the water onto the land. You are not allowed to walk here in the dark but Keshan likes to walk with you and talks passionately about nature.

Everything about The Other Corner was absolutely great! We are interested in wildlife and it is in a lovely location just near one of the tanks (lakes). The staff were wonderful, food was fabulous and the resident naturalist guide showed us many special things on a night walk and night drive including Sri Lanka Giant Flying Squirrel, Grey Slender Loris and Fishing Cat. Thank you so much to the team.

Very nice and friendly staff. Great entrance over the wooden bridge, delicious welcome drink at reception. Great rooms, lovingly furnished. As a family we had a house with two entrances, two rooms and two bathrooms with great big showers with a view of the sky.
Eating in the open room with a choice of menus for breakfast and dinner - everything was delicious and plentiful, served in a friendly and courteous manner. Great natural pool from which you can watch monkeys and enjoy the sunset in the tree house. Great!

We enjoyed this nice accommodation and the nice staff. We stayed in one of the tree houses, a large quadruple room. Whereas in other hotels with family rooms you often get a standard double room with two extra beds crammed in (and so can't turn your ass and your suitcases can't fit either, this room is really spacious with two toilets of its own!
The food is delicious and chef Amir really pampers you! And they also have a nature specialist who will gladly take you for a night walk or other excursion around the grounds and effortlessly point out all the animals. So we were able to spot flying squirrels, owls and eagles! Highly recommended for a special stay in Habarana.

The Other Corner was a terrific experience and I recommend it to everyone visiting Sri Lanka. Close to Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and the Minneriya elephants, it is a green haven full of wildlife such as monkeys, giant squirrels, leafbirds, paradise flycatchers, orioles, etc. The cabins are very clean and well maintained and there is a pool beneath the canopy to provide shade in the afternoon. But the real treat is the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly, from the waiters to the cleaners. What is more, there are very knowledgeable naturalists, like Vikum, who can take you on different kind of tours and answer all your questions. Just ask for them! We did the night walk around the premises and found a civet. Finally, there is the flamboyant Chef Amiz and his kitchen staff, who not only cook a delicious meal, but also gave our two sons aged 10 and 13 the evening of their life when he welcomed them in his kitchen to help him prepare our dinner!

The other corner was a quiet and tranquil escape. The rooms were lovely and big and the grounds were beautiful.

The manager and chef Amiz was the best part! He paid special attention to our every need and he organized beautiful Sunset dinners and a spectacular night Safari where we saw the clearest starry sky and an elephant! Chef Amiz's food was very tasty and his attention made us feel very special!

Hello Elawes. Two days is enough for a stay here, since you've already covered Sigiriya earlier. A safari to Minneriya or Kaudulla could be done (I did Kaudulla since Minneriya was flooded during my visit). The property has an in-house naturalist who can take you for bird watching and other nature activities. If you can squeeze in time, Polonaruva coulf be covered in the two days too. Half board plan is recommended. I stayed for 2 nights (2 days) in November 2016.

Price - Should be around USD120-150 per night via Hotel website or travel sites including Breakfast. Day attractions & Safari - can be arranged through the hotel for a price. You can check with them on arrival or call and arrange in advance. Nature walks are free for residents. Please arrange with Mr. Dhilip De Alwis who is the resident Naturalist. He is on FB and you can find him easily. A very knowledgeable guy with loads of experience. It is customary to give a reasonable tip. All hotels in Sri Lanka will accommodate the drivers free of charge. But their meals may be charged to your room sometimes. You can also check this on arrival.

Greetings!! Thanks for your email. Sorry for the late reply as for some unknown reason I have missed your email. The far end rooms from the main road towards the lake are 'Twin Chalets' and 'Main Lodge'. These would be the best. But it is not possible to get disturbed from road noises for any of our chalets. We have just obtained license for Wines and Beer and will be serving from early Nov. If not our staff will help you to bring your choice of Alcohol from the local wine stores, so you can enjoy same with your meals. Hope this answer your email. Please drop an email. Regarding your reservation or to book TOC on availability. Look forward to hear from you soon. Warm regards, rahula
