We used to stay at Holiday Inn Garforth regularly from 2012 until the hotel implemented a no pets policy so we had to find alternative accommodation in the area. Recently we noticed that the hotel had started to take pets again so we booked a room on the IHG website.

There was a good welcome at the hotel where I was recognised as a IHG Spire Ambassador member. We were impressed with the refurbishment of the hotel that had taken place since our last visit. In the past we stayed in a mixture of standard and executive rooms. The most recent stay was in an executive room but unfortunately it was standard room with a few extras and not at the same level which we used to enjoy in the past when executive rooms were more luxuriously appointed.

On check out we had a shock because we had booked a pet friendly rate which was quite a high price even though an executive room was included in the rate. We were told that we had to pay an additional £25 on top of the already high price, paying separately for an exec room and pet charge would have been considerably cheaper. The pet charge was waived by the manager which we appreciated and it was mentioned that the website price was misleading.

I am giving 4 stars for the nice welcome we received as well as the comfortable surroundings. Really disappointed however with the Executive Room offering which is a huge downgrade from what the hotel previously offered. We do like Holiday Inn Garforth as it is a great hotel in a lovely setting close to Garforth town centre.

Good morning Paul , Thank you for taking the time to give Holiday Inn- Leeds Garforth feedback . I would like to aplogise for the disappointment with regards to the standard of our Executive rooms. All our Executive rooms are to format required for the Holiday Inn. However I will pass this feedback on and if we have the pleasure in welcoming you again please let me know in order that I can make your stay more enjoyable. Stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 5. Hotel was sufficient for what we needed. Clean, with basic necessities. It’s not luxurious, but very good value for money. Small pool and gym on site. Pool has to be booked in advance and with a maximum of 4 people at any one time (Great for Mum who can avoid getting wet).

One criticism would be the quality of the food in the restaurant. Very basic and poor quality!

Typical Holiday Inn with bar area, fitness centre, indoor pool and large car park.

Top level IHG status did not result in any perks, no room upgrade and despite bar being open and serving I was informed that due COVID no drink vouchers were being offered - surely now more than ever it is important to retain regular customers?

Room and bathroom appeared to be recently decorated and were clean and fresh, however our stay was Aug 31st and the in the middle of the night the heating pipe automatically came on making the room unbearably hot - it was sunny all day, but a clear night so I guess the outside temperature dropped below their threshold which took no account of the actual in room temperatures, there was no way to turn off the heating, and traffic noise was too great with window open (it would only open 3 inches anyway).

Low price was attractive, car required if you're staying here, not much within walking distance

A one night's stay in a double room cost us £206.92. That included an average-sized glass of wine at the bar and a £10 extra charge for my puppy. The room itself was £159 EXcluding breakfast (extra £10 each). Expensive, in my opinion, most especially given that the quality of our room was no better than, say, a Travelodge or Premier Inn. Very poor value for money. I've stayed at the Thorpe Park Hotel nearby previously and their rooms are a lot bigger, with an additional seating area PLUS a welcome pack for dogs every time I've stayed there. The rooms at Thorpe Park also include a mini-bar fridge and high quality toiletries AND the cost for one night is less than at the Holiday Inn. Our stay at the Holiday Inn would have been "ok" if the price was less than what we paid. Over the top pricing for what we were given. On a more positive note, the staff were friendly and professional and our room was clean.

Dear MalLondon, I appreciate you for sharing your review about your recent stay. I am very sorry that you did not experience an exemplary hotel stay because of the level of service you have received. This is not what we want any of our guests to experience. I have sent you a private message to reaffirm my apologies. In the midst of the inconvenience, I am glad to know that the service of our staff and the cleanliness of our room were still appreciated. I very much hope that you will grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

I booked a room just for one night and checked in after 7pm. This was my first time using a Holiday Inn as I generally use other brands.

I ‘upgraded’ to an executive room and upon walking into the room was greeted by the most unpleasant smell. The worst smell I have ever smelt in a hotel room by a country mile. It was as if the smell of smoking was trying to covered up but considering it was now the evening time clearly evidences that their housekeeping is not up to scratch.

Upon making my representations to the front desk I was advised the duty manager would visit the room. He didn’t but rang; not quite sure how he could smell the room over the phone.

Service recovery when correct can have a huge positive impact upon a guest. Clearly this hotel does not practice service recovery and I was advised that I could downgrade to a twin room and not be refunded the difference. Apart from that I was advised there was nothing they would do. Not could do but would do.

I wrote to the General Manager in the morning and to date have not received a response.

I appreciate that things go wrong but there was no will from the staff to try and put things right. In a competitive industry I shall take my business to a company who looks after guests when things go wrong.

We stopped here on the way back from Scotland - booked early on the IHG website. Easy to find just off M1. A very helpful receptionist ( Chantel) helped us get 2 rooms close together even with a very full hotel and we arrived late.

Not able to swim due to Covid limits. Breakfast was a good price ( £10) and the staff were doing a great job although clearly short staffed. A shame some guests made a fuss when we felt everyone tried really hard to provide a good breakfast - which they did. Would stay again if in the area

Stayed here after spending the day in Knaresborough. Hotel is easy to find and has lots of parking. Reception and bar/restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Masks need to be worn in public areas as is the situation at the moment. Meals can be ordered via an app in the rooms and either delivered or collected from the restaurant. Breakfast is help yourself to cereal but hot cooked food is done to order from the counter. Excellent WiFi connection. This hotel has limited rooms with baths, so if a bath is required, they need to be asked for. Would stay here again if in the area

On Boxing Night (26/12/23), Myself & Hubby stayed over at the Holiday Inn Garforth for Work Purposes.

We got an incredible deal through booking.com. £55 per person for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast.

On arrival, We were allocated Room 23 on the Ground Floor, which was a non smoking room. The room was lovely, a very comfy bed with lovely pillows( 3 each), tea tray with tea/coffee etc. Very nice wardrobe to hang everything up plus an iron/ironing board. The bathroom had both a bath & shower & plenty of toiletries for shower etc plus plenty of towels. The room was round the back of hotel so we got a very quiet night's sleep

Once we'd showered & changed, we went into the bar/dining area for our included evening meal. The staff member behind the bar informed that our evening meal was actually 3 courses. Anything on the menus marked with the letter S, was included, anything without letter S, we could have at an additional cost of £5.

Having gone through the menu. We both decided on rarebit on toast for starters & I opted for the crispy chicken burger for mains. The hubby decided to pay an extra £5 for the 10oz Rump steak (fantastic deal as it was priced at £24.95 on the menu). For desserts we chose panecotta bread & butter pudding & pear & ginger crumble.

All courses were beautiful, freshly cooked & excellent quality ingredients. The hubby said his steak was the best he'd ever had!!!.

The following morning, our breakfast was also included & again, it didn't disappoint. So much choice from, fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, hans/cheese, pastries, toast & fab selection of hot breakfast items.

The staff were lovely throughout our staff, friendly & helpful.

We've never had such a great deal at any hotel for £55 per person but it was well worth it. 10/10 from us.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days in room 178, located at the back of the hotel, a long way from reception. Very quiet. The room and bathroom were small but the bed was comfy, the tv quite large and good, the shower ok, and we were provided with large spotlessly clean bath towels. There was no air con and the windows only opened so far ( ours was broken and thankfully meant we could open it further). No fan in the room. House keepers were helpful. Reception staff were extremely helpful . We booked a session in the pool which was lovely. … ( we had to go down there to book as no one answered the room phone..) the staff on there were helpful too. We felt safe everywhere re COVID. The hotel was very clean. Parking was free.
We ate in the restaurant one night… a fiasco. We scanned the qr code on the table to order and when it didn’t arrive we approached the bar to see why. The lady behind there was the most unhelpful member of staff I have encountered. Abrupt, sour and snappy. Our meal had gone to our room instead and been left outside there which the lady insisted was our fault as we’d scanned the qr code in our room previously. My husband had to go the long route to fetch it back. We didn’t have the extra eggs we had ordered . Another pleasant member of staff said we could have our drinks free because of the inconvenience but when we went to the bar to pay the “abrupt lady” insisted we pay for eggs we didn’t have and a service charge for the meal going to the room. It took ages to sort out, resulting in other customers retiring from the bar unserved! The next day we ordered two teas to take out from the same sour staff member and had to go back for sugar which she insisted we hadn’t asked for.
I have written hundreds of reviews and not once have I criticised a member of staff but this lady was so unhelpful and moody I felt I must mention it as she is letting a good team down.
Other than that our stay was pleasant and we would recommend the hotel.

We booked this stay just 20 minutes before checking at 11PM after a long journey which involved major delays, someone running into our car and getting hopelessly lost after numerous overnight junction closure/diversions on the A1M!

My family and I were greeted with a very warm welcome from the night manager and his assistant. They ensured the sofa bed in the room was made up and everything was in order.
We were also offered a drink from the bar which was very well received after such a long journey!

Breakfast in the morning was served with a smile, and was good value.

Without exception, every member of staff we encountered was friendly and it really seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing.

All in all, an excellent stay and an excellent team. Would definitely return if in the area again.
