We were booked in here for two nights by Portugal Nature Trails and we were delighted with the choice. Utterly different from any other place we've ever stayed. This old convent at the head of a valley in a very steep gorge had more levels than we could count and navigating the stairs was a reminder of how people used...

We rolled up, surprising the solitary staff-member when we buzzed her at the gates at the end of a very warm, very long trek along the coast and farms from Cascais. Being mid-Feb and having not booked in, she didn't make us feel as if we were impinging on her solitude. Being off-season we got room 5, the only one...

It is a very well restored convento in a valley opened to the see. Wonderfull view. The convento is very well decorated, with originality.it was winter we enjoyed very good fire places but the chauffage un the bedroom was noisy and not very potent. Good breakfast. Impressing views, beautifull, from our balcony. The care taker wasn'nt very nice but efficient...

I stayed here for 2 nights on a recent walking trip through the area. Being the offseason and mid-week, I was the only person staying here, but the owners were extremely welcoming and friendly. To call this a unique place to stay is a bit of an understatement. It's narrow corridors and steep staircases can be a bit hard to...

An extraordinary place. Isolated - we walked up from Cascais; small, well thought through, friendly. Good points - a great building, we loved the lounge and spent most evenings here. Weak points - lots of ups and downs. This was part of the charm, but would be a problem if you were not perfectly mobile. Wifi only works in the...

The positive: beautiful place rebuilt in an authentic style, wonderfully quiet with a great ocean view from our suite. We found the staff friendly and helpful and it has good potential to be a fantastic holiday location for those wanting to be "away from it all". We found the place nice and clean; in good weather conditions the place looks...

I love this small convent hidden in the valley. It's a well succeded work of design and restoration of a property. Trully amazing in details, brilliant in terms of space conception. The level of comfort, moderate as it should be, reflects a deep respect by the history of the place. Magical, I should say!

We share all of the accolades previously given to this wonderful hotel: well-kept, charming, friendly staff, etc. One caution though, if you don't have a car and it is not the high season, you'll have to walk a good bit to get dinner. The Convento wasn't serving food (dinner) during our 3 day stay, which was a disappointment. One evening...

We were taking an independent walking tour from Cascais to Sintra arranged by ATG Oxford. Therefore, our reservations, including this guesthouse, were made by ATG. Convento de Sao Saturnino is our favorite lodging of any place we have stayed anywhere! The staff, the meals, the artwork, the pool and its surroundings, the uniqueness of this property were all wonderful. We...

Booked a suite with seaview for three nights for our honeymoon. Wonderful remote location. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were well kept. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and look out of the huge window in the bedroom and watch the play of the morning light over the valley to the sea....
