It is really a beautiful hotel. With very nice personel, nice rooms, good food, and a nice pool with enough beds around the pool. On a 1,8 km distance from the centre of Kos so hire a bike for 4 euro's a day and you are in the centre in 10 minutes driving. The only pitty is that people smoke in the outside breakfast area also during breakfast time and near the pool. And off course this will be done everywhere, also when you go to the shore or take a lunch or diner in the city, but it's just a pitty that because of the fact that this is a resonable bigger hotel this is happening a lot. You see people who are not smoking having their breakfast inside and people who are smoking having breakfast outside in the better area. It would be an improvement of the hotel if they would not alowe people to smoke during breakfast time in the breakfast area. Ps you only have breakfast in this location lunch and diner you have at the Appolon Hotel (1 minute walk away trough the garden) if you have all inclusive

So happy we booked this hotel! It suited our needs absolutely perfectly for a chilled romantic stay. staff 10/10 - always SO friendly and helpful, we booked on and bed and breakfast option and it was perfect for us with lots of options and a fresh omlette/pancake station daily amongst so many other options. Pool- was lovely with the sun all day, lots of beds, minimal bed “reserving” with towels. We had lunch by the pool a few days and it was yummy we recommend the pork gyros. Location- Lots of restaurants local to the hotel and a bit further into Kos town which is a 30 min walk or 4 mins in taxi. We got restaurant recommendations from a receptionist and the ones we visited were amazing and less touristy than others we visited. Room- spacious, clean, was cleaned daily to a good standard no issues at all Beach- we walked to the Omilos Beach (7ish min walk) Bar many days of our trip, free sun beds and great food and drink selections. Stoney beach so take your beach shoes and you’ll be fine (the sea is a steep slope to deep water so perhaps not so child friendly if you’re with young children!) Will 100% stay again when we next visit Kos thank you apollon Windmill for a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Last minute my partner and I booked a 'cheap week away' in Kos and decided on this hotel mainly because of its location and the fact that its Adults Only. The hotel itself is very clean with nice rooms, a great pool and good location. Our time spent there was absolutely trouble free although I would note the following: The breakfast is budget level at best. Most things out a tin or packet. There are no wash facilities if you have a late flight after checkout. This I found very unusual for a four star hotel! There is only one receptionist at all times - even 'peak' hours. The 'all inclusive' drinks menu is very restrictive, for example... coffee is ok but you have to pay for latte or cappuccino ! There is no one to help you with your bags on arrival or departure. Not easy for older or disabled guests. Would I return? Yes probably but there are much better hotels nearby, albeit at a cost.

My mum and I stayed at the windmill for a week in sept 2023- we arrived around 10pm Greek time, very friendly reception staff, no food available at hotel at that time but managed to find a taverna a short walk from hotel to get something to eat. Room was spacious and comfortable, nice modern shower room and plenty storage. We were bed and breakfast- nice breakfast choices and very friendly staff member on the egg station. Pool area very clean, pool bar staff wasn’t very friendly when asked if I could refill my water bottle - would do it this once only as they sold water. Ended up buying my own 6 large bottles from local shop for 2 euro. We spent most days at Alibaba beach bar - free sunbed if you buy anything - no pressure from the guys there and we were walking down for coffee anyway. Was given free bike hire voucher- not aware it was only for use the day after we arrived- wasn’t suitable after a long journey and was then unable to use the following day- just to be aware for anyone issues a bike voucher from the hotel it is for day after. Taxis very difficult to get to town- often don’t show up, we were able to get bus form Main Street to kos town instead- about 20 minutes walk but mum in late 60s and too much some nights. All in a lovely hotel, just a bit much of a walk for older travellers.

One person was very grumpy! she only laughed at the customers who had to pay for drinks!, unfortunately we heard her arguing with her colleague! and gesturing with her hands! all Dutch people are talking about this!! I had already passed on all this to Apostroles, that this was not normal and you could feel the tension when Desprina worked! the only female behind the bar ... 'Katarina' smiled at everyone and was friendly to everyone! really a hard worker! the other person was just on her phone. When Desprina was working we went to the beach because her face looked like thunder! maybe it's better to put it in Apollon! I and my friends felt nothing when she worked. she looked very angry when we made jokes with Katarina! Katarina is really great!!!💞 This message was also written on behalf of the holiday friends!

Couldn’t fault the rooms, clean, modern and spacious! On our first day we asked for some pool towels and later we were made aware that if we wanted to change these for clean ones it was an extra €5 charge each towel! Also made aware that there was an extra charge for using the safe per day €2 which i’ve never come across before! Wifi in the room is also €5 per day per device. Free wifi is available in the communal areas which isn’t very strong at all! I thought this was absolutely ridiculous with it being a 4 star modern hotel. At breakfast free omelettes eggs and pancakes were available but always had to ask staff to set the table for us each day. Great pool which we made use of. The first few days when we arrived no one seemed to reserve sunbeds which was perfect but towards the end of our stay people began to lay towels over many beds which was annoying given the no sunbeds reserving rule and rating of the hotel. Overall, I wouldn’t recommended this hotel! Based on the service and extra charges.

Responded 16 Sept 2023
Dear Ellie Mae B, Thank you for taking the time to share your review, even though it is not very accurate. Indeed there are services which come on extra charge, however not at the prices you mention. These services and the according charges are known to all our affiliate Agencies & Tour Operators, so it would be best if you had seeked information beofre booking. Regarding your comment on sunbed availability, we would like to inform future guests that we follow a non-reserve policy, which is enforced by our Housekeeping Dpt as other reviews have already mentioned. Thank you once more for your time, Best regards, Leonidas Platellas Hotel Manager

We changed hotel to the Apollon windmill hotel last minute due to the hotel we had booked having terrible reviews. I am SO glad we did. We had the most wonderful time and were so sad to leave. We booked through easyjet and the only option for us to book was bed and breakfast. When we arrived we realised we could upgrade to all inclusive for an additional €40pp where you have breakfast in the hotel and lunch and dinner in the sister hotel. We didn’t chose This option as the drinks were reasonably priced and there was lots of restaurants near by. The bar staff were absolutely incredible and have offer a personalised service. On the day you check in, you get given a voucher for a free bike rental which is such an easy way to get around and into kos town. The room was modern and spacious, and we were lucky to have a pool view. Walls are slightly thin as we could hear someone next door snoring. The best thing about the hotel was no one reserved sunbeds, everything was so relaxed that you never had to worry about waking up early to ensure you get a bed for the day.
