Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our second stay here , the rooms are beautiful and service is second to none from all staff (housekeeping, bar staff , management and chefs) we got engaged while staying and Meghan and the team treated us like family and celebrated with us and made us feel so special. We have already booked up for our Xmas stay there and can’t wait

What a gem we discovered, wonderfully decorated with big free standing bath, big room tastefully decorated and quiet despite the fact it’s in a busy pub. The restaurant was wonderful with fabulous food and excellent staff, what I found the most unique was the staff who were like a family, they extended such great professional service beyond most 5 star hotels, we stayed 3 days and will be returning. Highly reccomend

Ate dinner here on Friday night. All a bit ramshackle - chairs uncomfortable, glasses were dirty, tables sticky and a strange waft of cabbage in the air. Waitress while polite, was not particularly knowledgeable about the menu. But get this, the food was really quite good - very tasty and well presented. Service good too. With a little bit of love and attention this place could really be quite good.

The rooms are superb and enjoyably decorated with multiple antiques which offer a unique charm to too often bland rooms in many places (the owners wife is an antique dealer). Beds wonderfully firm and comfortable. We had Sunday roast lunch and the lamb was the best lamb I’d had on the whole trip, beautifully medium rare with a wonderful mint sauce, not the overdone dry stuff covered in gravy to cover it up one often gets at pub Sunday carveries. The enclosed outdoor sitting area in back offered a large pleasant space to relax and for smokers an outdoor retreat. The staff was delightful! Clearly the pub has become the vibrant center of Crewkerne pub life and has a special energy and quality to its uniquely renovated life.

Today we came for lunch . The menu choice very limited so we opted for fish and chips. They were cooked perfect . We then ordered a couple of desserts dark chocolate Torte and rum and raisin ice cream. Waited ages then we were brought our desserts. Which was chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. When I called the waitress to complain I was told they had run out. If I had been told we would have chose differently. When paying we were still charged full price . This stage the chef and I assume a lady which was the manager were sorting our bill. They asked if everything was OK so I said well not really. We weren't impressed being given cake. With this he tried to argue that it was torte. When I explained that I am a qualified chef he then tried to say this was Italian. At this stage the manageress walked off laughing. He then said it was almond. At this point I had to walk away. Take responsibility and please don't treat your customers as if we are stupid. If you mess up then just own up. If this had almonds in then you should have informed us due to allergens. Nut allergies can kill. Your chefs attitude absolutely stinks.

The actual hotel is lovely, the room was nice and the food was good. BUT the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night so all x8 guests evacuated and there was not a single member of staff on site. Despite calling the number on the alarm system we stood outside for almost an hour with zero attendance before another guest went in and reset the alarm himself (there was no sign of an actual fire) so we could go back to bed. When we left at 0715 later that morning there was still no employees to be seen. Pretty poor customer service and I dread to think what might have happened in a real fire.

First impression when I walked in was that it was a pub. However the owners will remember me as being the guy who was overnighting with my family and two dogs. The welcome was warm but on being taken to our rooms, we were amazed by the joyful quirkiness of this hotel. I don't want to give any secrets away but the attention to detail is great and the beds are Savoy/Claridges compatible for comfort. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really, really good, meeting some really friendly local people (because we had two big dogs with us). Breakfast was great and everyone we met greeted us with genuine friendliness and kindness. Thanks....we will be back!

This was my third visit to The Crooked Swan this year and the first time I have stayed away over Christmas and boy did this not disappoint. Meghan and the staff worked tirelessly and sacrificed their time away from family. As always the room was top notch and the five course Christmas dinner was lights out fantastic. For anyone fancying a break from the chores of Christmas then book up at The Crooked Swan for next year. I will definitely be staying again sometime in the Spring,

Really welcoming, gorgeous room, delicious breakfast. Perfect location in the centre of Crewkerne, feels like a cross between a bouji boutique hotel and really cool local pub. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend.
