I enjoyed my stay at Uroa, rooms are cleaned and linen changed daily.Meals are delicious if you love stews, same tuna fish for the catch of the day for 7 days I was there, if you are tired, don’t wake up for breakfast, there’s only eggs that are edible in all that buffet. Bring iron or pay dollars that are charged per item,a skirt few dollars, a shirt or a pant, charged per item. An hour’s drive from all the activities that was 5 dollars per trip on a daily basis.I loved my morning walks by the ocean, very safe. Poverty of the ordinary citizens disheartening.Their poverty ruins the fun, their desperation to get dollars leads to unrealistic expectations from tourists.Bring all the swimwear you have,Do feed the turtles and visit the Kendwa Rocks Beach, I’m still in awe!

Great resort ❤️ I was there in December 2023 with my lovely 5 yo. Staff was super kind, we used doctor which was amazing checking on me every day after I was bitten by some insects. Everybody extremely helpful, great animations, delicious food, perfect swimming pools for adults and children, brilliant acces to beach. Amazing trips made by beach Kowalski great prices and great organization. Cannot recommend enough, best holidays ever❤️❤️❤️

Firstly, I wanna let everyone know that I enjoyed the stay in this resort. The room was nice, air conditioned and always well cleaned. I loved the food in this resort - everything was seasoned very well, even though at the end of the stay it already felt somehow repetitive. The best were the fresh fruit juices, which must have been squeezed from the fresh fruit - lime juice, carrot juice, watermelon juice (it tastes completely different than in Europe, lol) and some other like baobab juice, all delicious. No wonder the all inclusive drinks were delicious too. If I'm to compare the drinks to Egypt, where they used bought juice of a poor quality, drinks here were much, much better. I also enjoyed the possibility of swimming in the sea after sunset (as it wasn't allowed in every resort I visited) and the beach was guarded by the resort staff. It was necessary, as even though the beach was right in front of the resort, it was accessible to the public, so there were locals offering you stuff, especially trips, with which were some problems before according to our travel agent. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful, but sometimes they seemed a bit lazy. The travel agent herself told us that the working tempo here is slower than the one in Europe and if we really want something, we should push the staff a bit if they're too slow. And of course, there was an evening program every day, but the entertainers expected to be tipped afterwards, so if you don't wanna spend unnecessary money, don't stay for too long in the evening. There was also a free wifi in the resort which worked okay, but only at the reception and the restaurant, but there were plenty of seats everywhere, so you could hang out comfortably. The access to drinking water was also okay, as all inclusive guests got a big bottle, which the staff could refill at the bar at all times except at night when the bar was closed. (The guests without all inclusive could buy this water bottle for 10 $, I think). The cleaning staff also put a small water bottle for every guest into the room every day after cleaning it, so it was impossible to run out. However, there were also several drawbacks in the resort - the worst from my point of view was the insect that was pretty much impossible to avoid, even at the room. Even though the resort was well kept and clean, we had to deal with several cockroaches in our room, one giant centipede, some weird leech looking bugs, a couple of big ants and even a small lizard in our bathroom. You should definitely close your suitcases at all times to avoid bringing this stuff back home. The doors and walls were also anything but soundproof, so we had to listen to a couple next door f***ing as if they were right next to us, which was definitely unpleasant. There were also very common short power outages in the resort, which was slightly annoying as the light could be turned off when you were in the shower, for example. Once, even the water stopped running for a couple of minutes. However, this might be a problem of the whole island and not the resort itself, as the infrastructure there is nothing compared to the one we are used to in Europe or in the US. One night, our AC stopped working, but the staff repaired it very quickly after we reported it. However, there was a number with the temperature visible on the AC when it was on and it emmited a dim light during night, so don't expect to sleep in the pitch black darkness (I sincerely don't recommend sleeping without the AC on, it would become unbearably hot). Some people might also complain about the hygiene here - as I said, the rooms were clean and well kept, as much as the rest of the resort (the whole Zanzibar was actually cleaner than Egypt, for example, especially the toilets, which I very appreciated), but once again, don't expect European hygienic standards. The hot meals at the restaurant were covered, but the spoons and forks the guests used for putting the meals on their plate were lying on a plate in front of the food containers, so the flies could sit on them easily. The fresh fruit and pastry were also not covered and the flies had an easy access to them as well. I had stomach problems for one day, but we went on a lot of trips, so I can't tell whether it was because of something I ate at the resort or elsewhere. There were also crows flying around the restaurant (it was in the open space with a thatched roof rather than in a building, which was a standard on the whole Zanzibar) and there were also cats in the resort, which looked healthy and clean, but they used the beach as their litter box. (However, if you love cats as I do, be sure to bring some cat snacks with you, they'd be very grateful. We even had our own cat fanclub in front our room, waiting for us to give them something). The beach itself was rather small for such a big resort with only a couple of sun beds, even though we traveled a lot and didn't really mind. However, if you expect to stay in the resort for most of your stay, this could be quite troublesome. The sea definitely wasn't as clean as the Red Sea, there were seaweeds everywhere and also a lot of sea urchins once you got further into the sea, so definitely don't forget your water shoes. If you wanna see some fish, you have to pay for a snorkeling trip outside of the resort. And the last thing, the staff was sometimes quite unhelpful, even though it was an exception mostly. However, there was one annoying receptionist who loved to basically tell us to f ourselves without apologizing when we wanted something - if we were going for a trip, there was a possibility of getting a lunch or a breakfast box prepared, but only till 8 pm of the previous day, then he'd tell you it was already too late (even though we found out later that there wasn't a problem getting a paper box at the reception at any time and putting some food from breakfast there to take it away on the trip). One time, when we wanted our towels after the dinner to go on a beach, he'd tell us he wouldn't give us any because it's already a laundry time, even though we were entitled for 1 towel per day (weird anyways, but whatever). We didn't need the towel before, as we went for a trip that day and we were basically told to go away, without a single apology. And once when we wanted our all inclusive drinks, we were also told to f away, as the staff was apparently too busy to serve us anything. But fortunately, these were mostly exceptions, even though it was enough to ruin the mood for a while. Summarized, I enjoyed the stay here, but if I was to stay mostly at the resort, I'd probably get bored rather quickly. The pools looked okay, but I never went in, so I cannot really judge. There is, however, a large variety of interesting trips to go to - snorcheling on the sea together with a visit of a Kwale sandbanks and Kwale island (we saw a baobab tree and an amazing starfish), a trip to Stonetown to see some sights and a Freddie Mercury museum (together with going on a Prison Island to a giant tortoise sanctuary), a trip to Jozani forest with monkeys (together with visiting a Zito spice farm, which was awesome) or a trip to a natural aquarium where you could swim with sea turtles (but we didn't go on this one, as we were told this is a tourist attraction only and the turtles suffer by the large amount of tourists, so much that they can become aggressive and bite someone). And of course, you can buy a Safari trip to the mainland Tanzania which was awesome, but expect it to be rather expensive. Also, for this one, an insect repellent is highly advised). I had a great time here, the trips were awesome, the locals were nice and if you wanted to do a good deed, bring some candy for the local children - they can be seen playing on the beach or just outside the resort and I'm sure they'd be very happy indeed. Zanzibar is an amazing place definitely worth visiting if you don't mind small discomfort in comparison of what we're used to in Europe. (If you wanted to know more, follow my Tribble on the road on IG and don't hesitate to dm me).

We stayed here for 11 nights in November. The food was OK – nothing to write home about but adequate - corporate canteen quality – vegetable soup was on the menu far too often and they really needed to open another egg station at breakfast, queue was horrendous sometimes (not sure why they can’t use the grill). There was no logic to the breakfast display – as an example the pancakes were nowhere near the honey! It was nice to have complimentary juice/water at all meals. You are only allowed one pool towel a day (first resort I have ever stayed at with this rule), so you have to take your soggy, wet towel to lunch with you so you can use it in the afternoon – I think they have issues with their laundry, one day there were no towels in our room, and when I contacted reception they said there had been a problem with the laundry and housekeeping would bring us one – which they didn’t! Eventually we collected two pool towels from reception, who were very reluctant to give them to us – were we not supposed to shower for 24 hours? Housekeeping in general was not great, the teaspoon I used to stir my coffee wasn’t washed on any day (I rinsed it out in the afternoon when I realized it hadn’t been washed), no idea what the complimentary toiletries in the shower were because the bottles had no labels (they had been filled so often the writing was obscure), and the housekeeper looking after our room had no idea what they were either (I asked her), so not sure what she would have filled them up with. This is a beach resort so it would be nice if the bathroom, or patio, had some sort of washing line to dry swimming costumes etc. The all-inclusive cocktail menu was not great, very limited selection – however it was nice to have wine by the glass, from a bottle, not a box. There is no table or poolside service, all drinks must be collected from the bar. I knew there was going to be no Wi-Fi in the room, I believe it’s something the resort should look at, if you are trying to keep in contact with your office, or check in for flights, or download books on your kindle etc. at odd hours, it’s not always convenient to go to a public area. TV reception was good (I only tuned into the news, so no idea what other channels are available), but the TV is placed in such a way that you cannot see it from the bed (see picture). It needs to be fixed higher on the wall. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Horrible place to stay. We ended up staying for 3 hours and checked out. The beach was ugly, food was Italian and dry, service was horrible (we had to get the servers attention to order a meal in their ala cart restaurant, the pools looked like they haven’t been painted in years. The music they blast from the pool is horrible and they’re no getting away from it.

Room not quite a 4 star but everything else YEA Staff: very nice, sometimes there is a language barrier but if you take the time to explain and help them understand they are extremely helpful and kind - don’t agree with any negative reviews on staff I think those people just didn’t bother to try and communicate better if they ever felt staff were not so good. Room: it’s big but very basic, small TV but I don’t watch TV on holiday so I don’t care. It’s clean and well kept. It’s not a 4 star room in my opinion but it was nice enough. Bed wasn’t the most comfy but I had a decent sleep most nights The only thing that really annoyed me was there is no WIFI in the rooms. So everyone sits around pool, reception, lounge area for WIFI. It some ways it’s a good thing as it makes you not be in the phone all the time, but I needed to use my phone so it was a nuisance. Luckily the staff took me to the local shop and got me a SIM card with data for me to use throughout my time. I paid £35 for a sim and data that lasted me more than 2 weeks Food: I don’t do buffet food so I don’t do all inclusive so I can’t tell you what it tastes like but I did have a look and it wasn’t my cup of tea. The restaurant is nice enough. My first meal wasn’t great but I spoke to a chef and the waitresses and made my requests more clear and the dishes that followed were much better. The chef clearly listens so that’s good Entertainment: I go out of the hotel everyday so i don’t have much experience but I think that they had a show or musical entertainment every night from 8ish till 11pm. It seemed nice. Dance shows, karaoke, massei tribe show and other stuff. Location: for me it was perfect, it’s not busy as there’s not much hotels nearby so you don’t see hundreds of tourists BUT all excursions are like 45 min - 1 hour away. I don’t mind that but I know some people will mind. The beach is nice when the tide is good. It’s a very beautiful beach Local people are super nice and helpful. It’s VERY SAFE The restaurant has an outdoor seating area so you can sit and eat basically on the beach which is very beautiful - this is 4 star for sure! Hotel also has a VERY GOOD salon for massages and hair. It’s good price and the staff are really nice and good at what they do. If you book excursions with the hotel, the guy Hasim gives good prices compared to some companies. You go either others from the hotel and it’s very organised - the hotel mainly uses flash tours and flash tours were really good in my opinion. I did some excursions privately with locals as I prefer to be alone for some of them so I get a better experience. The beach is not crowded (I went sep 2023) so it’s so nice to relax and enjoy without getting the whole annoying overcrowded hotel feel. Overall I would say it’s not quite a 4 star… but I think it could be with a few touches up in the room and around the pool. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

We stayed at the uroa bay resort Zanzibar as family of 15 guests as part of an organized group trip over the last 8 days - the hotel outside is very nice and clean, however the rooms are definitely need renovations and to be more updates to the common days. The room were whit furniture that has already seen better days… The TV is nothing more than a 12" computer screen and even then the picture is with snow and most of the stations don't work. The air conditioner turns off after an hour and so … and in order to turn it on you have to reactivate the room key… The fan worked on the first day and then stopped working... and despite repeated requests to the staff, the issue was not addressed until the last day - this issue is also common in other places in the hotel, for example the game room And the cleaning is not on top of every points… during our stay we had to ask time after Time to have 4 clean towels … We felt that we were simply on a quest to hunt for clean towels in a hot and humid area… At the same time, the food was very good, the accessibility and availability of the chef for requests was above expectations and for that the place gets credit points… Although the place is rated as 4 stars hotel, unfortunately it is probably closer to 3 stars hotel, and I would be happy to see the place make a drastic change and really reach 4 stars because it has potential

The resort it lovely. However we got extremely poor service all round, from management to waitrons. Meals were reprocessed and really sad☹️ Uroa really need to learn more about tourism, train their staff properly and need to know that their clients/visitors come first. They cannot afford to compromise on client service.

Spent 6 nights at the Uroa Beach Resort Hotel. If you are looking for a peaceful, calm holiday don't go here. The music especially in the evening is far too loud and there is no getting away from it unless you are in the furthest situated room. The rooms are spacious, the shower is good, staff are friendly and the place has great potential just with regard to its location. Beach front with views of the Indian Ocean. We did  book a room with Seaview but had to wait 2 nights before this happened. The place has a swimming pool, if it could maintain a peaceful relaxing vibe it would be made. Wouldn't recommend.

The hotel cannot be rated a 4 star. It has not seen maintenance for quite a while. It first has to break and then they move you to another room or come to fix it. The bedding is old, the mosquito nets are old. The bathroom towels are long past their sell by date. Take note that they charge you 3.2% extra when you pay by credit card. For SA that is a lot not budgeted for, on top of the newly introduced infrastructure tax (effective 1 July) of $5 per person per day. Beaches are beautiful, albeit littered with trash, which the hotel doesn't seem to care to clean up. Staff are super friendly and lots of fun! Especiallynour barmen Paul, Ethan and William. The food was mediocre. Owned by Italians, so lots of pastas and breads, which I guess a lot of people would like. Loved the fish though. If you choose full board, don't hold your breath on the cocktails. Cheap liquor, plastic glasses, boxed wine, nothing to write home about. There are better hotels on the same strip. I know, because we met the people who stayed there.
