Horrible place to stay. We ended up staying for 3 hours and checked out. The beach was ugly, food was Italian and dry, service was horrible (we had to get the servers attention to order a meal in their ala cart restaurant, the pools looked like they haven’t been painted in years. The music they blast from the pool is horrible and they’re no getting away from it.

Room not quite a 4 star but everything else YEA Staff: very nice, sometimes there is a language barrier but if you take the time to explain and help them understand they are extremely helpful and kind - don’t agree with any negative reviews on staff I think those people just didn’t bother to try and communicate better if they ever felt staff were not so good. Room: it’s big but very basic, small TV but I don’t watch TV on holiday so I don’t care. It’s clean and well kept. It’s not a 4 star room in my opinion but it was nice enough. Bed wasn’t the most comfy but I had a decent sleep most nights The only thing that really annoyed me was there is no WIFI in the rooms. So everyone sits around pool, reception, lounge area for WIFI. It some ways it’s a good thing as it makes you not be in the phone all the time, but I needed to use my phone so it was a nuisance. Luckily the staff took me to the local shop and got me a SIM card with data for me to use throughout my time. I paid £35 for a sim and data that lasted me more than 2 weeks Food: I don’t do buffet food so I don’t do all inclusive so I can’t tell you what it tastes like but I did have a look and it wasn’t my cup of tea. The restaurant is nice enough. My first meal wasn’t great but I spoke to a chef and the waitresses and made my requests more clear and the dishes that followed were much better. The chef clearly listens so that’s good Entertainment: I go out of the hotel everyday so i don’t have much experience but I think that they had a show or musical entertainment every night from 8ish till 11pm. It seemed nice. Dance shows, karaoke, massei tribe show and other stuff. Location: for me it was perfect, it’s not busy as there’s not much hotels nearby so you don’t see hundreds of tourists BUT all excursions are like 45 min - 1 hour away. I don’t mind that but I know some people will mind. The beach is nice when the tide is good. It’s a very beautiful beach Local people are super nice and helpful. It’s VERY SAFE The restaurant has an outdoor seating area so you can sit and eat basically on the beach which is very beautiful - this is 4 star for sure! Hotel also has a VERY GOOD salon for massages and hair. It’s good price and the staff are really nice and good at what they do. If you book excursions with the hotel, the guy Hasim gives good prices compared to some companies. You go either others from the hotel and it’s very organised - the hotel mainly uses flash tours and flash tours were really good in my opinion. I did some excursions privately with locals as I prefer to be alone for some of them so I get a better experience. The beach is not crowded (I went sep 2023) so it’s so nice to relax and enjoy without getting the whole annoying overcrowded hotel feel. Overall I would say it’s not quite a 4 star… but I think it could be with a few touches up in the room and around the pool. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

We stayed at the uroa bay resort Zanzibar as family of 15 guests as part of an organized group trip over the last 8 days - the hotel outside is very nice and clean, however the rooms are definitely need renovations and to be more updates to the common days. The room were whit furniture that has already seen better days… The TV is nothing more than a 12" computer screen and even then the picture is with snow and most of the stations don't work. The air conditioner turns off after an hour and so … and in order to turn it on you have to reactivate the room key… The fan worked on the first day and then stopped working... and despite repeated requests to the staff, the issue was not addressed until the last day - this issue is also common in other places in the hotel, for example the game room And the cleaning is not on top of every points… during our stay we had to ask time after Time to have 4 clean towels … We felt that we were simply on a quest to hunt for clean towels in a hot and humid area… At the same time, the food was very good, the accessibility and availability of the chef for requests was above expectations and for that the place gets credit points… Although the place is rated as 4 stars hotel, unfortunately it is probably closer to 3 stars hotel, and I would be happy to see the place make a drastic change and really reach 4 stars because it has potential

The resort it lovely. However we got extremely poor service all round, from management to waitrons. Meals were reprocessed and really sad☹️ Uroa really need to learn more about tourism, train their staff properly and need to know that their clients/visitors come first. They cannot afford to compromise on client service.

Spent 6 nights at the Uroa Beach Resort Hotel. If you are looking for a peaceful, calm holiday don't go here. The music especially in the evening is far too loud and there is no getting away from it unless you are in the furthest situated room. The rooms are spacious, the shower is good, staff are friendly and the place has great potential just with regard to its location. Beach front with views of the Indian Ocean. We did  book a room with Seaview but had to wait 2 nights before this happened. The place has a swimming pool, if it could maintain a peaceful relaxing vibe it would be made. Wouldn't recommend.

The hotel cannot be rated a 4 star. It has not seen maintenance for quite a while. It first has to break and then they move you to another room or come to fix it. The bedding is old, the mosquito nets are old. The bathroom towels are long past their sell by date. Take note that they charge you 3.2% extra when you pay by credit card. For SA that is a lot not budgeted for, on top of the newly introduced infrastructure tax (effective 1 July) of $5 per person per day. Beaches are beautiful, albeit littered with trash, which the hotel doesn't seem to care to clean up. Staff are super friendly and lots of fun! Especiallynour barmen Paul, Ethan and William. The food was mediocre. Owned by Italians, so lots of pastas and breads, which I guess a lot of people would like. Loved the fish though. If you choose full board, don't hold your breath on the cocktails. Cheap liquor, plastic glasses, boxed wine, nothing to write home about. There are better hotels on the same strip. I know, because we met the people who stayed there.

Zanzibar is a wonderful holiday, but Uroa Bay Resort needs to catch a wake-up to making the food a better experience. The food - breakfast, lunch and supper was inedible; the chef definitely needs to be replaced. Rooms were fair and beds comfortable. Pools and spa lovely. The cats in this resort need to be managed with sterilisation as there were so many meowing at every corner. If you keen on Zanzibar and beautiful warm water and climate then this is the plac to go; just NOT Uroa!

4⭐️ from 5. place with low tide for several hours a day, in my opinion it doesn't matter. nice place, comfortable beds, easy going to ocean, however staff in hotel is unbelievable - Lazy and arrogant. Even if we were on all inclusive staff required payment by alcohol/ non alcoholic drinks( around 9pm).

A too-controlled hotel Hotel and rooms Arrived at 6 a.m. I was faced to choose between waiting until check-in time(2 p.m) or to pay.So I paid 40 usd for early check-in (I didn’t accept more 10 usd for breakfast).I have to mention that I visited more than 150 hotels all over the world and faced a few times with a similar situation, but if there were rooms available(and generally were),I got them without any payment. It seems that I was lucky and the rest of hotels were much more guest-friendly than the Uroa Bay.I couldn’t accept the first room offered because of the out order air con.My advice:don’t believe promises like”accept and the technical personel will repair it in a half our”,because it could take even 2-3 days. The second room was OK except the safe.Reseting of it takes 2 days. The room was spacious, bathroom functional, nice terrace, cleaned every day(tip recommended). Restaurants and bars Meals not too various but every day found something tasty to eat.It was very confusing for me that due to the guest unfriendly management the personel is forced to ask you all the day (even 10-20 times per day)”room number?”and the answer is noted on a sheet of paper,in their phone,in a computer or laptop. Not easy to believe, but every glass of beer, soft drink, alcoholic drink, cocktail, wine, etc together with the number of how many times served you breakfast, lunch or dinner was noted. And,despite of the all inclusive bracelet given by the reception at check in,you are asked at all of these your room number! I consider all these the result of an erroneous,too-controlled and extremely guest unfriendly management. Beach With fine sand, not too often cleaned, seaweed everywhere.Lukewarm water.Give a specially attention to the medusas whose touch is very painful.A lot of local merchants on the beach and all of them want to sell you something. Excursions Those offered by agency or hotel are both expensive and enough fixed like hours and route. If you want real correct priced and at times that suits you excursions I can highly recommend to contact Teacher Almas. You can ask for him both in the hotel(everybody knows him) or you can contact him before your vacation on WhatsApp ( write him on +255777018052 ) saying what exactly you want. You can create your personal route and to see only what’s interesting for you.His cars are comfortable air conditioned and starting time could be a.m or p.m as you want. Conclusions Generally acceptable hotel. Pity for the wrong management that drags it down. After the vacation a group of cca.50 persons coming with the same plane(3 different agencies) met each other on the airport. On arrival all of us arrived early in the morning to different hotels, but only me had to pay 40 usd for early check-in,last day 20 usd for lunch and 1 usd/day tourist-fee.The other 49 persons were lucky to stay in a guest-friendly hotel….

Please do yourself a favour and do not book this hotel. Really loud music, no sea view even when paid extra for this Flies on food, poor standard of accommodation, raw waste going onto beach and sea right on hotel stretch of beach. The list and pictures we took showing this was in no way 4 star accommodation. They refused to give us a single penny in refund although we only spent one night there. Dial a flight who we booked with were equally poor in responding to our complaints. Only paltry refund received by them 5 months later. Avoid both if you want to have a good holiday

Response from Andrea Ballardini, General Manager at Uroa Bay Beach Resort
Responded 24 Jan 2023
Hi, I wanted to thank you for leaving your review and choosing us initially. At the beach bar the music is usually slightly higher because most of our customers like the local music, when relaxing on the beach or in the pool.On the food normally customers like the variety of the menu, that tries to be as varied as possible to satisfy all types of customers from different countries. We are sorry if something was not to your liking and would have been useful for us, to know what was not to your liking. For the beach, I do not know at what time of year you came, because in some months of the year, the current of the sea, brings the mangrove forest leaves to our beach, but most of the year, the beach is spotless. Unfortunately, we cannot help you with any problems with your tour operator.
