Spotlessly clean, good size rooms, and well laid out. All the basics were outstanding (beds, shower, toilet), and the owners and operators were extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient in the running of this hotel. If your package does not include air conditioning, it's a reasonable 7 Euro's a day extra - but it works wonderfully and is relatively quiet. Maria and her mother laid on a lavish breakfast (much more than we expecting). Hot (and good) coffee, lovely Greek breads, ham, cheese, cold cut options, plus cake, jams (three home made), biscuits, fruit, yoghurt, and honey, and fruit juice. This is at the very top end of the "two star" rating it has been given.

Spent 2 weeks at hotel Stoupa in August. Had a fantastic time, the hotel is in a perfect location with a quick walk to both the resort centre and beach. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast each morning was a choice of cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, ham, cheese etc
Plenty of choice for everyone. There is a bar at the hotel where the breakfast is served but never saw anyone using it. Could probably do with a bit more atmosphere. We were in room 32 which had a good view of the mountains and was clean and well maintained, with the cleaners coming in daily except Sundays. The only problem we found with the room was that there wasn’t enough plug sockets and none at all near the beds. I was so glad I had packed an extension lead as I don’t know how we would have coped without charging phones etc.
It was our first time to Stoupa and certainly won’t be our last. It’s a gorgeous resort with plenty of restaurants to choose from, we ate in a different restaurant each night and didn’t have a bad meal. There’s some lovely bars to choose from too, Enigma for cocktails, Stekis for a cheaper experience and very friendly. Also Patrikos for entertainment.
We really can’t wait to return.

Stayed at the Stoupa Hotel September 2012. This was our 3rd trip to stoupa so we knew the Stoupa Hotel was in a quiet position not too far away from the beach etc. It lived up to our expectations. Very Clean, Breakfast was very good and very varied for Greece. Fresh bread and cakes everyday, always fresh fruit, Greek yogurt 3 or 4 types of homemade jams Plenty of tea, coffee and fruit juices. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean.
Would I recomend this hotel...Yes. Wish we could get in this year...No flights on the dates we want to travel.

Our room was a good size and very well modernized with plenty of storage space, with a fridge. The shower room was tiny but well equipped and everything worked. At first we were slightly dismayed that the Hotel is right on the access road from the main road into the village, but traffic noise turned out not to be a problem because, with it being very hot (early September) at night we needed the windows closed for the air conditioning. The lack of any grounds in which to sit was made up for by our good sized balcony with an awning and comfortable chairs; although it was on the corner of the building and looked out on the road, it did have side views of the sea (and sunsets) and the local acropolis, and there was a welcome breeze in the daytime. Also it was ideal for picnic lunches.

Everywhere was beautifully kept, and our only slight criticism was the snack bar; there was a notice saying it was open from 1pm till late, but there was nothing to say what was on offer or at what price. We never saw anything to eat or even hot drinks being served. However, the breakfast was just what we wanted, and when – 8 to 10 am. Fruit, cereals, good bread jam and coffee, cold meat cheese tomato and olives, and boiled eggs to order - all on elegant china.

Generally, the many tavernas were good, some excellent, and all were very good value. The swimming was lovely. There were bus services but they tended not to be all that convenient for tourists, and the well-known sights are mostly a long way off, particularly driving over that dramatic terrain. We enjoyed having a car for a few days and did not find it stressful, though we mainly stuck to the immediate area around Stoupa.

As the previous reviewers have said, this is a super little hotel. It's spotlessly clean throughout, nice and quiet, with a lovely view of the hills as you eat your breakfast from the open air terrace.
The rooms are fairly basic, with a balcony, tv and a fridge, which is really useful if you want to buy drinks from the supermarket to have in your room. The bathrooms are small but again spotlessly clean. Soap is provided but you have to bring your own shampoo. There is an extra charge for a room safe (1 euro per day) and air conditioning (7 euros per day). When we stayed it was over 100F every day, so rather than pay the 49 euros, we went to the supermarket and bought a fan for 20 euros which worked perfectly well.
The breakfast wasn't lavish, but was fresh and appetising and more than enough to start the day with and the ladies who served us were always friendly and welcoming.
The hotel's situated in a peaceful spot and Stoupa itself is gorgeous, with an excellent beach, clear water and plenty of restaurants. Best of all there's no shouting, no drunks, no sirens, no loud mobile phone conversations, no one pressuring you to buy anything, in fact no hassles at all! Brilliant!
If you're thinking of going to Stoupa or the Stoupa Hotel on holiday, do it, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Just came back from 2 weeks at the "Stoupa Hotel" The previous reviews were all correct. The hotel is spotless. Rooms are cleaned every day, with towels being changed on the 3rd day. It is family run, with Yannis on the bar giving lots of good information on places to visit or eat. Air-con was free, but the safe in the room cost 30 euros for 2 weeks. There is a fridge in the room with glasses provided. The breakfast was brill, with loads on offer. You can ask for other things if you don't like what you see. The resort is really good for kids in the daytime, with lots of safe shallow bathing. There are 4 beaches. 1 is really busy, then the main beach which is about 150mtrs down a smallish incline from the hotel. There are 2 other quieter beaches to the left of the main beach, which are great for kids. The nightlife is centered around the seafront, and is very much taverna orientated, so not as much going on for children. We ate at some good tavernas. We can recommend 100% Akrogiali (left of beach) which you will have to queue at, but well worth it. Another is the Riviera Right of beach. People have said the Pefko was really good, but I didn't enjoy my meal. I suppose you have to try and make up your own mind. Importantly: The beer is 2 1/2 euros, and the wine varies between 2 1/2-4 euros for 1/2 litre of wine. Metaxa and coke was 4 euros. If you enjoy a walk, there is a costal walk to Agios Nicholas. It has a proper concrete path for cyclists and walkers only. It is about a 6 mile round trip. You can dip in the sea on the way to cool down. This is a nice simple fishing village. Near the village is a beach where the hype seems to be on a bit of cliff jumping. To hire a push bike it cost 10 euros a day. We got a car ( be warned book in advance or loose out) We booked with "Napoleon", out of hotel door turn left 50 mtrs on left, just ask yannis. A panda car ( one step up from a dodgem car), but brand new cost 106 euros for 2 days. Paid extra 10 euros a day, but no cost to you if you have any sort of accident. Otherwise you might get charged 300 euros excess. Other car companies said you had to book for 4 days to get a full waiver of damage. In the car go to "Messini" ( amazing). This is a roman city which is massive over acres. 2 euros entry. for 3 more euros you can go in the museum. (not worth it) It takes about 2 hours drive to get to "Messini". The other was "Mystras". This is a castle and monasteries etc, which are still standing to go inside. Again is over a large area. Cost is 5 euros to get in. The road is through a long mountain pass. NO Petrol stations. The views are amazing with the road cut through cliffs. Don't go back all the way you came. Go back a mile and take the signs for aereopolis, this takes an hour off the journey with a straight road. Takes 2 1/2 to get there. The road from Kalamata to the hotel is bend after bend on the mountain, so take a travel pill if needed as it takes 1 1/4 hours to get there. All in all, this was a fantastic hotel where service was priority, along with a brilliant resort to relax in. Would go again, and would recommend to any age. There are people there that have been going for years. Look at the other reviews to help make a decision. Hope this review helps. Remember everyone has their own opinion, but it does seem in this case that most reviews are the same.

My first stay in Stoupa and must comment on such a lovely hotel. We couldn't fault it apart from the beds being a bit on the firm side, but that is being very picky. Superb all you can eat breakfast on the lovely sun terrace, kept very clean and tidy and warm friendly unobtrusive staff. No pool but with the lovely beach literally 100yds away, who cares.

Small air conditioned bar open till late in the evening. All in all a place for a quiet peaceful break with no booming music or squabbling over sun loungers by the pool. This would certainly not appeal to holiday makers who just want to laze by a pool and drink in the bar all day and night but for a well kept base to enjoy the wonderful village of Stoupa and it's laid back atmosphere, you can't go far wrong.

Undoubtedly deserving of its 1st place in the speciality listings on Tripadvisor. The hotel is well maintained, spotlessly clean and serves up a great continental breakfast buffet. Yannis and his mother do a good job of looking after their guests and you can be assured of a warm welcome. It was early in the season when we stayed so the hotel's small bar and lounge was little used but was a nice-to-have feature of the hotel. Rooms away from the road were the quietest and sleep quality in these rooms was good. Rooms at the front of the hotel overlook the road into Stoupa and there is some traffic noise but all rooms have modern double glazing (and a/c for a small charge) and there was little traffic whilst we were there. Overall a great little place to stay.

Super Stoupa again
Just returned from a week at the Hotel Stoupa. As this was our 2nd stay, we knew what to expect. The hotel is perfect. Clean and very welcoming. No complaints with breakfast. Plenty of choice. We loved the selection. If you prefer something cooked there are plenty of little places along the seafront offering a choice. We had a room on the ground floor at the back and it was just right to enjoy your g and t before heading out for an evening meal. There are numerous places to eat and no one pesters. The hotel is just far away from the seafront to enjoy a stroll home. We liked Mango's snack bar and used their free sunbeds every day. The lunch time snacks were excellent.
We would certainly return to Stoupa and Hotel Stoupa.

Hi , how much is it for 2 sun beds and umbrella on the beach, thanks.
Answer from 2Sweeties
Hertfordshire, United Kingdom945 contributions155 helpful votes
Gratis! If you pick a beachside cafe or taverna where they have sunbeds out front, they don't charge, as long as you either order food and drink from the guy looking after the beach beds. Certain ones, you get two beach beds, one umbrella, a table, and an extra chair!

No idea! I have no hair anyway! And hair dryers at a hotel in Greece are not really a necessity when one can dry your hair on the balcony under a boiling hot sun or warm evening breeze in less than a minute!

Which rooms get the sun late afternoon/ early evening TIA
Answer from 2Sweeties
Hertfordshire, United Kingdom945 contributions155 helpful votes
We were on ground floor, away from the road (i.e. the back of the hotel). We got sun on our balcony all afternoon / late afternoon, so much so our beach towels dried quickly. I should think the top floor rooms above us would get even more. It didn't matter for us, as it was too hot to sit out in the direct sunlight for our liking.
Jill55 asked a question Jun 2023

Which rooms are the best, is there sea views.TIA
Answer from 2Sweeties
Hertfordshire, United Kingdom945 contributions155 helpful votes
Doubt it! We were on the ground floor, though there is just one floor above. The back of the hotel towards the sea is blocked by another hotel, and the front overlooks the mountains. It's just a few minutes to walk to the sea and bay, and inland, so not exactly on the seaside itself. Judge yourself by looking at the different views/profiles available on Google Maps - terrain default / satellite etc. Then click on the hotel profile itself and look at the photos. Also click on "Street View" and follow the best path down to the beach etc. That's how I do my research!
