Just returned from yet again, an amazing holiday in Kalogria/Stoupa. The hotel is a comfortable and always a very warm welcome from the lovely Rena & Kosta as well as all the other staff. Accommodation and restaurant superb. The boys working on the beach in extreme heat always a smile and eager to help. Until the next time.

Having been to most of the Greek islands, we were recommended Stoupa by a friend, and as we had never been to this part of Greece before, thought we would give it a go - we were so glad we did!!! The journey from the airport in the taxi took about an hour, along a lovely coastal/mountainous road with amazing views. On arrival at the apartments we were shown to our sea view studio by the lovely receptionist, Corina. The location and the view of the beach were just what we had hoped for. We had a full size fridge and a kettle in the room, so we were able to have a light breakfast on the balcony. The restaurant that belongs to the apartment is excellent, has a bar service on the beach, and great takeaway food for lunch. The free reserved sunbeds on the beach are a real bonus, as it can get very busy at times. We ate out every evening, sometimes in the restaurants on Kalogria beach, and again the 10 minute walk into Stoupa is so easy, with more excellent restaurants, we were spoilt for choice. We didn't have one bad meal in the whole week and such reasonable prices as well, much cheaper than at home. We slept really well, it was so quiet and peaceful at night. We enjoyed this holiday so much that we intend to book for next year and bring my sister and brother-in-law along too. Would really recommend these apartments to family and friends.

We have just returned from another amazing holiday at this wonderful family hotel. The attention to detail is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for Rena and her team. I was unwell and she organised the doctor and the clinic and even took me there. The adjoining restaurant is excellent and the position right on the beach is fab. The reserved sun beds are a big plus and it’s great to be served on the beds by the excellent beach team.

My partner and I had a lovely time in Greece. Kalogria Beach hotel. Is right on the beach which is very handy. It also has (in my opinion) the best restaurant in the area attached to the hotel we are there twice for dinner as it was so good and the service was excellent! The hotel itself is a family run business and provides a clean and functional space with good air conditioning and plenty of storage space. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. An excellent feature of staying at Kalogria beach hotel is that as a guest you have free (reserved) sun beds which is fabulous as the beach can get very busy in August especially at weekends. I am Told hiring other sunbeds on the beach was quite expensive so we were pleased to not have this as an additional cost to our holiday. Note: if you go to Stoupa in August expect it to be busy on the beach. If you would like a quieter holiday I’d advise booking to go in June/early July or in September.

Rena, family and team have created the best relaxing holiday stay. The position on Kalogria beach in lovely Stoupa is an obvious plus but the rooms, restaurant, staff and service combine to meet your every need. So welcoming charming and helpful. Full size fridge in the room is great, loungers right by the sea, allocated to your room free for your stay make this great hotel a bargain. Thank you Rena and team- we will be back.

We have just returned for 10 lovely days at the Kalogria Beach hotel. We love Stoupa and swimming at Kalogria and have wanted to try this accommodation for a few years. We were not disappointed we loved it and will certainly return. Everything was perfect, the rooms, staff, service and location right on the beach. It was lovely to have an early morning dip and then enjoy a delicious breakfast on the terrace. The restaurant has had a make over. It is light spacious and the food is amazing. We tried new dishes and Greek favourites and we were very impressed. A most wonderful 10 days.

We have just had the perfect week in the paradise of this amazing beach hotel. The apartment was gorgeous with a powerful shower, the most comfortable bed ever and super quick WiFi. Rena, her family and staff are simply the best. The food in the restaurant is superb. Breakfasts are free and a lovely way to start the day. The reserved sunbeds are brilliant and takes away the stress of getting a sunbed. The staff that work the beach are fantastic and really hard working. There is nothing that they haven't thought of at this amazing hotel. We have just spent a week in heaven. This is my forever venue. Steven and Tina ward.

We had a beautiful, modern room with balcony and direct seaview. The arrangement included accommodation, breakfast and umbrella and chairs at the beach. The daily contact with Rena and Kosta and their staff was warm and heartfelt as during our last stays at their hotel.

This was easily the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had and I eat out all the time. I had a severe nut allergy reaction during the meal as the king prawn spaghetti had a pesto paste in it which contained cashew nuts. The situation was even more dangerous as there are no hospitals in the area!! My Greek friend had very clearly stated my nut allergy and explained there must be no dishes containing nuts on the whole table - there was not even a language barrier. I had to pay and leave quickly to go get medication but the next morning I went to the restaurant again. The manager stated “he didn’t like how we left the restaurant”, referring to me saying “it’s not good enough, allergies are serious”. I replied that I was at risk of dying and had to leave hastily to get medication. My friends did not even finish their meals and it completely ruined our night so I said I wanted a refund for it. I felt we were met with such hostility and they blamed me for not being more careful. The waiter in Greek said we were talking “bull****” thinking we did not understand him which was extremely rude (he was not even the one who served us). The manager denied several times that there were nuts in my dish. Even though the night before the waiter brought out the pesto paste that was used and it had a massive picture of cashew nuts on it!!! A refund was issued but the lack of taking any responsibility and trying to shift blame onto me just invalidated how I was feeling and the seriousness of the situation. I have been in Greece for 2 weeks and eaten out twice daily and all other restaurants have taken my allergy very seriously apart from this one. I am still shocked by the rudeness and ignorance of the staff and I urge anyone with any allergies to not visit this restaurant.

Response from Rena Balaktaris, Owner at Kalogria Beach Hotel
Responded 22 Jan 2021
I have responded to this review previously but it is no longer on the page, I am really surprised at this. In the 35 years we have been in business, we have had only 3 bad reviews but for me this is the worse one ever. A man booked a room in a local hotel for these 5 girls and I believe that they were sent here to make trouble. The girls came from Kalamata, stayed one night and left on the 8.00am bus the following morning. As they did not stay in my hotel They are not in a position to make any comment on this site regarding the hotel. I do know that the restaurant, which is a separate business in the same place always takes great care when they are told of any allergies that the guests may have. May I add that all 5 girls looked very well both in the evening and the next morning when they came back to make further complaints. The owner of the hotel in which they stayed, told us that the girls were all fine, made a party, drank and danced all night long. Please remove this untrue review form this site.
