There are two islands one can stay on when visiting Cape Maclear, Domwe and Mumbo. Domwe is the less pricy option but it had all the amenities we needed. The accommodation is on stilted wooden platforms. The beds are comfy and the view of the lake is breathtaking. It feels as if you are on the lake. We had room...

We spent two nights at this camp on and Island 2 kms offshore from Cape Maclear. It was a beautiful spot. We had arranged with Kayak Africa, who have the concession for the camp to have kayaks and snorkeling gear available for us and also to have full catering. All of which made for a really relaxing time. The Malawian...

We spent 3 nights at Domwe Island, and it was magical. I felt like being in Paradise! The staff where very helpful and nice, and the food was excellent! We used the kayaks, and went snorkeling and swimming in the lake. The days went by too fast and I would gladly have stayed longer <3

Good for a day trip, but don't stay over: Lovely to kayak to the island, swim around the beach and cool of while snorkeling. We had a great time chilling in the hammocks. The sunset is spectacular to watch from sunset rock. It is quite a steep climb to the top of the hill, with lots of tiny flies at...

We only had one night on Domwe and we loved every minute of it. We booked one of the furnished tents which was really comfortable and clean. However we managed to get the only tent there that doesn’t have a sea view – a big disappointment for us. We naturally assumed that all the tents would have views of the...

Next to Mumbo Island. This little island offers adventurers an opportunity to get lost in paradise. I would suggest a rented camp with bedding and buy food hampers and employ the chef - it is the most beautiful, romantic and amazing experience. I loved every minute.

If you are visiting the Cape Maclear area - a 3-night visit on Domwe Island must be on your itinerary! Our group of 12 lived were pampered by the staff. Went on a sunset cruise. Snorkelled and kayaked and baked in the sun. Our accommodation was perfect; very private and pristine clean. "Getting back to our roots" was the plan...

We spent a truly wonderful 4 days on Domwe and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The island, which is uninhabited and is part of a national park, feels utterly peaceful and secluded. The beach and the water are clean and unspoilt. The camp is cleverly and sensitively tucked into the trees so it’s hardly visible until you come right up...

Loved every minute. The staff both in Cape Maclear and on the island were totally amazing and helpful. Clean, peaceful and a true get away from everything. I can truly recommend this. Loads of kayaking, snorkelling and eating to be done, and the staff on the island will even cook for you if you want to. I did the self...

We went with Kayaks to the island and really enjoyed our stay there. The island is a wonderful place to escape Cape Mac although it is really close (we needed about 40 minutes with the Kayaks). The staff is very helpful and they try their best to make your stay as comfortable and unforgettable as possible. When you bring your...
