This was my first visit to paradise, as a matter of fact, it was my first time out of the country. The plan originally included four of us but eventually four of us became just me. When I arrived at the Rio I was introduced to a group from Virginia that quickly took me in as one of their own....

We were looking for cheap and cheerful and were pleasantly surprised. This guest house was recommended by somebody much younger than us and looking at the website it seemed to be geared for younger folks (we are in the 50-60 age bracket). However we bit the bullet and decided to give it a go, booking the Studio which is bigger...

I stayed at the Rio Guesthouse in Feb/March 2007 for two weeks and had a wonderful time. The guesthouse was very clean and the rooms were spacious and cleaned daily. The wooden floors made it most attractive. It was great having the balcony so we could sit out in the evenings with our rum punch before going to the Gap....

Never stayed abroad before in a guest house so wasn't entirely sure what to expect (used to work for Hilton so been really spoilt on previous hols!). I shouldn't have been worried, this really is a fantastic place to stay - ok, it's basic, no aircon, etc, but it's cheap, very clean, in a fantastic position and EXTREMELY friendly! The...

First off, let me say that I agree with all of the previous postings regarding the rooms. They are clean and the price is excellent. The location is the best, walking distance from Dover beach, and all the night life anyone could want. The owners of the Guesthouse were nice and helpful when asked. However.. here are the issues we...

We travelled to Barbados to stay with Family for two weeks and during our stay spent a long weekend at the Rio. We were not expecting much due to the cheap rate, however, we were both pleasantly surprised by what met us when we arrived. We had a double room with our own bathroom. The room was basic but very...

I stayed at the Rio Guesthouse in St. Lawrence Gap for 2 nights in mid January 2007. It's a well-located hostel that costs about $40USD for a single/shared bath or $55USD for a double/private bath. I chose the double/private bath and was happy with my decision. There is no A/C but there is a ceiling fan and two smaller fans....

Hi my names Darren, and I spent 4 and a half weeks at Rio guest house. I've done quite a bit of travelling in the past and originally planned to travel to different guest houses around Barbados - but I arrived at Rio first and never wanted to go anywhere else. The Rio is situated less than 200m from a...

My expectations for the Rio weren't high as it was so cheap, but I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are bright and pleasant, with gorgeous hardwood floors. The communal bathroom was always clean and never occupied when I needed to use it. (soap would have been nice, though). I appreciated having a sink and desk in my bedroom. The staff...

Rio guesthouse welcomed me to Barbados with open arms as a 1st time visitor to the picturesque Island. The staff were always willing to give advise on places of interest to go. "Reggea on the Hill" a recent yearly event was one of the finest live entertainment I jammed to, and St Lawerence Gap filled with an eclectic mixture of...
