Stopped off here on the way to Aviemore. A warm welcome from the lovely friendly girl behind the bar. Even got the manager to light the wonderful log fire as it was a pretty chilly day. Lunch was great - only pub food but wonderfully cooked and presented - at two main meals for £10 you can't go wrong. Followed... More

We drive up here 3 or 4 times a year from Aberdeen and as a rule always have the chicken fillets. Why? Well one the are incredibly tasty, and secondly excellent value. This hotel is nothing special, the decor is somewhat dated but who cares! The staff, and there have been many in our experiences have all been very welcoming... More

Tomintoul is like an oasis in the southern Speyside, and we found the waterhole here. A very cosy pub with an ok selection of beverage. The food is typical pub food. Simple and ok. The breakfast was good. The rooms are clean and nice - nothing fancy. The staff very friendly.

Myself and my now wife came here whilst staying locally. Late-ish on a Monday night and it was really busy. Loads of big groups of different people, young and old, couples, foreign couples. Everyone seemed to get on! Has brilliant atmosphere, and the food is really nice. Menu is a decent pub menu and nicely cooked and quite big portions.... More

Had a recent meal in the Glen Avon, while visiting Tomintoul. Food is of a decent quality and good value, the staff were friendly and attentive. With this being a small highland pub/ hotel the atmosphere is really good. Will visit again when in the area.

I visited one Saturday evening in May (at about 2120) looking for a late evening meal, having got back to my B&B later than expected. Having been turned away by other establishments in town the guy behind the bar asked the chef to keep the kitchen open late just for me. Although it was a simple bar meal it was... More

Friendly atmosphere, our room was a double with single for a family with en suite. Great value for money, breakfast was lovely too. Would definitely stay again if skiing at the Lecht as only 15 minutes away. Pub attached and good pub grub, varied menu with friendly service. Pool and darts available in pub.

We love this place it's wonderful. We drive up for lunch from Avimore when on holiday and the drive is absolutely stunning. The pub serves very good pub grub at extremely good value. Always a warm welcome and the lovley open fire is a bonus.

We had a nice meal and quick service . It is used by local workers /contractors and the atmosphere was loud and busy during , 5.30 to 8pm. Once the " workers " had finished the pub calmed down and was a comfy place to enjoy a drink and watch the football that was on. Seemed like it would be... More

We didn't stay here but frequented a few times through the week. The food is decent enough. Basic pub grub at reasonable price. Good ales on tap, and quiet enough for reading a good book. Service was quick and people were pleasant to deal with. All in all, a fine place if you're not looking for anything fancy.
