Amazing accommodation! Warm, clean and cosy stay. The welcome pack with local whiskeys was a treat to be greeted with. Plenty to do in the surrounding towns. We found Grantown (20 min drive) to provide everything we needed for our stay. Will definitely be returning for another escape!

We stayed a week in The Grain Store end Aug / early Sept. Actually we'd booked the smaller Cattle Shed but the owner upgraded us when we arrived - how often does that happen? The refurbishment of the steading is a quality job and the big windows really make the most of the lovely views across the valley. Having stayed...

The house (we stayed in the Grain Store) offers stunning views over the Glenlivet landscape. The fields below are abundant with animals which was especially appreciated by our two toddlers. The house is well equipped, clean and spacious. There are many interesting places to visit within one hour drive. The supermarket in Granton is well stocked.

Met, and exceeded, our expectations. Great accommodation and very amenable owners. Fab views. We wanted a short fself catering break with dogs, and this was perfect for us. Flexible start and end dates is so rare to find in self catering. Go! You won't be disappointed! The Glenlivet bike trails and cafe are good too!

We have just returned from a week staying in the Cattle shed and it was so nice we really didn't want to come home! Every time you looked out of the window you were greeted with some of the most stunning views I have ever seen. It's so peaceful and quiet too. You get a little welcome gift of some...

We stayed at "The Mill" during the New Year period. The location is fantastic with views across the hills. The rooms were clean and the cottage was very warm with the underfloor heating and even warmer with the log burner lit! Our two dogs stayed and there are lots of walks for them. The cottage is bright and modern. Internet...

Just home from a fantastic break staying in the Grain Store. Traditional barn conversion with modern and airy decor with everything you need for a family break. Stunning scenery and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of life without feeling too isolated. We stayed with 3 kids and 2 dogs and had loads of room. The log burner...

Balneden Steading is set in the most picturesque scenery the UK has to offer, the views from the accommodations looks out onto the Cairngorms national park and across the Glenlivet Estate. I booked the cattle shed as a last minute thing, considering I was in Scotland for a couple of days for a wedding and desperately needed s break from...

If you are looking to get away from everything this is the place for you. The location is second to none! It's in the Scottish highlands near Aviemore. The cottages are very modern and they have spared no expense in doing them up. We stayed in The Mill which I believe is the largest of the 3 cottages, you have...

Balneden is the ideal location for a self-catering holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Converted in 2010 Balneden Steading offers 3 newly-renovated cottages to rent - The Mill (sleeps 4+1), The Grain Store (sleeps 4+1), and The Cattle Shed (sleeps 2). The Cottages can be booked individually or in combination to meet your party's needs. We also offer short breaks (minimum 2 night stay). Perfectly located at the start of the Whisky and Castle Trail, one mile from the A939 Highland Tourist Route between Grantown-on-Spey and Tomintoul, we are situated in the stunning Glenlivet Estate, within the Cairngorms National Park. We are just 30 minutes drive away from activity-filled Aviemore, yet also just 45 minutes drive from the wildlife of the Moray Firth. The breathtaking panoramic views from Balneden (see above) are stunning and make Balneden the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Highland life. The cottages themselves are renovated and furnished to a very high standard, we hope to have thought of everything to make your stay in The Highlands as magical as possible. ... more   less
