This is a lovely hotel on a lovely beach , this is not our first visit and won’t be our last.
The hotel is great for couples, family’s,even if you are alone, it’s safe will security on hand 24/7 so you always feel very safe, the staff are excellent we just want to say thankyou to everyone .
The rooms are just what is needed, very clean and cleaned everyday ,with fresh towels daily ,beach towels daily , you only have to ask and they will try there best to help . Don’t expect though to go to Barbados and get anything done quickly , it’s a very relaxed place and you are on holiday so lay back and enjoy.
Acra beach is within walking distance from the hotel if you wanted a change of scenery, but can get very busy,
There’s plenty of restaurants also within walking distance day or night, Barbados isn’t cheap but you get what you pay for .
St Nicholas abbey is a must , the house and the train tour was fantastic , you can make a day of it, they also have a restaurant for some lunch . Well kept very clean , stunning place .
Car hire is well worth it , even if it’s just for the day to travel around the island, north point is a must and a very good lunch stop, food is excellent . (Animal flower cave )
Bathsheba east coast is also a nice place to visit , you can stop at any beach bar or little rum shack for a nice cold drink to cool down and look at the views .We have never had any issues in Barbados .
So thankyou everyone at Blue Orchid , keep up the good work everyone see you soon . Room 109 xmas and new year

I hadn't been to Barbados before ( although i have been to quite a few Caribbean islands ) so did not know how to play accommodation. Blue Orchid is mid range ( upper budget ) hotel south of Bridgetown. I hired a car so we could see the island. Its very easy to get around, both by car and public transport. In future i might not bother with the car.
The hotel is a bit dated / tired. The kitchen area (we had a 2 bed apartment on ground floor) was small and had only very basic cooking equipment. We had planned on eating in a few nights but in the end went out each night. The cooker was just a little too basic and there was no BBQ or anything like that. On the other hand a lot of the other residents ( mainly 60+) did seem to eat in , they all seemed to be there for multi week breaks from North America. Room was clean though so no complaints there.
There were no sunbeds that i could get my hands on after 8-9 am. So if you were not sure what you were going to do that day and then decided to stay on their beach it would be too late to get beds WITH parasols. Many seemed unoccupied but with towels on.
Staff friendly enough, supermarkets ( 2) were walkable as were a couple of restaurants and the Tiki Bar ( reasonable for late night drink / snack) . Also went on a splurge to Champers Restaurant 100 yards away - superb - but pricey!
On the whole it was OK but having now been and travelled around the island i would definitely go Airbnb, lots of really good apartments for rent with what appears very good furnishings / kitchens, and for same or less money.

This hotel was everything I wanted it to be, the room was cleaned daily. We went room only and ate out most evenings, a small kitchen area with everything needed to cook, even had a coffee peculator 👌🏻All the staff were really friendly and would offer assistance when needed. I would stay here again 👌🏻

Most staff was friendly and professional in some aspects. There were a few issues on arrival and the stay at the hotel. Air Conditioner issue on check in to our room, and then it seemed to be resolved, however after we check in and left the room for an hour to come back, the room was filled with a heavy puddle of water and we requested to be change to another room because of the inconvenience in a very short period of time. Another issue was the location of the room moved to, the elevator was out of order and we had to with staff take our heavy luggage and walk four flights of stairs to our changed room.
Twin beds were put together to make a king size bed, and mattress was not very comfortable as it gaped open sometimes and slept with aches and pains.
Housekeeping staff seemed
to pressure us to clean the room and would not wait for the signed to be place for room to be cleaned, but constantly asked, if we needed the room cleaned. which seemed to me that their wanted to hurry and get it done in a early time, and then the rooms was not throughly cleaned, instructions would always be left to what needs to be done even as simple as cleaning the soap scum from the sink or wiping the patio glass doors
Lastly we travel alot, and some properties would give some kind of complimentary of appreciation even if it is a bottle of water. We spoke with the Manager Ms. Carrington and spoke on our experience thus far and asked her if their offer any complimentary and she replied by saying “some ppl stay longer and our length stay was not a big deal to her and it might be a big deal to us. (poor choice and insulting words) she did say she would sleep on it, but avoided us when she saw us in sight by hurrying to go to her office. Our stay ended and Ms. Carrington I might added is still sleeping on it.

The property was up to par for the most part, peaceful and quiet and amenities was also good for us because we got to use the kitchen in our room to make breakfast or dinner of our choice.. The location was prefect to get to and fro. The beach was rough on the property area which did not allow much beach enjoyment at all. ☹️

Having stayed at the Coral mist a few years ago which was lovely we decided to stay at the adjoining hotel Blue orchid,
Being disabled I had requested to be near the pool.On arriving at the hotel the woman on the desk was not very friendly or welcoming (20th visit to island) which was not very nice after such a long journey. We paid the hotel room levy and were given our keys.We enquired about breakfast as we had paid to have this , to be told just go down to the restaurant in the morning.
Our room was dark and dingy and my daughter (10 year old) had the most disgusting pull out bed !.Going into the bathroom there was not even enough room to swing a cat and trying to use the toilet with low mobility was a nightmare,
Trying to make the best of a bad thing I told myself to not get upset and asked my husband to run me a bath.....well I wouldn't bath my dog in the bath we had, it was all rusty and the tap was literally hanging off the wall!! Added to our stress we opened the patio doors to find to get to the pool you had to walk on a very uneven path.
We decided to not unpack and went to bed.
In the morning we went down for breakfast (only ones there) and the girl was quite friendly and gave us menus and we ordered a breakfast and had coffee, juice ect x when we had finished we said we had the breakfast included to which the girl said she didn't know and had to check!! She eventually returned and said that reception hadn't sent any paperwork to them and our breakfast was either fruit or porridge not what we had eaten ( full breakfast) and that we might have to pay extra!!
We then went to reception and explained to the lady we weren't happy with our room as it wasnt disabled friendly and I had also requested to be near the pool due to my disability, also the bath was disgusting and the tap was hanging off the wall. The receptionist said she would talk to the manageress and disappeared, eventually returning to say that to move to a better room would cost us an extra £350!!! By now I was in tears as you could see I am disabled. We told her that this was not on as we had paid enough already and had emailed them before arriving to explain my disability, the receptionist went away again and this time came back with the manageress who said she would drop price to £250!! I told her in all the 20 visits to the island I had never been in such a disgusting room and wouldn't wash my dog in that bath ( am I in floods of tears) she glared at me and said give me an hour.
4 hrs later we returned to reception as we hadn't heard anything and was told we were being given the room by the pool, the manageress was just leaving and she glared at me and said hope you are happy with the room in a very unfriendly manner!!
We moved to an ideal room and decided not to spend a penny in the hotel.
We are so disappointed our holiday started in this way after such a wonderful experience at coral mist ( still staff there who remembered us) .
Blue orchid, you need up your customer service

Great little apartment / hotel room
Convenience of a small kitchen and a fridge freezer for drinks was great - the sea view was amazing.
Staff on the beach were really helpful with sun loungers and the small restaurant was great for breakfast.

Bus stop is right outside the hotel and great for getting around the island and the staff are helpful and accommodating - would not hesitate to stay here again.

We spent the first week on the island on the west coast and due to spend our second week in the blue orchid. Wr arrived this afternoon to this :
Staff asleep In reception
No hello or welcome from reception
We were asked to oay the room levy but had a feeling that upstairs would have the same feeling of disappointment as we experienced on entering the hotel in the reception, dowdy , smelly and totally run down so did not pay the levy.
We were not wrong, we got handed our key and told to carry our bags up the stairs to the 3rd floor as the lift wasn't working, there was no offer of help
On entering our room it was dingy, it smell musty, the tiles were cracked, the toilet brush was filthy, stained ceiling, the pillows were discoloured, no information pack In the room , the grounds were dirty, staff were walking around with an unliy cigarette in their mouth, all staff we came across did not acknowledge us apat from the entertainment guy who was lovely.
This was double the price of our first week . We stayed at the beach view hotel the first week, the staff were lovely, the facilities were clean, the grounds are spotless , kitchen facilities were excellent and new with coffee and tea being provided.

We were so upset that we called beachview and asked if they had any availability, luckily they did and we have therefore booked back In for an extra week , obviously at an additional cost.
When we asked the receptionist for our check out paperwork so we could claim through our travel agents they said we couldn't have anything and we would lose the first three nights money.

We have ended up out of pocket but the welcome we received on coming back to beach view is no comparison on blue orchid. They welcomed us back and haven't even taken any money off us yet as they could see we were emotionally drained

The blue orchid is not a true picture of the Caribbean. Not their fault but the seaweed in the sea is disgusting .

We definitely do not recommend this hotel. Please do not waste your money

The hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the airport. The location is wonderful. Our apartment had a small balcony overlooking the gardens and the sea. The sound of waves could always be heard. The hotel provides plenty of loungers around the pools, beneath the trees in the gardens and on the beach with sunshades. The apartment was very clean and had all we needed - a very large double bed, plenty of storage, a good shower and efficient air-conditioning. The kitchen and bathroom were dated but OK. The staff were friendly and helpful. Free WiFi was available throughout, including on the beach! We booked a bed and breakfast package. The restaurant staff were great but we were disappointed with the continental breakfast on offer. If we were returning we would pay extra to have the full breakfast menu. As other reviews have mentioned, there are plenty of restaurants and bars close by and the street food on offer at Worthing Square is fantastic. Buses and taxi vans can whisk you into Bridgetown in a few minutes, the fare only 3.50 Bajan dollars.

Our ground floor 2 bed apartment D106 opened right onto the beautifully kept garden. Sitting on the porch under the trees, looking out at the pool and the sea beyond was wonderfully relaxing. The location is perfect for south coast activities, you step right onto Worthing beach, with Rockley 2 minutes the other way. The apartment is roomy and quiet, both rooms had en suites. The apartment (and hotel generally) isn’t bang up to date and swanky but it is roomy clean and comfortable. Everything worked including good quiet a/c in the bedrooms (though we never tried the cooker). Nice well-kept pool, lovely deck to watch the sunset (but there were loose boards which need attention).
The things which ought to be better for the price were the shabby baths, intermittent hot water (but then how often do you want it there?) some fittings (flimsy plastic sash windows) and rubber pillows. Staff generally very friendly and kind (thanks very much Paul for helping me find my key on the beach…) though reception seemed a bit disenchanted sometimes. So 10/10 for the garden (and access from the ground was a big contributor), most of the staff, location, the space and peace. 5 for the bath and pillows, 7 for reception.

There seems to be a security/ nightwatchman there at all times. Useful parking space too. If I could get the same apartment I’d go back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Blue Orchids. It was like a small apartment with a kitchen, living area, bedroom, bathroom and porch. The bedroom has an air conditioner that did an excellent job cooling the room off at night. (Just make sure the doors are shut.) We enjoyed the pool. There is also access to a lovely beach. We did not eat at the restaurant. We walked across the street to Starbucks. We also walked about a mile to the Worthing Food truck area for dinner.
