HOLIDAY HOMES WITHIN THE HISTORIC CRICKET ST THOMAS ESTATE.Wake up to bird song with a whole day ahead of you. Stroll across wildflower meadows, through ancient woodland and down winding country lanes. Glimpse deer grazing, kingfishers flashing downstream or cast a line across tranquil water.Sip an early evening glass of wine as the sun melts into the sky. Dine out; savouring expertly prepared food just moments away. Take a nightcap in front of the woodburner’s crackling flames as mist hangs in the valley. Do what you want when you want. Fall asleep with a smile on your face.

Where do I start! To say we love it at Swandown Lodges would be an understatement. We have now visited 8 times and every visit is just as wonderful if not better than the one before. We have stayed in the Polden, 19 and 20 and now we have a dog we stay in 14 Goldenhaye. 14 is dog friendly but you wouldn’t know pets had ever been there! It is just as spotless as 19 and 20. Everything is clean, the lodges have all the amenities you need and the staff really are the icing on the cake. They truly are amazing and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. It wouldn’t be right to not also say a huge thank you to the cleaning team who work extremely hard to make sure the lodges are clean and ready for your stay. Thank you to Leroy, Stuart, Matt and Helen, we look forward to booking visit number 9! …

We visited here in June this year & thoroughly enjoyed it! The amenities are top class, with lots of added touches we weren’t aware of until we arrived. The lodges are roomy & very well equipped. Our lodge had a hot tub & the weather allowed us to spend alot of time outside, sitting on the patio area. We booked the use of the pool most days, although it is small its ideal for young families as its only used by one family at a time & isnt very deep. The footpath through the woods leading to the pub is a bonus as it avoids the busy road. We also used the Warner hotel by walking from our lodge, we enjoyed the scenery on the walk, but it is up hill on the way back. We used the gym & pool, although we couldn’t purchase anything at the bar here as we didn’t have a room card for the hotel. During our stay we visited Cheddar Gorge, Lime Regis & Longleat safari park. We had an amazing week & would definitely stay here again!…

Stayed at No4, Twill Lodge. Beautiful. Everything you could want and very clean. A lovely place to just chill and unwind. Booked through Cottages.com, but other lodges are rented through Sykes Cottages. Only 15 lodges on site, many of which privately owned or had owners in-situ. Close to Chard and Crewekerne. Views to die for. Large Tescos/Sainsburys in Chard (6 min drive away) and Tescos petrol station. Would recommend but don't tell everyone, as it's a spot I'd love to revisit someday, so keep it between us 😊

We’ve been staying in lodge 14 and we are going home tomorrow, we’ve had such a lovely time, the lodge is very comfortable and furnished to a high standard. Leroy who is on site couldn’t have been more helpful, he’s an asset to the lodges and I’m sure dedicates a lot of his time to making sure everything runs smoothly, we enjoyed a day trip to Lyme Regis and the walks on the estate are just beautiful, we spent this morning in the spa at the hotel and leisure club, we enjoyed a lovely around the house, very quiet, it was a perfect weekend.

Swandon Lodges are wonderful. We had the best time. They are furnished to a very high standard. The views are amazing. A nice little starter pack was left when we arrived. Everything you could possibly need is provided. There is a small pool on site which is popular but sessions seem to be spaced out nicely so you get the pool to yourselves. We went to the Warners hotel as you are given a complimentary pass. We used the leisure facilities which were good. Last but not least, a big shout out to Leroy who helps manage the lodges. What a lovely helpful chap he is. Really made us welcome. Thank you Leroy. We will return at some point.

As a family of 3 with a toddler, our Swandown lodge has been above and beyond our expectations! We have been staying in lodge 12A, which is in a lovely location with great views. The lodge itself is really well equipped, even providing children’s cutlery & plates. It is exactly as pictured, very spacious and well laid out. The fitted stair gates are also really convenient if you have small children. The only thing to note is that the lodges are really well insulated and get very hot at night it you have good weather, so we would probably bring a fan next time. The staff are so friendly and have been really helpful with advice on the nearest sandy beaches and checking that everything is okay with our lodge. The hot tub is cleaned twice a day, and the grounds are really well maintained. We loved the adventure trail! It’s only a short walk from the lodges and has been really great for our toddler. She loves the swings hidden in the trees and the play shed has everything you could want from badminton rackets to frisbees. The indoor pool is really great for small children too and we never had any problem booking it. Overall we’ve had a really great time at Swandown lodges and I would give more than 5 stars if it was possible! Thank you.…

Recommend to go, 100% the best time away! We always go away over our anniversary and birthdays at the beginning of every year. We was blown away by this place. We luckily stayed in number 9 kittwhistle Lodge, 2 bedroom 3 bathroom, open plan with big windows over looking the amazing estate views. As it is a self accommodation style I took everything I thought or normally need in others but needn't of as they think of everything. Kids plates and cutlery and high chair. Tea coffee and milk for when you arrive. Tea towel, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets etc etc. We had the check in time of after 5pm which is fine, nice to have an earlier check in to be able to spend more time there but completely understandable as the place was spotlessly clean. Check out time 9am which we just made, would be nice to have it after 10am but again understandable why. We had our hit tub which we used loads, it's checked twice a day to keep it clean. We also used the on site pool, do quiet had the place pretty much to ourselves whilst there which was so relaxing and peaceful. We walked miles on a few occasions around the estate, gardens and lakes. Saw the adventure trail but never managed to have the time to use it so we definitely want to go again and next time book for a longer stay. We didn't even leave the site whilst there. Local tesco superstore not far so can get esstials from there but the site has a little honesty shop in reception if you desperately need something. Also loved the games and puzzles you can borrow. All the staff super friendly and helpful. Our daughter enjoyed it especially the big estate road to ride her bike. Thank you to you all, we will be visiting again in the future.…

Fabulous weekend at swansdown lodges for a friends 50th birthday. We had a goldenhaye lodge and kittwhistle lodge. Considering they are a few years old you would think they are brand new. Kitchen equipment plates, cutlery, etc plentiful. Several sets so can fill dishwasher and still plenty of extras. Very clean and tidy. Staff on site very friendly and super helpful. Beautiful walks around the grounds of cricket at Thomas. Only disappointment was when we booked we planned it as a spa weekend using facilities at hotel. With lockdown that’s now not possible. Pub nearby serves a lovely meal. Will definitely return!
