Appenzell is a small agricultural district of north eastern Switzerland close to Lichtenstein and Austria, and south of Lake Konstanz/Bodensee. The nearest large town is St Gallen. Seeking a campsite for the night after a long drive from Italy we noticed a potential location at Appenzell. The attractive rolling landscape is very different from the dramatic high Alps but has... Very good stay. Hotel is nice and well located in the countryside. Rooms ("old" and new ones) are both clean, spacious, bedding is also comfortable. Staff was also friendly. Breakfast was very good. The spa is also a plus value. We had a very nice time there and also in Appenzell.

Narrow road leading to the hotel but when you get up there, it was a breathtaking view and you will love what you see. Family run and very friendly. We had our breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and the food was awesome. My son likes the playground and hang up there for quite a whie. Highly recommended.

We select this hotel because the beautiful picture on the booking.com. You will be disappointed that the hotel is surrounded by many little camping cabin, and they are not good looking cabin. The hotel price is ok, but just not worth the effort to drive there.

A fantastic mix of modern renovations and classic Appenzell feel. Wonderfully friendly service with great food..which is a little on the pricey side. The staff should be a little more knowledgable on the wines they serve in order to compliment the potential of the menu. A very comfortable and relaxing stay.

First lets get this out of the way Switzerland is expensive. this is no exception. NOW it was worth it The prices were what they are in that area. The food was outstanding well prepared delicious and more then you could eat, breakfast was the same. The staff went out of there way to make sure everything was perfect and... More

I really enjoyed my two night stay here recently. My room was very comfortable and quiet. I disagree with the earlier reviewer who said this place has no Swiss charm: there are two sections to this hotel, an older, traditional Swiss section (which I stayed in), and the newer more modern section of rooms. So you have your choice, it's... More

I went to dinner at this hotel with Swiss friends. It is hidden away in the alps in Appenzell, and aside from housing a beautiful patios restaurant, a hotel, spa, swimming pool, formal dining room it has a camp ground. Dinner was good Food presented very well and tasted great. It was undercover for the patio when it drizzled but... More

We camped here for two nights so that we could visit nearby Appenzell and Ebanalp. The campsite is essentially an open field on a hillside next to the hotel/restaurant. There are a handful of levelled plots for caravans but campers just select an available open space to pitch tents or park motorhomes. There are no marked out plots. The hillside... More

We expected a small, family run Swiss chalet. It's not. Somewhere in the past year or so, it appears that a four story, modern hotel was added on the backside of the chalet and that's not visible in the website photos. Nothing is mentioned about the 150+ permanent mobile home/cabins surrounding the hotel nor the RV parking and tent camping... More
