Strand Hotel Fevik is more than a hotel. Since 1937 the place has appeared as an exotic refuge in the Norwegian skerries, inviting to both recreation and adventure. The hotel has a rich history and is one of the few remaining functionalist style buildings in Norway. With the sea and soft sand dunes waiting just outside your door, this is probably the closest you can get to a Mediterranean holiday in Norway.

Strand Hotel Fevik had a magnificent location with a short distance to the sea and a shallow sandy beach. A beautiful terrace and garden with several seating areas invited for relaxation and recreation.

Guestrooms were simply furnished and consisted of beds, desks, flat-screen TVs and Nespresso coffee makers. There was no minibar. There was no air conditioning in the room which made this feel somewhat warm during our stay. The bathroom appeared as simple and there was dispenser soap at the sink and in the shower. The cleanliness and maintenance of the guest room was perceived as satisfactory.

The hotel had its own bar and restaurant with a large outside terrace. The menu was perceived as somewhat dull and the selection could have been expanded with several dishes with local affiliation. The staff in the bar and restaurant could also show some more attention and interest to the guests.

The hotel's breakfast was served as a plate dish (due to Covid-19) by friendly and friendly staff. The selection turned out great, but here too I missed a few more local dishes and the opportunity for greater opportunity to order hot dishes.

The staff appeared to be gentle and helpful, but lacked some service comments and I missed some more engagement for the guests.

The hotel had free wireless network throughout the hotel area.

The hotel had free parking for guests.

After firet being a bit disappointed by the room, which didn't have any view, no air condition and a mediocre bathroom, we continued to be pleasently surprised by the hotel the rest of the time.

Hotel staff was very polite and proper, the outdoor areas were beautiful. The beach was a nice sandy beach, with fine sand 50 meters into the ocean, a popular spot for visiitors from outside the hotel as well. In the outdoor sitting area, resereved for hotel guests only, we had an excellent view of the beach, sea and scenery, with both morning and evening sun. Table cleaning in the outdoor areas was somewhat slow, but when we ordered something, they made sure to clean the table of leftover dishes. Since the outdoor table didn't have table numbers, we ordered it for table 0, and never had an issue with delivery (as someone else here complained about).

The restaurant was very good. Good selection for breakfast, and the somewhat expensive dinner was high quality with excellent wine pairings.

A very nice area for biking as well, bus right outside the hotel, with destinations for Grimstad, Kristiansand and Arendal. Parking included in the stay, 10 minute drive to Grimstad, 15 minutes to Arendal, and 35 to Kristiansand, makes this a very good spot to stay when visiting the surrounding cities

Stayed 1 night in a nice charming room with seaview. Friendly staff and good food. The location and beach are stunning. We booked a table for the 3 course dinner. Food was exellent, but was a bit overprized (2000 NOK for 2 persons without wine package) The room was charming with a lovely mix of modern and old style. However - the bathroom really needs an upgrade. The staff was very friendly, but maybe a bit unexperienced….. and a hotel of this class should NOT have a menu and ordering process based on a QR code and cell phone. The “takeaway” impression this provide is not what a hotel of this standard deserves. :)

Dear OleL124 Thank you for your visit and your kind review. This is highly appreciated. I do understand your comments regardsing the QR system, however this has only been available from our bar and lunch menu, and it is only an alternative as we also take orders in person. In a somewhat challenging season due to covid restrictions this has been very helpful, and in general the feedback from our guests have been positive as well. I wish you a wonderful day and hope we get the pleasure of welcoming you back to Fevik on a later occation. Kind regards, Anja Beisland Hotelmanager

This beautiful hotel has a spectacular location and a very nice atmosphere. You really don´t feel like you are in Norway, but rather somewhere around the Mediterranean sea. It is understandable that Roald Dahl went here every summer for 30 years and got inspired to write his books. We had a large double room in the main building facing the breathtaking view with large windows. I wish more of the rooms in the old building had balconies, I missed to enjoy the view from the room even more. There was something special to stay in the original part of the building, but it was also worn out rooms that did not feel "newly refurnished" like promoted. Anyway, the view and the charm of the hotel makes us want to return.

As my mother in law turned 75, we planned a celebration with our closest family. I was in dialogue with the hotel several times prior to the booking. Little did we know that the hotel was all ready practically fully booked by a very lage group of guests ... I assume we got one of the last rooms available. The weekend was a constant reminder of being "the other ones" - those no one really had time for. My mother in law had been looking forward to have tea and dinner in the old classic 1930s restaurant Neptun. In stead we were shuffled into a small and very unattractive adjacent room for both tea and dinner. When complaining, rude staff told us off. Completely unacceptable. The tea itself was a disappointment, both regards the quality of food (scones very dry and open faced sandwiches instead of the traditional ones) and not worth the money. Also, we did not get to select the tea, so a fruit based tha that no noe really liked very much was served. Quality and personal touch is very important for a small hotel like this ... I feel they did not deliver on any of this parameters. When booked by a large group, it would be advisable to close the hotel for other guests to avoid unhappy customers - like me.

An old hotel at a little beach, romantic location. Rooms could be a bit more modernized. If you bring your kids, we do not recommend the quadruple, because the sleeping sofa for the kids was VERY inconvenient. Restaurant quality is not more than average. Still a good place for one or two nights.

We stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel has a good location right at the beach. Our room has a big terrace with a great view over the sea with plenty of light.

The breakfast is good and varied. As for dinner; the main course which was halibut was tasty but the ‘’diablo’’ sauce killed the delicate flavor of the fish. The starter and dessert was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The room is modern; Hampton style, clean and spacious with a Nespresso coffee machine. The TV channels were limited, mostly Norwegian. The toilet was equipped with a toilet complementary but lack of a rack to hang the toils and robes.

We have enjoyed using the spa (Jacuzzi), in spite of the fact that the sauna was out of order!

The garden is lush with beautiful trees and flowers.

We would like to comeback, hopefully in Summer so we can enjoy swimming.

Comfortable rooms with splendid views of the sea. The Strand hotel in Fevik is about 40 minutes from the nearest airport at Kristiansand. This hotel was known as a ‘bathing hotel’ and one can imagine families coming just for the proximity to the beach and calm seawater. The hotel has gardens that lead to a sandy beach and the sea. In August, the water was warm enough for swimming, but the hotel also has a jacuzzi for when it’s colder. There is a generous spread at the breakfast buffet with plenty of smoked salmon and prawn spread, and the famous caramelised Norwegian brown cheese. Staff were friendly and accommodating, helping us carry our luggage to the second floor. One drawback is that there is no elevator, which may be difficult for those with mobility issues. For those wanting to travel to the nearby seaside towns of Arundel or Kristiansan, the hotel will organise a taxi. Be sure to ask for a room with views of the sea, or better still, one with a balcony overlooking the sea.

Very nice hotel. Clean rom with balcony and partly sea view. Dispenser soap and no accessory in bathroom. Coffee machine. No refrigerator. Needed to argue to get window table in dinner restaurant, even though we had reserved and there was several tables unoccupied. Dinner mediocre and tasteless. Some Wines and drinks in list not available. Servants not trained. Breakfast was very good an breakfast service fantastic. Pricey, dinner and dinner service needs to be improved. Nice afternoon walk to Fevik marina.

A last minute change of travel plans led us to this picturesque beach hotel.
Situated right at a small sandy beach, this came as a lovely surprise as we got a beach view room with a big private balcony.
The staff is welcoming and we felt comfortable. A breakfast buffet with almost anything you’d desire to get the day started
