Kapetanios Bay Hotel in Protaras garners praise for its sparkling cleanliness and friendly service, with staff members often exceeding guest expectations. While the hotel boasts a buzzing atmosphere and a prime strip location near the beach, some visitors find the high volume of music and entertainment a drawback, particularly by the pool on weekends. The amenities, including the pools and breakfast, are generally appreciated, though the availability of sunbeds sometimes falls short. Room opinions are mixed, with recommendations to upgrade for additional space.

Travelled to Cyprus under emergency circumstances with my sister when my father fell ill on holiday and was hospitalised. Nikolas the hotel manager was absolutely fantastic in helping reassure us that he was able to accommodate myself and sister at very short notice and that a room was being held for my father ready for his discharge from hospital. We were welcomed on arrival after a late flight and every single member of staff at this hotel asked about my father and made sure we knew they were there for anything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always met with smiles and friendly service. When my Dad came out of hospital with a very strict diet plan, the chef met with us and happily offered to make any meal at all that my father needed. To say that this hotel and all the staff have gone above and beyond is the very least I can say in my review. The location of the hotel is perfect to access the many bars and restaurants of Protaras and also just a few minutes walk to the beautiful beaches here. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean with daily maid service, pool towels can be hired for 10 euros which is refunded at the end of the stay. The pool area has recently been upgraded and is beautiful. Extremely comfortable sun beds, 3 pools including a gorgeous swim up pool bar. Food here is excellent quality and we enjoyed everything we ate. All in all, I could not recommend this hotel highly enough. We met many UK guests that have been coming to the resort and this accommodation regularly for years which speaks volumes. Big shout also to the wonderful Xenis and Gabi who have the Family Taxi firm that is located outside the hotel. They became good friends and were there for us with airport pickups and hospital visits. Thank you Kapetanios Bay Hotel for your care, kindness and wonderful support during a very stressful for us as a family. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Stayed here for five nights. Would rate it as a good 3* hotel. Very clean and all the staff friendly and helpful. One point though is that the bar closed at around 9.30 after the evening meal service finished. The doors were closed and you therefore had to walk around the hotel to get to reception, and there was no other place at the hotel to have an evening drink other than coffees. The breakfast was standard but the buffet was kept freshly stocked, hand sanitiser and plastic gloves were provided. It was noted that all staff wore their masks correctly and surfaces regularly cleaned. In these strange times it was comforting to see COVID-19 protocols being adhered to.

A 10 day stay from Oct 7 bed & breakfast, most important thing the weather was great 29c + every day. Don't always believe the internet wether websites, we had a late Check in, my room & key card waiting for me at reception no passports or documents to show nothing to sign simple, my room was on 4th floor, the bathroom a little small but perfectly clean & adequate for our needs, beds were comfortable and House keeping every day and very clean too, no kitchen just a kettle, the safe was also included most other hotels charge for this, The breakfast was great I couldn't fault it excellent choice from hot stuff to cold meats and cheeses to yogurts & fruit, cake, mini croissants with chocolate sauce, cereal, and all your bread and jams the list goes on, if we had had to go out and buy breakfast it would almost probably be over 150 EUR for Both of us for our stay so can't complain, we didn't dine at the hotel in the evening so i can't comment on that. The pool area was most impressive however I thought the pool bar was a little expensive for food & drinks ( there was a McDonald's right opposite the hotel) yet again most people would put there towels on the sun loungers but I only used the pool area a few times, The sea was absolutely amazing so warm it was very busy and couldn't always get a lounger or umbrella €2.50 for each you had to get there early, the location of the hotel was perfect probably 8min walk to the beach, the complex was ideal for people with mobility issues with ramps and 2 elevators one small and a much larger one big enough for a wheelchair, also mobility scooter were available to hire but not sure from the hotel though. Had a lovely holiday, I thought mostly suited for older couples and families if you want a more lively holiday with clubs and more bars and are much younger 18+ go to ayia Napa area much more lively I think, great restaurants which are fairly priced good sized portions,if you go self catering there was a Lidl (not far to walk ) I thought a little expensive compared to the UK, there were plenty of other supermarkets The best buy was pretty reasonable, especially for some alcoholic drinks they even offer to open the bottles for you if you want, oh and cigarettes from € 4 a pack The area of protaras was a little run down and needs a bit of attention especially the pavement areas so do be careful a very good bus service ran so you can explore future if you want, I would return to the hotel again and think it was great value for money.

First time at this hotel after bagging a last minute deal! Do not let the reviews put you off, we cannot fault a thing! Rooms, staff, pool area were all fantastic! We never struggled to get a sun lounger but then again oct is quieter due to no school holidays. Our room looked onto the strip, yes it was noisy but its a holiday destination so it's to be expected and around 1:30/2 it stopped and was silent after that. The staff at the pool bar went above & beyond to ensure there was coconut milk everyday for my husbands iced coffee! We went b&b, i don't eat breakfast so i can't comment on it but my husband said it was your standard breakfast and had no complaints infact due to his allergies they made him an omellete which was lovely of them. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard & some days the cleaners had made shapes from our PJs which was a nice touch! For the price we paid we cannot recommend it enough! Great location, great staff and an overall great holiday! 8th time in Protaras, 1st in this hotel but certainly not my last! Thankyou Kapentanios Bay for a wonderful stay :)

First visit to the Kapetanios Bay hotel and absolutely loved it. It is so clean inside and out, recently refurbed to an excellent standard bright and airy. The staff are all friendly and go above and beyond from the room cleaners who visited daily the restaurant staff always on hand to reception staff who greet you with a smile. The food is of high standards and finally the pool area is a private oasis of fun with a recently added swim up bar and jacuzzi area. Will definitely be back. In my view a lot of hotel for a decent price.

Just returned from a 2 week stay. We had asked for a room overlooking the strip and were given exactly what we had requested. We arrived late but check in was extremely quick and hassle free.
Our room was well equipped with air con and safe included in the price plus a bottle of water and tea and coffee. The bathroom is on the small side although this was never a problem as only one of us used the bathroom at a time. Cleaners were excellent and towels changed every day. The hotel is perfectly located near to lots of bars, restaurants, shops with even a McDonalds right next door. The beach is a pleasant 10 minute stroll away. The music is loud from the surrounding bars but this was never a problem for us and things would generally quiet down around 1.30 am.
The pool area is immaculate. There are plenty of sunbeds available and getting one was never a problem although as our holiday wore on, some people started getting up at silly o’clock to secure their favoured beds. Weekends around the pool are particularly busy with lots of local Cypriot families and young people visiting the hotel, especially on a Sunday, but this was never an issue and added to the atmosphere around the pool as a DJ plays on a Sunday.
We were bed and breakfast and there were lots of choices to suit every taste and the food was good and replenished frequently served from 7.30 -10 am. The staff are very hard working, friendly and will do what they can to help. We requested a late check out which we managed to get at a cost of 25 euros and we kept the room on until 7pm. If this is not available then you can book a shower room and keep your luggage in a holding room. We would definitely stay here again.

Having stayed at the Kapetanios in 2017 when we got married we rebooked for a 14 night stay in 2020 ( but sadly Covid hit ) so the holiday kept getting pushed forward then eventually we were able to return in August 22.

The hotel has had a recent pool/bar area refurbishment which looks amazing but sadly rules are not abided by. There is a list of rules around the pool area i.e. no diving, no bottles, no food from outside the hotel, no children allowed in the swim up bar pool, no inflatables in the pool and many more! Not one of their rules were adhered to which upset many residents. You could not get in the jacuzzi area for children and drunk locals in our first week beginning the 10/08, bottles were being drank in the pool (surely that breaks the health and safety act 1974) and locals thought it was acceptable to smoke in the pool.

Then there was the sun bed issue as the Kapetanios has now opened the hotel/pool area to anyone daily. You had to ensure your towels were down before 6am every morning. Surely paying residents should be priority? But when complaints were made you just got a mere shrug which basically meant ‘tough’ we hired a car for 7 days due to not being able to get a sun bed until after 3pm. The music in the pool bar area was all Cypriot where locals stood at the bar singing and drunk.

Sadly I will not return to the Kapetanios as the hotel now only caters for the locals!

My partner and I have mixed feels regarding this hotel

Pros:
The hotel, rooms and pools are very clean and modern and it is a very pretty place to stay.

Most of bar staff are friendly and are constantly working hard, walking around the pools checking if you need refreshments.
(Shout out to the blonde woman at the pool bar she was amazing and so hard working shame we did not catch her name)

Great location if you are wishing to be on the strip and 4 minute walking distance to the beach

Good quality food served from the pool bar

Good for people wishing for a lively holiday, not relaxing

Unfortunately we had to raise an issue with reception who then escorted us to the manager of the hotel, he was lovely and very understanding and did what he could to ensure resolve it

Cons:
The noise. We were expecting it before travelling due to the location, HOWEVER, we were pool side which was meant to be the quieter side but think this must be dependent on whether you are left or right side, we was left and all we could here was 3 nearby bars competing for loudnesses, including karaoke, music and live performers every single night. Weekends were worse as this was allowed till later in the night and the hotel also took part in having live DJ/singers. So if you are going to be out most evenings or want to join in this would be fab. (Unsure if maybe travelling in august contributes to the liveliness)

Evening meal buffet is NOT worth it, we was B&B however was wanting a chilled night in so went for food thinking it was there TexMex or BBQ night, it was awful which was surprising when the food and the pool bar is always top quality.

The pool rules! Very pointless, a massive appealing point is the adults only pool which unfortunately does not exist. During our time children have been allowed in this pool even though they have the main huge pool which they take over and another small children’s pool, my partner and I even witnessed them being served chocolate milkshakes at the pool bar even though when we raised this issue we were told that the bar staff are “doing their best”. However, on our last day we did see the lifeguard ask a child to leave the adults only pool so hopefully this may be changing so adults actually have a space to try and relax.

Our main issue was the fact that the facilitates such as the sunbeds, pools, restaurants does not meet the capacity the hotel allows. This hotel should make a decision of what type of hotel it wants to be. At the moment lots of tourists like myself and my partner pay a lot of money to come and enjoy our holiday, but also local Cypriots use this hotel. as we travelled during the summer holidays, it was crazy busy! Constant sunbed wars, not relaxing, ended up spending most of our time at the beach which is a shame as we paid so much, during our time it was very much accommodated for the Cypriots

We would return to Cyprus, however sadly we would not return to this hotel, would never normally leave such a critical review however these are issues we wished we would have known before booking

Lovely hotel with amazing food and lovely staff!
We stayed for 10 nights all inclusive and the staff and service were amazing. Breakfast had plenty of hot options (sausages and scrambled eggs were perfect) as well as a selection of cereals, fruit and cold items. Our lunch came from with a varied snack menu (burgers, toasties, omelettes, pizza etc) or a larger lunch menu with more main options, starters and deserts. Evening meals were varied although not a huge selection there was something to suit everyone, with some themed nights and a fresh soup daily. Drink selection was large and the bar/restaurant staff were always quick and friendly. Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels, even on days we put up DND signs in the am and then removed it they came in and cleaned late in the day! The rooms were spacious with a good bathroom, decent sized balcony and effective air con that cools the whole room.Pool area was spotless and although busy some days (weekends) there were plenty of sunbeds to go around. There are some complaints about noise however this didn’t bother us as we went out at night and had a pool side room, the hotel is located in a fantastic location with bars and restaurants around so noise is to be expected however what we did hear was on the balcony and stopped as soon as the door was shut.

Nice, modernized hotel in great location in center just ferw steps from beach. Room oriented to the pools was a great choice, we didn't hear any noise from the street and had a partial view on see. Terrifically small bathroom with shared WC. Personnel on reception was kind and helpfull with some quality English. Room got cleaned daily but not with high quality. Our hygienic supplies weren't stocked multiple times. Pool garden was very beautiful but sadly in entire 8 days of our stay we didn't use it once. Sunbeds were occupied since early morning or they were for quest from other hotels. Breakfast were good enough, only coffee didn't taste well, only after asking at least we got provided by coffee from can. There could be more options of food for dinner and there weren't any fries. There were always perfect vegetable salads, multiple types. Who met local families from Cyprus with children didn't have a reason to be excited during dinning time. Children were runnning all around the place which was dangeroud for them and very annoying for quests. On breakfast in inner premisses they always wore only bikini or kerchief, it was very rude and it doesn't matter how many stars hotel has, personnel should always at least speak up to these types of quests. Waiters were kind and willing which can't be said about service in bar and dinning hall. It is a shame that I can not recommend such a fine hotel to my friends, because there are many little deficits which are very essential for stay.
