Overall we had a very good experience, but as mentioned in the title of this review a few things about this hotel do not meet 5 star standards.

Firstly, we picked this hotel mainly because of the location and especially for their offer of sunbeds on the beach. However, we were very disappointed with their process of arranging sunbeds for the guests. The process is manual, and when I say manual I mean one guy with a sheet of paper marking the sunbed for each room. Once you were allocated a sunbed it was presumed that this was your sunbed for the whole of your stay. So if there are not any good beds available you are stuck with a poor choice. Unless you want to go back to the staff who is responsible for the assignment of the sunbeds but when we did that the guy was not happy at all he had to reallocate beds. Which further proves it was poor from the hotel not to have some kind of electronic system and just leave this to an individual who seemed pretty frustrated with this task.

A thing that I found particularly frustrating from this 5 star hotel is that there was no supervision from the hotel in the pool areas. Screaming kids would run around and dive into the the pool (which is considered unsafe) and there was no intervention from the hotel to take care of the sutuation (or even lifeguards). Also kids would enter the adults’ pool with no one stopping them, so if you are after some peace and quiet maybe stay away from the pool area.

Furthermore, I was very disappointed with the poor standards of the hotel in regards to Covid. Guests would walk around common spaces and enter the lifts with no masks. There was no supervision from the hotel to ensure that guests were following the mask guidelines. In addition, by law the hotel is obligated to ask all guests to provide evidence of a “safepass” but we were not asked once to show our safepass.

Another area where I thought the hotel failed to maintain 5 star standards was the lack of airconditioning in the corridors. When we visited Protaras was close to 40C and the halls did not have airconditioning. Even worse, in one of our rooms the aircon wasn’t working properly so we asked to move.

Despite the above complaints the hotel was good in all other areas. We were particularly pleased with the service of the waitors, especially Angelos who was very accommodating. As mentioned before, you can’t really get a better location in Protaras and the facilities were very modern.

Just back from a 5 night stay at the Sunrise Pearl. We had a fantastic trip. The hotel is situated in the centre of Protaras but it is very quiet as it set back from the road. It is very modern building with lots of glass so it is very light throughout. It is spotlessly clean and staff were all wearing masks and respecting the covid 19 rules. The swimming pools are well designed with plenty of space and you are allocated set sunbeds at the start of your stay and you pick up fresh towels each day.

I would definitely recommend a full sea view. We stayed in room 822 which had a fantastic view over the Mediterranean Sea. the room was spacious with very comfortable bed, good aircon and well stocked mini fridge with complimentary water replaced every day. A nice touch.

The staff at the hotel are all top class and a special shout for our Maitre De who was so attentive and responsive. The food in the Waterfall, Mistral and Lemongrass Restaurants was top quality, with great choice and freshly cooked. From full cooked breakfasts to Soulaki and chips. Whatever you want they will cater for all tastes and dietary needs. There is Great pan Asian cuisine at the lemongrass restuarant next door which is part of the Sunrise Group.

The hotel is right on a fantastic sandy beach with beautiful clear waters. Very child friendly but good for couples too. Great for snorkeling and lots of water sports. The Protaras Strip has lots of bars, restaurants and shops but many were closed as it was October and nearing the end of the season.

The Sunrise Pearl is a Highly recommended 5 star experience 👌. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We stayed for one week at the start of June and whilst we had a pleasant time we are in two minds if we would return.
The hotel is in a good location with great beaches close by and is generally clean too.
We stayed on a full board basis and do not think it was worth the price. Much better restaurants if you venture outside the hotel.
We tried Lemongrass as part of the fine around which was fantastic. We also tried Marcelo’s Italian which was pretty average.
Fishbone was incredible but very expensive for simple food but this was definitely a highlight.
We paid a lot to stay in a duplex suite with a jacuzzi and found it very noisy in the evenings as they are very close to the bars on the strip. We had to have a speaker on with light music so my toddler was able to sleep.

The biggest con for us was the cockroaches on our last few days both inside and outside. We saw them repeatedly and when we told the reception they were not shocked and simply said they will spray the room. The spraying clearly didn’t work and they offered no alternative to move us rooms or try to resolve the issue as cockroaches are simply a cyprus problem.
Because of this we didn’t really get to utilise the hot tub outside as we were too scared to go outside in the evening as the cockroaches would run across the decked part.
I don’t think the cockroaches were due to the cleanliness of the hotel as generally it was very clean but I do think for a five star they can and should do more.

Pool and sun beds were lovely and generally our stay was nice but we don’t think this is a five star hotel after staying in five stars across the world.

This is our third time here, we are also about to book for a 3 week stay next year, That surley says it all.. The hotel is in an excellent position, allowing you to pop into the sea, then right back in to the allocated sunbeds ( Yours for you the duration if your stay )
There are some real gems working here, TBH every member of staff is quite simply, the best. All are courteous and attentive, and genuinely happy and willing to help, I must mention DURGER in the restaurant and MELA our housekeeper. Apologies if I have mispelled your names, two of the most friendly happy people we have met.
Anyway, food great. Location great, dine around option great, though a shame all guests with bookings have to wait in an often, very long queue of people, many if whom do not have bookings.
The room ( ours was a 2nd floor full sea view RM220 ) was immaculate, and cleaned thoroughly every day ( MELA ) The water in the fridge was replenished daily, sometimes twice daily. Chocolate left in the evening, when the beds are turned down.
Just one suggestion, update the tvs in the rooms, with smart tvs which would allow guests to access their own Netflix etc. I only suggest this, as the English TV channels are constantly losing signal...

Could not fault this hotel. My stay here was an absolute pleasure. To begin greeted with drinks on arrival porter to take bags to room. Check in was swift and informative. Had a sea view suite room, double bed with portion to sitting area with single bed. It was immaculate and the staff kept the rooms clean regular fresh towels. Mini bar with complimentary water every day, and one off wine, beer and coke.
Food
Excellent breakfast and dinner at the buffet I highly enjoyed all the food was to a very high standard. We were half board so got to try the dine around option and had dinner at the fish bourne restaurant, Italian and pan- Asian for 3 course meal- pan Asian is not to be missed this was the highlight food was exquisite! Dinner buffet had either Someone playing piano or another instrument it was such a beautiful setting.
Pools and beach
Wonderful, allocated sunbeds when you arrive so no need to rush and reserve sun beds. This is a wonderful element of the hotel it’s really thought out. Pool’s are lovely with fantastic view of beach. Beach is clean and clear just be mindful of slippery rocks in water and leading into ocean. They have water sports on beach, and at side ice cream van and corn stand was very popular we tried both for cheaper lunch alternatives. Staff come around with cold towels and fruit bowl in ice. You can order lunch if needed I tried the ceaser salad, fruit bowl and chicken club sandwich both delicious and quite big portions paid for these as on half board. You can pay cash, charge to room or ask to pay card. All under €10 each.
The staff are so helpful and friendly they all deserve a shout out. The maintain the hotel so well and all the staff can not do enough for you! They are a credit to the hotel.

Area outside is very busy and lively did not stay at hotel for entertainment so can not comment as outside entertainment the drinks are cheaper to. We went on the dolphin boat €23 adult €15 child, lovely had a little dance at the end staff onboard friendly and fun. Only a short walk along the pier to get to.

My stay here was nothing short of amazing can not fault the hotel. It was pure luxury and I would highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

This was our first visit to Cyprus and we decided to stay at the Sunrise Pearl in Protaras and were not disappointed. The hotel is situated right on the beach and also has direct access to a busy main street with lots going on at night. We had a twin room with sea view which has great views of the palm tree lined beach, it was kept spotlessly clean by the staff and even had a turn-down service in the evening. All the staff at the Pearl were fantastic from the managers right down to the cleaners, they couldn't do enough for you and really made us feel welcome and special during our holiday. We were half board and the food at the hotel was great and you even had the option to eat at a number of restaurants on the main street as part of your package which was really good. We ate at the grill, Italian and Asian restaurants and really enjoyed all. You had your own sunbeds allocated to you on your first day and if you couldn't get the spot you wanted the guys at the pool would let you know when beds in your desired area become available, so you could move if you still wanted. There's lots of watersposrts at the beach if you like to do them and a nice promenade along the beachfront if you fancy taking a stroll. Lastly, I have to give a special mention to Durga our waitress who made every effort to make sure our stay was special and nothing was too much trouble for her and she never stopped smiling. In summary it's a fantastic hotel, with great staff, in an amazing location and we will definitely be going back!

We arrived late in the evening and was greeted by a glass of Prosecco and a concierge to relieve us of suitcases, check in was smooth although was asked to Supply holiday hotel voucher from EasyJet which they do not supply, this was quickly dealt with the following morning and rectified. Sunloungers were chosen and allocated for our stay ( this should be adopted by all hotels ) Pool Waiter Raj was superb and so friendly. Frozen facecloths were handed out early afternoon and complimentary fruit late afternoon. Food at Breakfast and Dinner was plentiful and varied, Staff were always on hand immediately, restaurant Manager was just so attentive chatty and could not do enough for you…. Including a couple of drinks from the bar complimentary!! The choice of other eateries included in half board was also a pleasant experience, Lemongrass was a personal favourite.
We have booked to return next June. We spoke to many guests who returned regularly each year.
The Location is brilliant Beach at the back and a busy strip at the front but Hotel is set back so you can be as near or far away as you like.
Hotel and room spotlessly clean, housekeeping even handed chocolates to you as they came to change towels! Paragliding and Jet Ski a must!!!
Would definitely recommend.

Me and my other half stayed at the hotel at the start of October for 7 nights. We were looking for somewhere that was clean, modern, served good food, a comfortable nights sleep and friendly staff - which is exactly what we got! From the moment we arrived I knew we were going to have a relaxing stay.

The hotel is in the perfect location, in the centre of the Protaras strip with all local amenities, bus stop and fig tree bay just a short walk away. It’s right on the sea front, just a few steps and your on the sand or in the beautiful blue sea. There’s plenty of bars and restaurants dotted around the strip, with live music and entertainment playing every evening to keep you occupied. Although they are close by, you are never kept awake at night by any of it which is a huge bonus. The hotel grounds are kept clean and tidy. You get to pick your own sun-bed for the duration of your stay and have towels provided daily to use as needed.

Our room was located on the second floor, we had a beautiful sea view and a big balcony to sit and watch the sun set. The rooms are big, bright and airy with the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The cleaning staff were so friendly, going out of their way to say morning every day and the night service was a brilliant touch too, especially the chocolates. We had our rooms cleaned every day and mini fridge topped up with free water which we really appreciated.

The dine around option is absolutely fantastic at this hotel, it really is 5 star. Our favourite was the Greek along with the fish restaurant located in the hotel, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely divine in each of the restaurants, the service was excellent and the staff were really welcoming in all of them. The computer you book your restaurants at was easy to use, you printed out your receipt as a reminder and could book 24 hours in advance so you always had something to look forward to. We enjoyed eating lunch at the pool bar each day, the choice of food available, being served by the friendly staff and the Chicken Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had! Breakfast was so enjoyable, sitting out in the sun, again the staff were so attentive and really friendly. The chefs are very chatty and smiley, we looked forward to going to breakfast each morning.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, before we had left Cyprus we were looking to return next year. It really is a 5 star stay, the reception staff are so friendly and helpful. Everything is just perfect. It was so relaxing and can’t wait to come back next year! Thank you Sunrise Pearl!

We had yet another enjoyable stay at this fabulous hotel which is located on one of the best beaches in the world. The food was excellent at all of their restaurants which are located in the hotel but also on the Protaras strip. The lovely Maria at Amelie Patisserie was always on hand to greet us with her beautiful smile. The staff were incredibly attentive as always and nothing was too much for them. Our spacious room had spectacular views of the sea and it was cleaned twice a day with fresh towels in case we needed a further shower before bedtime.

The Pearl Spa is yet another primary reason why we choose to return to this fabulous hotel every year. We have frequented some of the best spas in the world but this one is our favourite. All the therapists are superb but Niki is our favourite. She is without a doubt the best beauty therapist on the planet. We both had the most amazing massages, facials and body treatments with Niki. Her energy and flow are on another level. If there was ever an award for the best Beauty Therapist, she would get first prize without a doubt.

You can check out the videos of their accommodation and spa on their website which I find incredibly useful. I would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel for couples and for families.

This is my second visit to this hotel and everything about it is 5*… hence why I keep returning!
The staff are extremely friendly and attentive, their outstanding level of service ensured that our stay was seamless from beginning to end.
This hotel really knows how to do luxury and even the smallest of touches show that the owner/staff have great amounts of experience in the industry. My two favourite touches are:
1.) You are able to select your desired sun loungers and then the pool staff assign these to you for the length of your stay. This means no waking up early and putting towels down for a good spot!!! There is options of loungers on the beach and around both of the two pools. You will received fresh pool towels every morning at your request. The beds are super comfy too!
2.) The half board food is incredible! Not only do you have access to the hotel’s buffet style food which is gorgeous (and definitely not the average buffet at a half board hotel) but you have the option to eat a three course meal at any of the restaurants along the strip (once each) the restaurants which qualify for this are mentioned by the hotel upon your arrival. You simply book these via the link they provide or via the tablet in reception.
The room was really spacious and modern with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the sea. The bed was beyond comfortable and the facilities available in the room were great.
The location of this hotel is great — it backs onto an amazing beach with Crystal clear waters and out the front you have the main Protaras strip which is lined by multiple restaurants, bars and shops as well as bustling with life.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody and everybody… This is my favourite hotel and will be returning for my 3rd visit this year!

Hi, do you have to pay to use the gym next door? TIA
Answer from Malcolm H
Currently staying at the Pearl - amazing hotel I will say. But I’ll give as much info regarding the gym for you and anyone else interested to see. As I would like to have known myself prior to coming here. Gym is located ground floor and poolside of the neighbouring Sunrise Beach hotel. With a pathway between the 2x hotels in the pool area to access. It’s glass fronted, so views out across the pools and to the sea. It’s free to use as part of your stay at the Pearl. And open from 7am to 8pm. Towels are available. But no water station in there. So bring your own as you’ll deff work up a sweat. :) Fairly well equipped for a holiday hotel gym as well. Everything is Techogym . So decent quality. Cardio wise there are 3x bikes, 5x treadmills and 2x skiers. Then a lat pull down, chest press, shoulder press, butterfly, and back row. Leg press, leg lift, leg curl machines. Preacher pad with EZ bar. Cable crossover frame. Chin and dip stn. And dumbbells up to 22kg. Enough to get a reasonable session in, and negate some of those indulgences enjoyed. Happy holidays.
