A wonderful holiday experience on a high level of quality and at a reasonable price. Our family was not disappointed with such choice of the accommodation.
The rooms are spacious for 4 people at least (One-Bedroom Apartment). The furniture and the cooking utensils are perfectly new and clean, and the making up of the room is done regularly and thoroughly. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a small, but convenient fridge with a freezer.
I would mostly like to note the perfect architecture of the hotel building which allows for almost every room to have a sea view. We were happy to enjoy our meals every day (especially breakfast) on a small balcony facing a rather considerable part of the sea panorama, as well as the majority of our neighbours. As well as that, the area of the hotel is situated a little bit away from the main roads and bars, which makes it rather quiet.
The best part about the location of Alva is the fact that it is only 5 mins away from the Fig Tree Bay beach of Protaras. We were also surprised to discover that Alva's building is visible from the beach itself. Therefore, swimming before and after breakfast becomes no trouble.
There are plenty of places in close proximity to buy food and all the necessary stuff for a good trip. Lidl Supermarket is only 10 mins away by foot, and many good cafés are situated around the hotel. A small kind of café is available by the pool area, serving freshly made pizza and other dishes.
WiFi connection is available all around the hotel building and is fast and stable. The pool is always clean and comfortable to swim in.
The staff is friendly and helpful at any moment, speaking perfect British English (I was even alarmed at the quality of my own speech). Every request that we asked for was fulfilled right away with politeness and care.
Overall, I hope my review sounds not that pathetic, but it assembles exactly what we think of our stay at Alva Hotel Apartments. In addition, Alva will be the major accommodation option to consider should we return to Protaras once more.

There are six of us currently on holiday here
At the moment
The hotel has very friendly staff and special mention goes out to the three men Chris, Pan and Cosmos are wonderful. The apartment are very spacious and extremely clean
The pool area is good with plenty of beds
The hotel is positioned in a brilliant location with a five minute stroll to fig tree bay and all the local bars and restaurants
The only problem that we have encountered is that there are a lot of Russians here who got to bed really early and complain when Chris plays music in the bar after 11pm, it appears to us that the hotel is more concerned for the Russian clientele that the British. This is a holiday resort we are on holiday to have a good time not to be told that music cannot be played after 11pm
Chris, pan and Cosmos do a fantastic job and are so friendly and given the current situation with covid they could not do better

Please cater for your other guests not just the Russians

We are however having a fantastic time and will come again thank you for your excellent hospitality

Thank you so much for your review. We would like to stress that we try to cater for all our guests, no matter which nationality, and we try our best to please them all, even though this can be very difficult and stressfull! Your comment that the hotel is more concerned about the Russian clientele than the British is very unfair, especially as I too am British!! We wish you all the best and hope that you will visit us again.

My Daughter (21) and I stayed here for a week, it’s perfectly situated, clean and the staff are all very friendly. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a suite (room 1) everything you need is in the room with a large bathroom, great air con, lovely balcony with two chairs and a table, perfect for drying our washing in the evening and sitting having a cuppa in the morning and also has a safe. The pool is a good size and has a smaller children's pool too, I love that if people go down at 5 to put towels on the beds and go back up to their room for hours the staff remove the towels so that it’s fair for everyone and means you don’t need to get up too early to get a bed by the pool. You can have a full English breakfast at the hotel for €6. Fig tree bay is only a couple of minutes walk, it does get very busy so get there early if you want to hire beds and parasol (2x beds and parasol €7.50). Bus stop is a two minute walk from the hotel, €1.50 set price (single adult) after 9pm it goes up slightly, I can’t remember if it was 2.50 or 3 euros, the drivers shout out the main stops so you’ll know when to get off, we travelled to Kapparis, Turtle bay (Green Bay) Konnos beach and Ayia Napa all on different occasions with no problems at all. At Green Bay (Turtle bay) they offer lots of activities, My Daughter snorkelled while being pulled by a boat in the search of Turtles, I wasn’t confident in doing this so sat on the boat but I got to see them too when they came up for air, for €20 per person (min 2 people) this was a great experience for the price. As the hotel is situated on the main strip there are so many restaurants to choose from, I would recommend visiting Marcelo’s Italian restaurant, it was amazing, the food was out of this world, also Sonja (good set traditional Cypriot food), the brewery (amazing ribs and fajitas) the list could go on, the love boat was good for cocktails and entertainment and is only a minute walk from the hotel, also Rives sports bar was good in the evening. You can have a massage on the beach starting from €16, my Daughter enjoyed a neck, back and shoulder massage 30 mins + an Indian head massage 20 mins all for €42, she said it was amazing. We didn’t visit but there is also McDonald’s, kfc, Pizza Hut all on the strip. Loads of little shops and supermarkets. Protaras is a beautiful place and the hotel was perfect for us, always feeling safe, we will be booking to go again (hopefully) very soon. I would 100% recommend this Hotel, in-fact I already have to my best friend who is booking for next year with her family 😁

I felt the need to leave a positive review of this hotel. We have been visiting Fig Tree Bay Protaras on and off for 20yrs. We have stayed in many of the hotels and have always seen Alva as being a good location and so decided to try the self catering holiday option this year as we enjoy eating out along the strip and the many bars. We had 2 rooms on the 4th floor 431/435. We were pleasantly surprised. Very clean, bed was comfortable kitchenette equipped for our needs. Cleaners work so hard and we often kept the “do not disturb” on to give them a break - the room is not needing cleaning daily. We were able to get beds around the pool every day in a spot towards the rear with shade. Some people still insist on reserving beds but empty beds could still be found until late morning. The pool is very clean, no tiles cracked around the pool (seen this many times). The pizzas are amazing, well worth ordering for lunch around the pool. So close to a supermarket, Fig tree bay and ice cream parlour. With Lidl also a 5 min walk for the essentials! We had a room over looking the main road and we didn’t find any issues with the noise coming from the nearby bars - however we did come back around 11pm so cannot comment on early evening noise. I have attached a pic of the sun beds at the pool as I don’t believe the hotel advertising photos give a real indicator and we were pleasantly surprised. We will be coming back next year to the town we love for a very reasonable price. If you want a basic holiday for a good price check out this hotel 😁

A nice, welcoming hotel situated perfectly for the beach and shops/bars/restaurants.

This hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and all staff and guests were friendly.

A small hotel but much better than some of the larger ones.

We stayed B&B but wouldn’t chose to do so again. Breakfast is ok with a very small variety. Hot food is uncovered on hot plates leaving this exposed to fly’s. Cereal is 2 choices. Fruit is watermelon and there were 2 pastries on offer. All food is uncovered so again not hygienic.

Upon arrival we were ‘upgraded’ to a suite but having heard other check ins this seemed to be the norm! The room was large enough for a family of 4 with plenty of storage. The bathroom was a walk in shower and 2 other rooms, 1 with twin beds and the other with a sofa bed, camp bed, coffee table, table & chairs and a kitchenette. Plentiful. After a few days I noticed a damp/ moist feel in the room and when looking closer there were black spores of damp/mould near the air conditioning units. The under sink cupboard smelt of strong damp and the standing lamp was covered in mould spores. I complained to Reception who immediately dealt with this by removing the lamp and cleaning the ceiling. This would be a temporary measure so do check your room on arrival.

Cleaners work really hard but room only cleaned every other day and often not enough towels.

Overall a lovely little hotel where I would stay again if the food hygiene and damp issues were resolved.

The apartment was by far not as spacious as shown on the photos but spacious enough. The cleanliness was irreproachable. The maid even cleaned some bits of dishware and cutlery we had left from breakfast which was not her duty. Thank you!
View mainly over the car park. Behind many buildings you could see the sea. Balcony is big enough for having breakfast and a light meal in the evening.
The Kitchen provides much place for preparing meals but the furnishing of cutlery and dishware is very economic. Fortunately we had read reviews before our journey, so we brought our stuff for dishwashing and our usual sharp knife.
The staff changed almost every day, but everyone was very nice and extremely helpful. So far, we would have been satisfied (if it was not for the spring matress which was too hard on the surface but too soft altogether).
But the surroundings were terrible. Fast food everywhere, expensive "Best Buy" supermarkets and one Lidl with the pettiest assortment we have seen in any Lidl of Europe, loads of people everywhere. You want nice tranquil evenings on your balcony or in a garden or on the beach? Forget it. In Protaras you live in the middle of a fun fair. The later the evening, the louder the noise of carnival barkers and cacophony "music". Even the "fun" mile of Palma de Mallorca was more decent. The top of all were two women who made an infernal noise in the hallway at midnight. I opened my door and saw them kneeling in a distance of ca. 12 m in front of their door trying to get their key in. I would have helped them but had to close our door quickly because I got sick of their stench of alcohol which filled the whole long hallway. And I thought: This town is a place that attracts such guests.
Someone tried to comfort us with the remark that it would be much worse in Agia Napa. Well then!

We stayed at the ALVA in a one bed apartment for 3 nights, 2 adults, 2 kids. The rooms are clean, modern and well equipped. There were 2 singles made into a double in the main bedroom and 2 singles in living area, one sofa and one put you up. The kitchenette had a hob, kettle, toaster and microwave.
The swimming pool is lovely and gets the sun for most the day. The hotel is on the main street in Protaras right next to all the shops, bars and restaurants and a 2 min walk to Fig Tree Bay.
What made this place stand out was Katia, the manager. She went out of her way to accommodate us even cooking my girls pancakes and getting them croissants for breakfast when they weren't on the menu. She couldn't do more for us.
Highly recommend for families, coupled and groups of friends to stay. I will definitely be staying again. Thanks to Katia and the team.

We stayed at Alva for 18 nights as a family of 4 (children 14 & 12) room was lovely and spacious, cleaner came everyday and the room was always spotless. We stayed self catering, we had a small kitchen which had what we needed and a little fridge which was really useful for cold drinks. The pool was lovely and clean, we only sat by the pool a couple of times as some guests did get up early to reserve beds with towels and would then disappear for hours but there is so much to do and see that this really didn’t bother us but I can see why some people who would want to sit by the pool would get annoyed. The hotel did try to accommodate and during our stay provided extra beds by the pool. Location is fantastic 2 minute walk to fig tree bay and on the doorstep of all the bars and shops! Also really close to catch the bus, bus service is great and really cheap although they do get really busy. Reception staff were always polite and friendly. We did ask for late check out but it wasn’t possible due to the time of year but there were facilities we could use to shower etc before our flight. We loved this hotel so much so we have booked to return again next year which will be a first as we have never returned to a hotel before we have always stayed somewhere different! I would definitely recommend Alva and we can’t wait to return.
